    thanks for your tips Sam, It's useful. However, i am facing some difficulties while DJ smoke, getting rarely a sharp focus and most of the time losing depth of field. Moreover, need tips since very low light, censor can't focus the subject since dark or DJ light. Looking for your valued tips.

    I have been using this method for a long time, but always with my flash in TTL mode and the flash pointing upwards with a MagMod MagSphere attached. Works perfectly and solves the issue with adjusting the flash power manually all the time :)

    You can also do the recompose shot to off-centre by pressing the half-shutter? I don't get it how using the back button to focus gives more control and speed.

    Finally someone that has some sense!! Rear curtain sync only works for something that you're totally in control, like someone dancing and the drag is part of the dancing steps to finally the subject land in a specific position that the flash will fire and freeze. Doesn't work for these wedding situations, as you mentioned, you want to capture immediately what's happening, 1s later may be too late.

    Great video Sam. I took away two big lessons from this (1) Smile; (2) Don’t dwell on bad shots. Now I’m looking back on some weddings I’ve done over the last few years, and I’m kicking myself for the times I took a bad shot and then wasted time thinking about it. And the times I got tired or down about something on the day, and lost my smile.

    • @SamDocker
      @SamDocker 3 месяца назад

      I try to! But if you're shooting at f8 on a 24mm, you've got a lot of depth to play with before someone is in or out of focus.

    Amazing video thank you so much!! What is rear curtain sync?? Could you explain a bit more?

    • @SamDocker
      @SamDocker 3 месяца назад

      Thanks! Rear curtain sync is when the flash fires at the end of the shutter, so if it's open for a fraction of a second, it fires at the end of that time, rather than the start of it. You want it to fire at the start, that way you capture the moment quicker. Hope that helps!

    • @erikamoore2460
      @erikamoore2460 3 месяца назад

      @@SamDocker thank you! Sorry but how do you get it to fire at the start? Is that just changing the camera settings?

    • @SamDocker
      @SamDocker 3 месяца назад

      @@erikamoore2460 Depends which camera you're on?! But most default would be to fire at the start, some people advise you to change it to rear curtain, but I don't agree with that.
