The director accidentally pressed the macro button for 'weather' which causes all the cameras to point at the weather desk, and switches the microphone to the weather anchor. It took him a few moments to realize what had happened and I think we just cut to break (commercials) at that point.

I worked at this station. Robotic cameras don't put people out of work, they allow us to have more cameras and have them precisely controlled. What happened here was not the camera "going crazy" but rather operator error, the director simply pushed the wrong button. Also, robotic cameras never sneeze, cough, fart, or get the shakes from too much coffee or too little alcohol.

These things are currently wreaking havoc at WGN's channel 9 in Chicago. They're crappy looking and pan like a surveillance camera. The live Illinois lottery drawings are becoming a REAL circus, those poor lotto girls... They've had to abort the live drawing on several occasions due to lack of camera control. I absolutely agree, nothing can replace the finesse of a real camera man.

It has been a few years since I've shot it. I'm sure it works just fine. $200 these days for a 75 round drum, that's a great deal and you're lucky to get one. They're hard to find nowadays.
