The Herbothecary Natural health
Добавлен 27 июл 2018
Welcome to the Herbothecary channel. I’m Carly, the resident herbothecarist. I have created this channel to help others discover the wonders that can be found in nature all around them. I have been experimenting and researching the ancient recipes that have been used by our ancestors for centuries and creating a few of my own along the way. By making these videos, I hope I can help you on your path to discovery and adventure and maybe help with a few short cuts along the way and when the weather isn’t conducive to outsideyness we get busy indoors with crochet, macrame and lotsa other diy projects so please like and subscribe. It makes a difference.

It’s a pleasure. Happy spooky season to you. 🎃 xx
Is it true that in the UK your nettles have male and female plants? I've found in northern NY state our sun loving nettles have both male and female on the same plant. I started harvesting flowers when I came across the correct information and waited for the seeds to develope. Which is happening now. Ever couple days I'll harvest the laden, well develope seed pods. I leave them out for a day and then bring them in and place on a window screen over a collection box. The seeds are so tiny they fall through the screen! I gently stir them with a spatula shaped pice of wood. I have not been to the forest lately to see what the woods nettles are doing. Can't wait to get out and see how my ginseng patchs are doing. Lots of nettles there.
@@timothylongmore7325 I couldn’t say that it never happens. But in the almost 15 years I’ve been foraging nettles I am yet to find a nettle plant with both. It have found each stalk to either be one or the other. However as the grow in masses it could be possible that one plant had both a male stalk and a female. I leave a section of my garden behind my greenhouse for the nettles to do their thing so I can ensure they’ve not been sprayed as cannot really trust list of unsprayed areas released by our local council. Our local park is listed as unsprayed but I’ve personally seen them doing it for the past 5 years So my harvests are smaller but safe and sufficient for my needs ❤️
I've watched a couple of your video's, they are great, if folks cant keep up, hit pause or read transcript, you choose, its all there, ❤❤
Are you still using this?
@@mrsd2143 I am but mostly for lettuce and spinach’s and in a shaded area as I found it dried out to quick in a sunny spot and couldn’t keep up with watering thrice daily despite using water retaining gel beads in the bottom I have now bought another for indoors that I keep my aloe pups in as they’re more drought tolerant and are just happy with a weekly spray 🥰. I am thinking of getting another for growing oyster mushrooms as I was treated to a few kits for my birthday

The seeds that you say are not drooping are in fact flowers on the male plant which you do not want to pick or consume. This is basic knowledge. Why do you think you have the know how to make a video like this.
@@Homm1965 I am fully aware they’re the flowers. As I am fully aware that you’re clearly an unpleasant person. If you had taken a second to read some of the comments you would have realised that many people did not know not to consume the leaves a plant that is in flower /seed. So the phrase if you have nothing nice to say is obviously lost on you. Clearly my posts are not for you. So kindly and abruptly MOVE ALONG !!!
@@theherbothecarynaturalheal318 you should probably rewatch your video before you make such comment. I have moved on.
@@Homm1965 I am happy for you. I have rewatched my video twice. Other than referring to them as lateral lying seeds that aren’t ready What other information is so incorrect ? I make it clear that the rest of the plant should not be consumed once they’ve reached this stage. And that only the drooping seeds are suitable. This is the first time I have felt the need to comment back to a comment like this
Great video, you are giving me so much value. Sending my blessing x
Thank you so much. I am so pleased you found the information useful I very much enjoy sharing xxx blessings back to you xxx

I was introduced to them on a course many years ago. But this is the first time I’ve encountered them “in their natural environment” They work surprisingly well. 🥳

