So, I’m finally back to making RUclips videos after coming back from Japan. I just wanted to go over some of the reasons that it took me a few weeks to get myself back into the right mindset of making videos again. To be honest, I really wish that we never had to leave Japan, and hopefully that will change one day haha. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this little catch-up video. 🎶 Music: Epidemic Sou...
Language Learning with no Motivation

Because motivation is something I had struggled with a lot in the past, I wanted to do everything I could to continue language learning with no motivation. That way, even on the bad days, I know I will still be progressing. Looking back on 2024, it has been the most productive year I have had studying Japanese. To be honest, I wasn’t fully aware of the changes I had made and stuck to until I st...

I felt it was an important realisation for me, one that will hopefully be a step in the right di...

Spending the day in an old Japanese town
Honestly, seeing how some of the footage turned out from my Japan trip was a little disheartening to say the least. Although I'm going to work hard to make it look as good as possible form my Travel Diary Series! I also spent so long trying to set up a new Instagram account for this channel. I have no idea why it was insta banned, so I guess it'll be a couple days before I can start posting haha
Am doing my best for super version of myself
It's definitely a good way to make the change that you want to see. For me personally, if I'm not tracking my progress so I can see it, it can feel like there isn't any. It really does help a lot when you can see even the smallest improvements!
I'm excited to see what this new year will bring, possibly for the first time in a long time. I've never been one to set big goals like this for myself, but this really does feel like the year for change! What are your 2025 Goals?
I notice when I switch from my iphone to camera my mic audio didn’t sound as good as well. Like it’s not bad but def way better connecting the same microphone to my phone
So it took a little while, but I'm finally back. It felt really good to actually start making videos again, and I have plans to make even more content moving forward. Let me know your thoughts on my upcoming Japan Travel videos! would you rather see shorter videos going day by day, or longer videos that go from location to location?
Very nice video man:) thanks for this!
Thanks heaps for the encouragement!!
i am student from somalia i saw this video right now whithout comment thats not fair how could happen this beautifull video high quallty without comment camon guy
Thank you for the kind words! RUclips is definitely a journey, and is filled with so many amazing creators. The competition is high, but I will never give up haha
So I have been sitting on making this video for some time, and that is just because it is such an important topic to me. I do hope that this information is at least somewhat helpful to other, because I do feel like it has improved my language learning greatly. If you have any other study tips, I think it would be amazing if you posted them in the comments! What's your reason 'why' for studing a second language?
MAKE VIDEOS YOU ENJOY THATS ALL
I definitely plan to for sure!! Sorry it took me 6 days to check your comments, but you truly just made my day to be honest! I'm working on another video right now too! It has been a crazy week with planning for this upcoming month long trip to Japan. I've been so busy with planning and testing how I want to film it that time gets away from my haha
KEEP MAKING VIDEOS BRO
BRO UR SO UNDERATED
I struggled a lot with a lack of motivation to start making this video. However, once I started, I felt really good about it. I am happy I got this video out, because this is an issue that had been weighing on me for some time. It can be defeating and demotivating to do something you aren't happy doing, so making a change is a must when stuck in this mindset. I hope you're all doing well, and I hope you got at least something out of this video.
@@Thomas.HarrisonYT thank you bro. Keep creating and ill keep watchimg
As someone who was kinda wondering about some what if’s today, this video really spoke to me as a beginner creator/artist. I’m honestly super proud of you for beginning and I wish you all the best on your journey. 🙏🏾
Thank you very much for this comment! I have a video that I'm actually editing right now that goes over some of the difficulties with the process that I have had. Being a beginner creator is not easy, it has been really hard to find my path to be honest. I'm not about to give up, and I hope you never do either. I hope you find success in your art, and your content creation!
Sooo Boring vlog
Thank you for this lovely tour of your in-laws house. It is beautiful house with a fabulous garden and surrondings. Now when I am going to sleep at night, I am going to imagine that I have a house like that in Japan😀🇯🇵
Thank you for this amazing comment! haha I feel the exact same way when we come back home to Melbourne. I'm really excited for our next trip, which I will hopefully have a much better Travel Series for once we get back!
I spent quite a bit of time building this template in a way that simple to jump in and start planning your next trip with easy. While also offering different ways to document your travels, so you will never forget the amazing journeys you have been on. This video took way longer to get out than I expected, not because it wasn't finished, more so because it took longer to set up Etsy more than anything else haha
Hey my name is ohzey, I also make food content not yet being paid still trying to build, really interested to connect with you and make content with you too, if you really like traveling, I’m from Nigeria 🇳🇬, I also love travel too and making plans to create travel content too 🎉dm
Yet another late upload, sorry haha. I'm working hard to break this little trend, but there is a lot going on with work and planning this upcoming trip among many other things. I'm really pumped to start trying to build up this side hustle, as well as this trip to Japan coming around so fast now. There is going to be a lot of great content coming up with this trip, I'm so excited to share this journey with you all!
