Carfting A Grimdark Warhammer 40k Diorama | Facing The Abyss
Hey folks,
Since I´m kinda enthusiastic about Wh40k these days, I made another little diorama in the grim darkness of the 41st milennium. This time 3 Cadians facing a Deathguard´s Bloat-Drone. I hope you enjoy it!
If you have any suggestions, I would be glad if you left me a comment or subscribe to my channel. Cheers!

hey man, love the diorama, was wondering if you could list the paints you used to paint those ultramarines? would love to paint some in this style
This diorama is absolutely stunning! :D Great work my dude! :D
@@dappledane7975 thanks, man. Appreciate it!
bruh the music and the diorama made me feel like i was playing through the orginal final fantasy 7. Walking through the slums, turks bugging you. Really awesome job.
Thanks, man! Really glad you enjoyed it!
So facinated, almost forgot to like.
Phenomenal job
Thanks, man! Gald you like it!
Is the epoxy intended to be something like acid or is it just some really contaminated water?
That´s up to your imagination ;) My eyes are actually really bad at seeing greens, so for me it´s just regular muddy water :D
THAT IS SO COOL . This is giving me inspiration
Thanks, man. Really gald you like it!
Nice video
Thanks, man!
This is really a very interesting design, full of creativity! By the way, does anyone know what background music is?
Glad you like it! It´s basically stock music from artlist. io ^^
That one mutant holding his sword backwards. Not Nurgle's finest.
its a shame when your diorama looks best in the dark, sand/dirt would give allot more depth to the floor in areas where it looks quite flat and would give a more convincing rubble pile look. making the uniforms more weathered, with the same paints as the terrain, would tie everything together better and i think that painting the greenery greatly improves it too. i am being very nitpicky in all fairness
Fair points! Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it.
wow this is incredible :D would love to see more
@@MichiFace6 Thanks, man. Really appreciate it!
Thats a nice diorama. Wht music did you used for the portrayal of the diorama? Thanks
Man.. I'm already subbed to you? I was so excited to see a video of your work. Still fun to watch!
That´s so great to hear. Thanks for the support!
Play NECROPOLIS28 on this now!!!!
Really liked it. Only question is why the ultra marine is sprinting at the edge of a platform?
love this works . give me more to assimilate <3
40k views. Nice.
Envious. Truly so envious of your skills. I recently only started painting minis and i hope to create a diorama 1 day at least decent lookin 😢
Really glad you like it! Just give it a try. After leraning a few basiscs dioramas like this are all about trial and error and playing around with diffrent materials :)
What an amazing piece of art. The realism of the trees bushes and landscape, and the precise details in the painting of the miniatures is astounding. I wish I owned this!
Thank you so much! Really glad to hear that :)
Best of luck to those 2 guardsman, I don't expect them to have skin for much longer.
You might be right.
hi bene, found you through your question on reddit regarding a camera recommendation. amazing work! would you mind sharing what camera you ended up getting? thank you!
Hey, glad you like it! I decided to use the Sony ZV-E10. It´s pretty easy to handle and I´m quite happy with it :)
thank you so much!@@benecrafts
looks super cool! *.* Can you build something like this in 90x90 cm and with many levels / many tree houses and wooden houses? need some inspiration for my "the drowned earth" record :D
There are very few likes on such a masterpiece (((
At least you found it and I´m glad you like it :)
Thanks for the really great video. Amazing work!
Thank you. Glad to hear! :)
Did you use plaster to make what looks like the broken pavement you used on both sides? Amazing! Well done!
Exactly! ;)
I've started painting WH miniatures. My end goal is to have them in diorama's. I've no clue what stuff I have to buy though besides clay, glue, paint, cardboard, styrofoam, and gather some sticks and branches. How do you make that water? And 0:40 and 1:15 what's that stuff?
Really glad to hear that you started enjoying this great hobby :) The water is made using epoxy-resin, but there are also a bit more beginner friendly alternatives (at least for waterspots with less depth) like woodlandscenics "Realistic Water". The stuff at 0:40 is called "Sculptamold" and is basically plaster with papier-mâché - you can buy it premixed or do it yourselfs there are some tutorials on how to do it out there I guess. The Stuff at 1:15 is basically a mixture out of ovenheated soil from the garden and pva glue. I hope that helps!
Perfect for my Kroot :)
Nice ;)
Incredible work. What is the black plastic used on the sides to hold the resin epoxy and hide the foam sides? Also did you just use real chunks of wood with bark? I saw another comment about the roots, so I assume so! Thankfully I live in a forest.
Thank you so much! The platic is called polystrol and I bought it from an architecture shop. The Bark is actually bought kork-bark. While I really like using free materials from outside as much as I can. With bark I generally stick with treated Stuff from the craftstore. Hope that helps =)
@@benecrafts I’m going to copy some of your ideas and use it as inspiration for my chaos knight display board I’m working on! Did the plastic come colored black ? I’ve got some styrene plastic that is white colored. Thanks so much for the reply!
Amazing work brother, you really make it look easy :) Stumbled upon your post on the AoS Reddit looking for inspiration and out of 100+ posts this is the one!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your kind words :)
I LOVE this, nice work!
Thank you so much!
Holy shit, that's great!
I absolutely love it. Can I ask how you painted the bloat drone?
Thanks a lot! It´s basicallly just a single color basecoat for each area, then a normal green wash and after that a brownish oil wash followed by a clean up with mineral spirits on the prominent areas :)
Are all of the items you need expensive? Like the grass etc?
i envy a man with a desk this big
wow that is brilliant thank you for giving me ideas on how to do some really appriciate cheers pal ❤.
Thank you so much! Glad to help ;)
What's the green stuff?
A flock. You can make it at home just by putting a cleaning sponge in a blender then paint it green
Very cool! It has given me some ideas for the hag lair Iam designing.
Im so caught up in how good this diorama is, the mud, the dirt, the ruined buildings, the miniatures, the effects, its amazing- I could gush about that alone for several more paragraphs- but what also stands out is the cinematography and video skills used to communicate the process. There are a lot of really skilled people out there who deserve more recognition and aren't getting it because their presentation skills are not matched by their hobby skills, you however, you're on another level. Without bloating the video you're able to show, not tell, how you achieved every effects, while keeping the audience engaged. You show just enough to keep us informed but wanting more, and paired with the music we're at the end of our seats. This is more than a diorama video, its a love letter to your craft, and I support it wholeheartedly. 10/10 work, I cant wait to see what you do next <3
Wow, thank you so much for these kind and heartwarming words. I really appreciate it! <3
Finally ultramarines not written by Matt Ward.
Genius!!! nice man! deserved sub! how did you fix the pigments?
Thanks a lot! Actually I don´t fix them on diorama-pieces ^^ I just shake it a little bit upside down and whatever sticks to the piece stays :D
👌
what's the song?
Amazing work!