I haven't found many medicines I can take without side effects. I'd been thinking about this recently. So thanks for the inspiration. I have Osier in the garden, it has a sort of silvery bark.
Love to try using this pattern to make a shirt. We'll see if it comes to fruition
Oh wow. Fabulous idea. Have you see the video I did on the shawl version? It works into a triangle. Alternatively. I’d possible do many seperate rows and then attach them. Please do share your progress. And the very best of luck. Xxx
Hi, I would like to try this. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊
I absolutely love gorse. I’ve even used it to flavour oils and honey. It’s my pleasure to share Would you like to be considered for the scoby giveaway ? It’s also posted on My Facebook group. 🥰. Enjoy. And remember avoid high pollution areas (I don’t so much worry about animal spraying on the bush! They’re smart enough to avoid the ‘pricks’) 🤣
Hi, is it allowed to sell a finished product when giving credit to this pattern?
Hi Melissa If you’ve made this into your own item to sell. Then go ahead I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to. We all get ideas from somewhere. And I alway attribute to the inspiration. But go ahead and good luck xx
Thank you. Awesome presentation, I learned a ton. Aloha 🌺🤙
Thank you. I’m so happy you found it useful Aloha to you too 🌱🌺
The reason this knowledge is so valuable to me is a Medicare Advantage scam fraudulently signed me up and WON'T cancel. So I can only control what I put in my body . So now I have removed my few medications over the last two months including aspirin, ibprophen, etc. I quit eating 90% of any products with any additives only eating whole foods. I've lost over 50 lbs. in six months. So herbal remedies are what I found that works . Herbs like oregano, horsetail, stinging nettles, raspberry leaves, various mint leaves, peppercorns, etc. all do the job just takes a few applications. I just don't trust anything medical anymore. Big pharma is only about profit and once trust is gone only being healthy is my chosen path. I feel bad for my Dr. of 8 years, he is under their control too. Too much corruption, I am turning 70 this Spring. Again I will say thank you for the information. You're awesome 👍😎 Aloha🌺
Hi! This turned out adorable! Thank youuuuuu! 😊❤ I have one request, could you add the stitch as text to the screen so I can pause and still remember what you said! I did have to back up several times tonhear you say what is happening. (I'm severely ADHD and forget VERY quickly what i just heard, so text is always helpful for my type of brain! Otherwise, your voice is clear and very understandable! I'm making a winter scarf with several different angel appliques! ❤😊❤ I can't wait to dive into your halloween crochet skulls pattern; there so perfect! (We're huge Halloween fans!) Delete if this is not okay for your channel, but if you check my channel, we do a huge halloween set at our house, and I think my hubby would love a scarf with your skulls on it!💀🖤💀
Hi there. Thank you so much for your comment. I will re-edit this video with the written stitch count as soon as I manage to get the 2nd part of the baby shoes video to upload. The crochet skulls are also one of my favourites. My daughter even has one as a throw on her bed. We are very big Halloween fans too. As soon as my birthday at the end of august is out the way. My girls and I go into Halloween DIY mode and decorate from the 1st of October 🥰 I am still pleased you enjoyed the pattern for the angel. They do work out really cute! I am turning mine into bunting and tree decorations for our white Christmas area upstairs. We go a little more traditional downstairs with green, red and gold. So il be working on the poinsettias for downstairs 🥰 Again thank you for your input. I will pop over to your channel and have a nose 🥰

What a great lot of information, thank you. I've never used the seeds, so I'm inspired this year! I cut mine down a few months ago so currently not flowering. Hopefully I've not messed up collecting this year.
Fingers crossed. I cut mine back at the end of august just before my birthday and they’re 4 foot tall and flowering again. They shouldn’t completely stop growing until the first proper frost. But I’ve got jars of seeds if you’d like me to send you some to try xx

So cute. I’ve got two finished so far. It’s super easy and beginners can do this easily. You go at a good pace for experienced crocheters. The vid can be slowed down for anyone who may need to go slower. Thanks for the tutorial and pattern ❤
Thank you. I was in the process of remaking the video as some find my speed too fast. But I’m wondering if I should just suggest they pause or slow it down The project may only take 20 minutes or so per skull. But recording and editing a new video takes days 🤦 xx
@@theherbothecarynaturalheal318 oh I’m sure it is time consuming to film and edit. I’ve seen many videos where the creator will suggest slowing the speed down and/or pause and rewind if necessary. I’ve gave up on slow paced videos before simply because I haven’t got the patience. I just made your spiderweb bunting last night and the pace was perfect, btw
@@jencrochetingradtech5913 thank you. I do enjoy sharing. Which is why I teach and do the videos. And in my classes I go at whatever speed each student requires. But I also lose interest (thank gods for the forward option) when videos go so slow. I do have beginners videos for them. Both hubby and brother told me I don’t get anything other than the joy of sharing and shouldn’t redo the video I loves the spider web bunting. Are you having a Halloween party too ? I have tons of black walnut trees and didn't know what to do with all the fallen nuts.. Thank you..
We are always looking for ways to use the “unusable”. I’m jealous you have lots I was just happy to find some that I was allowed to harvest for the experiment. The tanning oil is potent. The colour actually got darker over night which looks abit weird as only did patch tests to show 🤦. I believe the oil also makes a great hair dye but my hair is too dark already I added some tea tree oil to the tanning oil in the end to act as a preservative to see how long it will store for x
That was great to see!

Im glad you are NOT a doctor They work for the big pharma companies Instead people like yourself and many others work for the people’s well-being This planet was set up with all what we needed to thrive The more I dig into herbalism myself the more I understand that. And how marvellous each plant is, often having many uses Big fan of nettles although firstly year collecting seeds, got three massive drying racks and that’s just only a touch in the garden Nature is supporting until is our time to reincarnate somewhere else Many thanks for this video ❤
Thank you so much. And you’re so right about nature I grow many “wild” edibles and medicinals in my garden by harvesting seeds and spreading the seeds. From echinacea for immune boosting to valerian for mental well being. I developed a horrible chest infection and cough earlier this year and out of nowhere coltfoot and a giant mullein plant popped up in my garden which I use to ease the symptoms As it’s their first year the mullein should not have flowered but when my daughter got an ear infection which didn’t ease after a week of antibiotics then 5 huge spears of flowers appeared. So I made an oil infusion with the flowers. And her ear infection was gone in 2 days. 🥰. I’m doing a video on the oil and tincture today 🥰. Thank you again for the kind words and keep researching
Please give your address in India
Sorry. I’m confused. I do not live in India
i have been searchin youtube and the internet for info if these work, and if so how. i could only find people setting/hanging them up but no follow ups, or full walls fully planted without instructions. thank you so much!
So did I which is why I did the video I have finally made it work by keeping it in a shady area and growing shade loving shallow rooting plants (mostly herbs like basil and parsley) so they don’t dry out I think if a drip system was in place they’d work a lot better xx
