Knots for Cave Rescue Training
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 года назад
Knots, Hitches and Bends that are fundamental skills needed to take a week-long NCRC training course are covered in this video. They include figure eight on a bight, figure eight follow-through, double figure eight, alpine butterfly, square knot, double fishermans bend, prusik hitch, clove hitch with safety, bowline with safety, Munter hitch with tie-off, and water knot.
practicing climbing trees with my arborist gear, just rappelled down my tree with a double wrap around my carabiner holding the lines parallel like you did, and looked this up for a better way. definitely doing it this way from now on.
Great video Thanks
Any chance that Casey also teaches wide area search and rescue classes?
This guy is an excellent in person teache!
This looks much easier to carry.
After watching this, I learned a few tricks to wrapping my ropes better. I do a fig 8 on diff body parts, but the knees! Brilliant!
lets make the 1000 full 😙
Thanks you! The only tutorial needed
Excellent
Great... support
I thought a barrel knot had 3 wraps..
Thank you! I was pulling my hair trying to understand the lowering technique with a munster hitch (described in a book) and your video was a life saver!!
Also called: HMS, Halbmastwurfsicherung or Halbmastwurf bremse, (German). Easy to control with little equipment. Eating rope though...
THANK YOU, FOR DEMONSTRATING THIS USEFUL KNOT APPLICATION(S)! I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE "SUPER-MUNTER"....
ruclips.net/video/hXG17Q__6aY/видео.html @ 4:03
i call it the Italian hitch. didn't know it had other names
Also calle HMS, Halbmastwurfsicherung or Halbmastwurf bremse, (German). Many weird names for a classic repel. Cheers.
Nice video. However, using a Munter hitch on an aluminum carabiner has the potential to overheat the carabiner to the point of failure. Especially if you happen to use a braided rope such as Tech-12 or Amsteel. Steel carabiners should ALWAYS be used in a rescue or recovery in my opinion. Disagree? Let me know why.
Do you have a nice source for that or some accident reports? While aluminium heats up faster because it has a lower mass, it also conducts heat faster and will cool more rapidly.
Steel biners simply aren't part of ordinary climbers equipment.. Next to that, aluminium cools as fast as it might heat. It's not a race party anyways
I like the variation on the Clove Hitch!.....very easy to remembder.
Useful but it trashes ropes
Not really an issue, been climbing with loads of climbers using HMS they're whole life, and no ropes showed any noticeable issues. Use it myself with no specific problems. It's very important to be familiar with, when technical safety device is lost! Ask me how I know ... Fellow climbers rejected HMS until they both lost their beloved fancy tech in snow storm 🤷🏼
Well done, this should be taught in schools as a necessary life skill.
Lol talk about shit you're never gonna use.
@@austinyun learn some knots, they'll definitely come in handy. The day you use one simple knot that you can untie again, it'll be worth it. Clove hitches are like magic, alpine butterfly, truckers hitch, prusiks, bowline are a few that could save your day or your life someday. It was worth learning to tie shoelaces, for example.
Great vid ! Thank you !
Thanks for vidéo
Excellent, quick video!
Great technique and tips. Thanks for sharing.
Well done! I love munters. Very useful for contingent rigging as well.
Detailed, thorough, and articulate demonstration. Well done!
Another excellent presentation by Mr. Bristol. Thank you.
Wow! First time I’ve come across a source identifying an issue with a bowline in non-laid rope (apart from a coroner) Well done
Very informative 👍
Super necessary
