You can definitely tell difference right away from the approved take on the LP. Different phrasing, and in the bridge with the chorus, you'll notice he's not singing along. It's only the orchestra and chorus at first, then he joins in. Makes me wonder if this was the first attempt, since it sounds a bit less polished. And your 45 is in mono. Makes me wonder if the alternate exists in stereo. Great find! When Decca released The Complete Decca Albums a few years back, I feel they missed a great opportunity to issue his complete recordings for the label. The albums were based on the British releases, so some songs included in the United States are missing. So, the collector has to track down those missing tracks on other releases that have songs they already own. I feel they should have just issued everything for the label, including singles and alternate takes. Thanks for this great upload!
