I missed this when live, sorry. Great piece of info but you both have completely missed the major issue! At least for used vehicles. Although you have touched on this indirectly with the issues around a no dedicated channel/ path to resolve problems, let alone efficiently. But this and the data base (of fabricated values) are all secondary to the main problem of this all being reliant on the data to be sourced, read and entered correctly into the system by people who are not competent to do so! Prior to the clean car scam it was rare for these same people to enter even the make and model correctly, at all! From experience we have never got to the point were we can debate the fabricated irrelevant data, we have been stuck resolving data. And even this is a secondary issue. The people doing the data entry are supposed to be there to visually determine that a vehicle is mechanically safe to enter service on our roads, which they weren’t accurately doing even if they had the chance. And now the limited time they had to do this is now consumed by data fetching and entry. Not criticising those in these roles they are highly skilled, but not one of any use for this task. Most have a standard of writing below the standard for a primary school level. And this has a string on effect into dealerships whereby those employed to bring the vehicles up to standard are having to repurpose this time to attempt to rectify data entry issues. I dont know anyone who has got through this and has moved on to resolving the incorrectly manipulated data.
