The tea party scene where Bolan dresses as the mad hatter and plays the medley on acoustic guitar with the string quartet. It was shot in May 1972 (Lennon was already in the US by that time, but Ringo was still using the grounds).

When the DVD of this came out in 2005 I saw it twice a day for several months afterward as well (and it was nice to get both matinee and evening shows in their entirety, as well).

I did the same in Belfast, i actually bought the DVD in New Zealand were i was working on a ship, did not know it had been released.

Watching him perform, one definitely gets the sense he was doing what he was born to do. He seems to be having the time of his life up there on stage, sheer joy. That alone makes me think he would definitely still be making music if he were alive today. Damn. Such a loss. RIP Marc, your star shone short but bright, you were too great to be forgotten. <3 <3 <3

You could say that of many, but also their music could have diminished over the years too, as has been the case for many musicians who didn't die young.

​ @Martin Taper We CANNOT say that of many! The point is Marc Bolan DID die young, in a stupid car accident AND his music, his talent, his beauty DOES hold up. That makes HIM more tragic than many other early deaths whose music DID diminish. Marc Bolan's gifts are always timeless, classic and beloved. He had it all. I say that NOT as a fan of his. I say this as a fan of music. I didn't hear him on the radio, so I didn't know much about him til he was killed in an auto accident. I know SO many musicians and people in the music industry who were greatly influenced by him. They mourn him above others whose music didn't hold up. My talent is recognizing talent. I somehow became part of the professional rock n roll world as an acclaimed rock photographer. ONLY said to establish my credentials. YOU may disagree, of course. But most would say losing Marc Bolan so young was uniquely tragic like losing Otis Redding (altho I'll take Marc over Otis). Not yet recognized by mainstream media. Wasn't massively on radio and having huge hits like earlier British Invasion like the Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks. So we lost him before the world at large realized his genius, his unique voice, lyrics, and beauty. Which ALL hold up now. Typing as I'm listening to songs for the first time from this vid. Wow.
