What is it for you? Are you lacking inspiration or newness? Often we have a skill in one area. Great consumers or shoppers but never creating outfits or wearing same clothes over & still not creating anything new Or maybe you don't buy much but you're great at trying something new with those items. Perhaps you’ve heard you should build a capsule full of versatile pieces that are timeless. Or maybe you should be a minimalist? Clear it all and learn to live with items that only you use day to day? But then again, don’t the maximalist’s look like they are having fun. So much choice! So many items to play with! So many ways to express yourself! And they also get to look back with such fondness at the great items they own & can pass on to their children. So what should you do?? Here are my guiding principles for myself and my clients. The ideal wardrobes will: 1. Help you function in your actual not dream life and prepare you for the future 2. Helps you express who you are & inspire you for your future 3. Ensure you feel at ease in your body and be comfortable being visible. Ideal is so personal to you, the key is to work out what’s out of balance for you. Here are 5 questions to journal on to figure that out. - What spaces lift your energy - eg clear and clean environments or ones full of colour and texture of a mix or both? - Does your wardrobe match your current lifestyle? - Do you remember everything you own and know where to find it? - What are you holding onto that’s holding you back? - What feels out of balance? Eg Outfitting confidence, knowing what suits you, understanding what is modern, giving your self the time and space to focus on yourself? Great style is about defining what works for you & then creating it! On your terms! For your life! For your personality! For your energy!
I think you should make a video explaining some of this stuff. I think it’s more interesting watching a video about it than reading a comment.

Can you recommend boots for women with thin ankles and legs like myself? I struggle to find anything flattering because most boots make me look like mickey mouse.
Yes of course! I’ll keep my eye out for it in my videos. Even just lightening the colour on your boots and looking for a less chunky tread will help. The fabric stretch leathers can be great & worth a try as less heavy.

Are you feeling a shift in your style? Perhaps a lot of your current clothes aren’t fulfilling you the way they once did? The way you know is to identify your alarm words. Words that you DONT want to feel. For me ‘playful’ has recently been added to that list. I don’t mind fun or unexpected but there’s something about playful that feels too young. I was fine with this word a year ago. To release that word I need to up my game with my current style words. Cool/Elegant/Statement but evolve how I engage with the words. Last year ‘playful’ would have been tied into ‘statement’ but this year statement is about larger sillohuettes, interesting texture and quality investments that make me feel more powerful. During one of my regular visit to the UK, I recently went to one of M&S larger, flag shop stores "Culverhouse Cross" Cardiff. I wanted a basic V neck lite knit jumper. I was so disappointed, no V necks throughout the store. The length off their jeans is mind boggling. I used to buy "long" in their jeans and trousers, which are now far too long so I went for regular. Now I have a 31" leg length and even regular was too long. Sizing was all over the place, which meant I took two of the same items into the changing room, I think the lady there got fed up of me. I left with nothing! I'm a regular visitor to M&S , stocking up before returning home, this time my bank account was safe.
That sounds like such a frustrating experience. I hope M&S sees this and hoping that for new season you find some v-necks you like. I’d definitely look at uniqlo and white stuff for v-necks

I always think with M&S they are almost there with colours and styles but just miss the stylish up to date ones by a shade or two. And their sizing needs sorting. It’s all over the place.
Hi Maureen, I agree that nuance of colour is absent in lower high street stores. I don’t know if you find this the same in their autograph collection but I often find the colours have more Sophistication there. Do you have a brand you’d like me to go into next?

Just stick to plain basics in M&S, racks full of the same garments with strange colours ,unlined jackets , weird polyester dress , cotton tops that are paper thin, yuk! No thank you , it makes me thing of cloning 😂

Most retail shops stock the same kind of stuff. Quality isn't always there.

I always find their colours depressing, weird tones.
Do check their autograph collection, I find the quality of colour is better but it maybe as a brand it’s not the right one for you.
