A visit to the huge storm drain/culvert in Derby's Markeaton park. Perfect weather to go exploring underground as there's not much water. I did't go right to the end as its the same looking tunnel all the way.

Like/Comment/Subscribe as i'll be exploring alot more now i have a GoPro. Mainly tall buildings and abandoned buildings.

Exploring an Raid Shelter in Long Eaton!

1 of 4 Air Raid shelters that were built during World War 2 for the staff at Toton Sidings. This is the most known shelter in Long Eaton. This is my first actual video so i'm sorry for the audio not being perfect or my voice being any good!
It's so fun going in there
That’s been cleared out since I was last in there
That thing is sick
Do you still explore I know this video old now reply if still using this
I used go there when I was kid with my Granddad
How sad. Some top nights back in the day at the orchid.
I think it comes out in the river gardebs
It now all boarded up and has Metal fence around it
Where this ?
It's made me very sad seeing this nightclub like this me and my mate built the dancefloor upstairs for James What a shame seeing this nightclub like this many students at them times must have so many nice memories &good nights at this club,I would've loved to know why has it been closed down as I've lost contact with James a few years ago I hope he's doing well and still living a healthy life
Closed in 2009 due to violence
There's a raid shelter here
I remember going there in the 1980's. Still looks the same, and probably smells the same as it was then.
Many good nights spent in there when it was the black orchid.
I had the same problem trying to find these yesterday! If you're ever in the area in the future and fancy going to tackle that overgrowth with some gloves n sticks to gain access then give me a shout lol
Guttered they've blocked the entrances to this now 👎🏻
Yes I noticed when I was in the area a few weeks ago. Understandable as it's a bit dangerous. I'm not sure if any others are sealed off yet though, I don't live in the area anymore to go and check!
@@RebeccaFyre I think all the bushes have done a good enough job at sealing up the rest lol
Yeah in summer it is a bit more difficult but not impossible!
I was there yesterday trying to find them with my little boy, there was too much overgrowth to get through with a child lol I couldn't see the hatches but I knew they was around there somewhere just couldn't remember...... Thanks for confirming! I want to go back shortly child free and find access to them all even if it means chopping bushes lol I did go in them around 17 years ago as a teenager!
amazing!!
thanks to your information i visited these last year. one is really clean and dry inside the other has had the escape hatch left open and is not in as such good condition. i also enjoy local history and abandoned spaces.
You need to get a better torch, buddy.
I did this over a year ago, it's probably gone now so no need to upgrade my torch!
@@RebeccaFyre Yer, I just noticed all your vids are from a year ago. Are you going to do anymore or have you finished with this channel, buddy? Be a shame if you have as I live in Nottinghamshire, close to where you did a lot of your vids and I find urbex fascinating.
I am local wondering if we could do a video
Love your videos and notts accent haha! Would love to see more
I found some lawn edge fencing down there in toton. I needed 3 bits of the white plastic fencing and whoop whoop I found it on a dump site
My mum used to go to this nightclub back in the day and made sure We were tucked up in bed before she went lol!
I've not been in there for years
i lived it the old railway house on midland street as my dad worked at toton sideing as a yard master i remmember the Air Raid Shelter's there was 10 that iremember but there was more .my brothers got permission to make a cycle track at the bottom of midland street were the air raid shelters where back in the late 1950s . We need more vids like this showing the lost history of long eaton
Do any of those air raid shelters exist do you think? I'd love to go and see them!
@@RebeccaFyre I dont know now probably not there has been so much of the place destroyed its a shame. there used to be one near the second footbridge but god knows if its still there or not its been over 40 years since ive been round there sorry i couldn't be of more help but good hunting and good luck
At the start where you were going through all of them thorns they were nn easier way to get in that wasn't so painful
As far as I know that's the only way to get to them. There's too many buses and stuff in the way.
@@RebeccaFyre its where you said the ditch was you take an earlier turn and its easier to get through.
At the start where you were going through all of them thorns they were nn easier way to get in that wasn't so painful
Damm this has be boarded up now as well
I wish I knew where this was I've been in 3 of the air raid shelters but haven't been in the 2 other ones maybe you could tell me the way from the green bridge?
Is it in west park
Nowhere near West park, this is behind Asda, in Toton Sidings.
@@RebeccaFyre oh right, near town then i might have a look
I whent in there today and it looks nearly the same as when you whent in im hoping to find the over one tomorrow thx for diong these videos cuz I love abandened places and stuff like that
Was that a bomb crator at the start of the video?
No, it's the other end of the air raid shelter, there's a hatch under the mud and dirt. It's been dug out over the years.
+high brightness LED torches +wellies. Would be interesting to possibly see where that main tunnel ends up, how far it goes.
I've gone to the end before but it gets very deep at the outfall, would need waders. It's also the same brick tunnel design for the entire length :)
@@RebeccaFyre where does this one come out? i am trying to track them all on Google maps. theres another one in Darly abbey that my grandad went up in in a boat when he was a kid. after a while though he said it goes up hill!
Im fairly sure Erewash is a canal
Theres a canal as well...
I've been exploring here lately their is a shelter on the other side of the bridge too
There is 4 in the area total, check my other vids :)
@@RebeccaFyre awesome I shall check them out do you know of any other local ish abandoned places, trying to vlog most of it
I live not too far from Long Eaton, would love to go Urban Exploring but not on my own haha, great vids btw 😊
Where abouts is this
Shardlow
@@HenryMillerHM are you dumb... don't give locations out!
Hey man I live near Asda where I believe toting sidings is around and I would really appreciate it if u would do a vid of how u get to here from the actual green bridge itself cos I myself am crap with directions especially if it is worded directions
I don't live in the area anymore so a video is unlikely of these tunnels again. I kinda explained where it is in another comment on the video so have a look at that :)
I stumbled across this place walking the the other day. There is a hole in the side of the building (where you are at 2 mins in). Might not have been there when this was made? A high power torch or night vision camera would make seeing inside possible!
It's an interesting building! I have a GoPro now so I'll be heading back soon for another, better video, hopefully getting inside!
Good luck!
Crikey! I can remember the neon signs outside, back when ISIS still had Egyptian Mythology connotations. The building seems a lot smaller than I remember, but then, back in the day, I guess I was a lot smaller too. lol
Great find 👍
Thanks :D
are there any other shelters nearby my granny remembers there being moor
Susan Marland hi :). I don't know of any other apart from the 4 I have filmed.
mate, i haven't been in there since i was a kid, it's cleaner then i remember
Nothing wrong with a bit of scavenging! And I talk shit all the time, so I reckon that evens out too. Fascinating what you can find off the beaten track. Good vid dude.
Wow thats amazing to see. I could never go in there as im claustrophobic. I bet junkies and piss heads sleep n doss there now.
Crikey! I've not been down there since I was kid, probably 40 years now. I'm quite surprised it is still as intact as it is. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
