The planned opening is at the very end of 2026. The (online) WSI Airport Construction Plan Stage One is probably the easiest to interpret in the schedule given on page 13. Some key dates include: - The first terminal building - complete in April 2025 (Note, does not include tech services and business fit-outs - like leased shops and agency areas like security, immigration etc.) - Tech (computer/data systems etc.) in Sep 2025. - Aerodrome certification in April 2026 (similar to the level in Metro system construction when full scale testing can be done) - Transitional services (preparing for real operations - e.g. recruitment, security, training and certification of airport staff in December 2026. Something to keep in mind. Like a metro system, but far more complex, a major airport has to be thoroughly tested before declared safe and ready for actual opening. It includes time for correction of any issues found, which is a bit of an unknown (e.g like the current issues delaying opening of Parramatta Light Rail). Hence the time allowed is usually measured in several months, not days or weeks It will 'look finished' long before it actually is opening. So when they say it will be open in 'late 2026', they mean 31 Dec 2026.