Nothing is late brother you’re too early ❤
actually
I would be curious of the prices of these new homes that you viewed.
I'll be back in a couple of months, I'll definitely try to find out and provide an update on the price for you.
I think this is the first video I have made by just jumping into it. I didn't plan out any talking points or a script at all for this one, pretty much just to see how it would go. This video wasn't actually easy to make, as it was s little disheartening to look back at the things I didn't do, and talking about my dad is still not easy. I do think that planning is super important, and it has made me want to think more seriously again. I hope you all enjoy this video! Let me know what your plans are, and when you hope to accomplish them!
great thoughts
Yeah, I feel like tacking a step back was a step in the right direction for sure. Still new to the concept of a brain dumb, and it was bit odd just writing in a notebook to get thoughts out. It really did help give some clarity on the thing's I want though.
@@Thomas.HarrisonYT i really like that!
I've really been trying to get out of my own head with making videos. I've been feeling a bit stuck lately, feeling like there is always something that I don't like about what I have made. Mostly it is just me nitpicking I suppose. I've been trying to get myself out of this perfectionist mindset, which is one reason I decided to not use any background music. I wanted this video to be a little more raw, and in a way, embrace the imperfections. Sorry it's been a while since my last video.
Is father an architect?
My father in-law is more of a hobbyist I'd say, not an architect by trade. He just new what he wanted in a dream home, and so he had it built the way it was. His father (my wife's grandfather) was a a landscaper, which is why there was such a focus on such an amazing garden.
Hey, quite interesting thins LingQ platform! Personally, I`ve started off finishing Genki 1, and now I have a mix of taking private lessons once a week using Marugoto, Bunpro for Grammar, Anki for vocabulary, and a kanji app to help me study while I`m commuting. Nice video
This is an absolutely stunning home. As others have said, it brilliantly mixes traditional Japanese-style houses with some modern Western-style, and I love all the tech like controlling the water temp of the bath from elsewhere, as well as being able to use the intercom back to the kitchen from the bath! - "Put the dinner on, I'll be out in 10!" 😁
yeah, that is actually the perfect use for that intercom system, it has become my dream home! haha
It looks a superb house, and I'd also love to know how much it costs when that info comes out, but I'm curious about why the front door has a big barrier in front of it. Seems like an odd thing to have, as if to hide you from view when you enter/exit, but only if someone is looking straight-on. Plus, if you're trying to bring something bulky into the house, such as a bed, that's just going to get in the way, unless it's easily taken out and put back in after.
You know what, I didn't even question the design when we were there of the entrance, but you make some good points. I am going to try find out the price when we go back in a few months, so I will hopefully have an update on that at some point.
@@Thomas.HarrisonYT Thanks 😃
Beauty is subjective, but imo those lighting fixtures are atrocious haha!
Nice ingenuity that went into that construction!
Yeah, it has become my dream home haha. I just feel instantly relaxed whenever we are there.
great to have two bathrooms in Japan.
Simply beautiful
just curiouse why is the wash basin in the entrance hallway? seems like a strange place to brush your teeth right
The entrance actually has 2 sides, and you can close sliding doors to block the washroom off. The left side entrance goes straight into the main living space. Japanese home in the city are somewhat small, so they tend to build upward. Seeing it in person really does make a lot of sense, just because I'm not too sure where else it would have been better.
@@Thomas.HarrisonYT yeah British homes are also small and tend to build upwards too - wash basins would normally be in the bathroom where one would usually wash, I’ve seen some other Japanese homes where the wash basin area is combined with the laundry/untility room which is adjacent to the bathroom but not one where it is in the homes entrance hallway - different I suppose, but as u say a functional use of space that you might otherwise only use to enter or exit into the street
Ok I think ive found my dream house lol. Or at least the style. I absolutely love the modern rustic style with all the wood, plants and minimalism.
Yeah, it really is such a great style! When we go back this year I'm going to try find out how much they're going for haha
So LingQ has a lot of useful features that I didn't really cover in this video. However, the LingQ 101 course does explain these features, so I would recommend using that course to learn how to use LingQ. It was so satisfying to learn how to use LingQ in my target language, which is why I recommend doing so. It really is a motivation booster! Haha I hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know what you think!
