The Mill Right Mega V Plasma/Router is performing exceptionally well now, as is the LightBurn Laser Software w post processor plasma tweaks. I'm very happy with the whole system; converts to/from routing and plasma projects in a few easy steps and only 15-20 mins.

    Do you got problems with holes that you can fix in fusion but not in lightburn

      No, not that I am aware of. What is the basis of the question ? I use both CAD programs, but 80% of the time I'm using Lightburn and the project is artsy/crafty. If it's an engineering drawing needing dimensions and constraints, then I use Fusion360 in the Sheetmetal model.

      Yoti- thanks, glad you enjoyed it. That ADC makes a huge difference in cut quality in sharp corners, as it should. As for THC Induced Z Error (THC-IZE), that's just going to happen and accumulate which a Proma THC SD or the like, and be a nuisance in jobs with > 50 cuts (shapes). So I just add a grbl "$HZ" cmd to home Z axis about every 25 or so cuts in order to mitigate it, not a problem.

      @blouchipconsulting3377 most of this is over my head 😆. With myplasm it's been pretty good. I have had some issues with torch dive as of late but I think it may be more to do with material rebound. Thc seems to kick in after a second then raise the torch.

    I just got the 60a long drag tips and the 40a gouging tips. How are they holding up for you?

    • @blouchipconsulting3377
      @blouchipconsulting3377 9 месяцев назад

      The 60A long nozzle w drag shield is awesome, I love it. Its the only tip I use on my hand torch now. I get hundreds of pierces with them, my max has probably been 300 pierces, and that is with an estimated 200 meters of cut length total on a tip. By comparison, I get upwards of 600 pierces with the 40A and 60A short nozzles (cutting not gouging) with machine torch shield on my plasma table. The difference in durability I suspect is due to the fact that I cut all sorts of rough, painted, rusted, odd shaped stuff with my hand torch, include a fair amount of expanded steel. So the long nozzle w drag shield is abused quite a bit in my case, where as the short nozzles with a machine shield on my plasma table only cuts virgin HR or CR sheet metal 16 ga to 0.25". The gouge tips I really don't use much, I got them from PW for testing, but in the few cases I've had to actually blow out a fillet weld to salvage some metal, they did great. I have yet to wear one out. I also discovered a way to improve on the durability and quality of the shield nozzles for the IPT60 and PTM60. See these photos: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Waoe4_Cew-WHDCSVuHilQ-pTBwq0jtHE and see these photos: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VXj9bSH0FjHuKXq8qV-kXCGyuYcZRSjT Also, the key to plasma cutting is using dry air. See the dry air pdf paper in this photo gallery: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Kqt8RInPSwdsv4s-5aUB3uAAHuvQLFic I hope that helps.

    I was thinking of building a hoist such as this for raising my cnc machine to the ceiling when not in use and freeing up floor space in doing so. Where is your hoist situated, and how is it hooked up? I see two pulleys on the beam attached to the ceiling and they are pointed presumably at the hoist which I am taking to be off camera to the right. Another two pulleys facing the same direction as the lifting beam. I also see a cable fastened to the centre of the beam attached to the ceiling. Where does that lead to? I also see that the cables running through the pulleys attached to the lifting beam are attached to the beam secured to the ceiling. Could you supply a drawing for this set up. is there a drawing available for sale?

    I was able to use a relay to turn the plasma torch on and it runs like a laser but its moving before it ignites so i get a partial cut. Also the kerf is about 2mm so I am still trying to find out the settings for it.

    • @blouchipconsulting3377
      @blouchipconsulting3377 2 года назад

      In LB, allowance for the kerf dimension is made using Kerf Offset field of each Layer in the Cuts/Layers window. Kerf Offset value is 1/2 the measured kerf dimension, so 1mm in your case. Positive values are outside the shape, negative values are inside; relative to the outer most shape of the layer. Then for successive inner shapes, the offset alternates to the opposite inner shape design side. Re. Dwell in LB, that is Start Pause Time field of each Layer, with added Cut Through 'switch' ON; but again you must use GRBL-M3 device which will produce M3/M5 laser (torch) ON/OFF commands and in this case a dwell (G04 time) *after* M3; where as by contrast, GRBL device will produce M4 commands intended for grbl laser mode $32=1, which is not conducive to plasma process use.

    • @blouchipconsulting3377
      @blouchipconsulting3377 2 года назад

      Sure, glad to help. Although my plasma videos of last year and early this year did credit LightBurn (LB) with not only shape design but also toolpath generation on my plasma projects, know that LB can only generate laser toolpath; thus I was post processing the laser gcode and converting it to plasma process (CNC control) gcode. Included in that post processing that I did offline from LB, I handled dwell during plasma torch firing and during torch off events. LB can generate dwell gcode correctly but it's dependent on the GRBL controller device type that is configured in LB during gcode generation, you must use device type GRBL-M3. Since May 2022 I have discontinued use of my LB laser-to-plasma post processor, instead I'm now using SheetCAM (SC), which I highly recommend. I still use LB for the shape designs, saving the design file as SVG, then Importing as Drawing into SC and proceeding to have SC generate the plasma toolpath using a customize post processor for my CNC model and features. See these forum posts for much more info on my original LB post processing process and on my new LB/SC process. forum.lightburnsoftware.com/t/update-on-plasma-use-case-success-albeit-post-processing-gcode/37258/ millrightcnc.proboards.com/thread/3563/plasma-router-custom-build-frame

    • @blouchipconsulting3377

      I did not take a serious look at ohmic sensors. Mill Right recommended the Proma SD THC, it was $250 from them, so I went with that after confirming it was a decent model and solution. It does the job very well, and from an implementation perspective, it's easy to install, use, and has no hardware on the torch; so it's a minimalist solution.
