Hi and welcome 🙂 I am a passionate jazz improviser residing in Kiruna, Northern Sweden. I hope you like my videos! Be sure to follow me on Instagram @puddemusic. I play mostly jazz, but at times i also like to play the blues, classical music and even some shred guitar.

My daughters plays a game on their phone, and asks me if I can play this. Sure I said. It took me quite some time to get it reasonably well 😂 Quite a challenge with hybrid picking style. There are a few mistakes here and there, sorry about that. It’s the best I can manage at the moment 😊

A few tips on how i think about the major scale modes. Find the unique character of a given mode, don’t think in terms of starting the major scale from different degrees of the scale.

When i heard Jeff with Tal Wilkenfeld doing this tune i was blown away by his expression on the guitar. I can’t play like Jeff, but i love the tune and here’s my take on it. Joey D’s playing, so phenomenal. I tend to return to his organ work frequently and transcribe, such wonderful ideas which has the swing in it. Good practice for approach notes and enclosures 😊

I love this classic song ❤️ And i think it’s really important that even if you are an instrumentalist, whether be it a guitarist, horn player or pianist, you have to be able to make a complete musical statement, not only playing the cool lines of a solo. I hope you’ll enjoy this one 🙏

Thank you, i’m so glad you liked it! 🙏😊 I don’t think i think about it that much, but i do recognize when i’m approaching chord tones like the major third that i adjust to land on an important note. welcome back. I have to admit that i have had to develop my ears better to better understand modes. i now think of them as colours and possibilities of how they can resolve..

@ I think of Dorian more in terms of what that major 6 sounds like in minor. Like the singing note in chora corazao by jobim. That 6th is the core of the song, its mood and colour. The other chords of the song are elements to get back to that mood. I used to think of Dorian as the ii in c major and I was missing the point I think. Same for Lydian. I think of blue in green. That augmented forth is the focus of a particular mood, and colour

can you give tips on how to get that fat jazzy guitar tone? what gear do you use?
Thank you 🙏😊 I think much of the tone also comes from your fingers and touch. Let’s see now i use a Victor Baker Model 15 guitar, an Acoustic Image SL-R amp coupled with a Raezers Edge Stealth 12 cabinet. On my pedalboard i use the Mad Professor Forest green compressor and a Strymon El Capistan delay. My pick choice is currently Vallee Arts picks in France (love them). Hope that helps 😊

Hi Adolfo! 😊 I’m on a few albums, but not as a solo artist, and unfortunately not jazz. My dream is to make my own albums but jazz musicians are pretty much absent in my area in Sweden. Maybe i should start with a solo album? 😀