Nice work Thomas! My wife is from Osaka and it's funny to see that you've been to many of the same places as we have. You did a great job covering the series. Keep it up and don't give up hope. Your channel will grow!
Thank you! I really enjoy Osaka a lot, there's just so much to do. We are going back in about 5 months, so I need to start pre-booking Universal Studio Japan tickets to try get in to Super Nintendo World. Tickets sold out the whole time we were there last time haha
@@Thomas.HarrisonYT, yes we went to USJ and Nintendo Land is worth it! There is also a restaurant at the bottom of the stairs to the left. You have to make a reservation for that too! Good is good and better than most park food. I'll try and get the name for you. My boys and I enjoy racing so we like to go to the kart tracks. Suzuka Circuit (in Mie Prefecture) is one of my favorite places. If you get the chance go to Awaji-shima and the park with Godzilla, Naruto and more was fun. Also some good desert places. Namba is probably my favorite area in Osaka. There's more places I want to check out though. Nara's Daibutsu is great but was better before you had to pay to see it.
@@BionicMadness Ohh! Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely looking into booking the restaurant also. I've been to USJ before, but that was back in 2019 before Nintendo Land. There's so many new things now, so I'm excited to go back.
@@Thomas.HarrisonYT Our last three or four trips have involved USJ. Nintendo Land is a great addition.
What is the price of the house????
This was just the first display house to show what the others will look like in the area, so they unfortunately didn't have prices when we were there. We will be back there in a few months, so I plan to look into it they!
enjoy your trip!! i've been there once for a week and it was absolutely magnificent!!
Very informative, i might have to purchase one now. Thank you!
Yeah, I have wanted a good one even before getting the ZV-E10, but now I felt that it is a necessity for travel filming! haha
He everyone! sorry for just another short update video, I really do need to plan more to talk about haha In saying that, if you're planning on getting the Sony ZV-E10 for filming your travels, I really can't recommend a good power bank and additional batteries more. I'm sure anyone who is a ZV-E10 user would probably agree, as for the price it really is the only downside. If you don't want to invest in a big power bank, the additional batteries are actually super affordable! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the video!
incerdible done!🙌
Thank you so much! I was going to write a short comment but you beat me to it! haha
Thomas bro, I have no words. Your house is in a very beautiful area. Beautiful, clean, environment and Japan is different and your house is very beautiful. God bless you always.❤🇮🇳
Thank you so much for the kind words! I will say though that this was just a display home in Osaka, maybe someday my wife and I will make the move to Japan haha
@@Thomas.HarrisonYT My brother, wherever you live, you will be very happy, but I pray to God that you learn Japanese language well and progress and settle down in Japan. I also have a big dream of going to Japan. And I have subscribed to your channel and I will also follow you on Instagram. Lvu bro🇮🇳
Love the hustle!! You need a video editor bro ? I can do a sample video :)
トーマスさん、日本で福井で頑張ってください。 陰ながら応援しています。
本当にありがとうございます!また福井に戻るのをとても楽しみにしています。田舎には何かとてもリラックスできるものがあります!
Thankfully this video uploaded, hopefully you can all see it. For some reason it isn't showing up for me in Studio... I've been playing with the idea of turning what I feel is my worst trait being procrastination into something positive. I'm pretty confident that I can use it as a productivity tool to help further my language studies. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this video!
Thanks for sharing! Love the use of buttons. Have you started using Notion AI yet?
Thank you! I have only really used Notion AI for pretty basic things, like studying Japanese. I use it to create short stories, then translate them into Japanese, because it seems to do it in a fairly natural way. I really should dive into it more for other things though haha
looks good sounds like you like it did you get one
Haha I wish, but moving from Australia to Japan isn't in the cards for us right now. Maybe someday!
Hi everyone, I hope you enjoy this video! To be honest, this one was pretty spur of the moment. I pretty much planned, filmed and editing all in the same day. Sorry if it was a little fast pace, I did it all before starting work. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Gorgeous home - tranquil & peaceful. The garden is amazing.
It really is! I feel instantly relaxed whenever we stay at my in-laws house, which sometimes just makes me want to stay in even though I want to be out exploring haha
I had to learn to slow down and stop...and remember the "why" behind what I was doing. That helped. I like that mindfulness book called 30 Days to Overcome Procrastination by Corin Devaso.
I've learned to do that also myself, that's why I don't beat myself up as bad as I used to when I get stuck procrastinating. I'll have to check out that book though, I've been meaning to do more reading haha
Your thumbnail and captions are pretty catchy! Caught my attention as a user
I'm glad to hear that! It's difficult to think of what to do for a thumbnail and whatnot as it doesn't come naturally to me haha
