Danayleys Restaurant needs renovation and the chart House on the Hill and the Harbor Homes are falling off the edges from storms trump could Help with that project
How about we just tear everything down and let it return to nature like it was before humans arrived? Your thoughts.
So who designed the round wooden railing that started cracking into huge, long lined cracks just weeks after being installed. Take away their paycheck, and revoke their designing privileges. Oh, and bye bye free parking.
Still gonna allow dogs to piss and crap on all the grass areas and the cement walkways EVERYWHERE, or...?
Coming to this conversation late. The first step in the project was to eliminate monthly parking passes in the marina parking lots which now sit mostly empty. The next step was to DRAMATICALLY increase the slip fees. This resulted in a lot of smaller boat owners to either move out or sell their boats. One of the great charms of this harbor has been the diversity of boats and owners. Small guys are being chased out. The spin being presented in this video is complete BS.
Word was already circulating a couple of years back that this was to "squeeze out the middle class".
Someone is going to make an awful lot of money with very little input from those of us who actually live here. I moved here for the small town feel. We've all see what has happened to Huntington Beach, cookie cutter.
I remember Dana Point before the harbor was built. It was a beautiful, natural gem. These high-priced amenities are being built primarily for the tourist trade and the wealthy OC residents. I seriously doubt many of us locals are cheering this project on.
A bunch of marketing b.s. and clip art generic photos. The harbor ruined one of California's best point breaks. Cut the crap about surfing history. Call it what it is: a money grab!
Good thing they are not in a rush. This interview was 5 years ago. If they want it to look better let's get the state to stop putting yearly property tax on boats, then it will bring back the boating industry and get rid of the old leaky boats. Look close at them, many are really really old. Worst state in our country to own a boat.
Along with the "Revitalization", there should have also been a stipulation that the "Partners" address water run-off and erosion around Doho and Capo.
Yes, it looks beautiful. But, what do the locals who have lived here for years get. Other than being oust? And what about those who have lost their business and livelihood to cater to everyone else. You are catering to everyone outside our little community.
This is an overbuilt commercial complex. Lots of concrete and commercialism and little of the seaside flavor that we enjoyed. I'm disappointed. I expected better.
You "expected better" from corporate land developers? Son... what?
What a curious marketing video. I had to watch it twice because it struck me that there wasn’t one person of color in the thing. I was wrong. There was a single flash of two people who might have been Mexican American…and they were cooking for white people. Is this the future of Orange County and Dana Point that they’re selling? Big yachts and white people only? Come on.
Cheap shipping container aesthetics; absolutely hideous. Looks like Lego Land.
Going to cost more to do anything and everything. This is a taxpayer owned harbor , which has now been given a lease agreement to an out of area business. There has been almost zero input accepted from the residents of orange county. This is going to be a very expensive place to visit soon . All of the leases for dining, shopping , and parking will be going up in price . Sad to see some of it . There will be some improvements, but at what cost ?
Dana Point is so parametric view with its boats, seaside arroma-in Coppi v. Dana Point we think it was changed for political & tourist reasons in : coppi vs. Dana Point it was distinguish that a person needed a wheelchair Background: Patron, who required use of wheelchair for mobility, brought action against county and city, alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California Disabled Persons Act (CDPA) in lack of access to the beaches. However, there was behind the scenes that Dana Point wanted to be hush hush about, but we got the full scope.
Let's face it, Its all about Money, The residents of Dana Point and surrounding areas have been fighting against this since the Eightys, because we know this is going to destroy the Area around it. The locals are not going to be able to enjoy any of this, It is going to be a Total Traffic Nightmare Year round. The County of Orange and the Board of Supervisors has full control of this. Remember this at election time. Our little piece of Paradise is going to be Destroyed, They know it and We all Know it
Very Sad. Couldn't you just leave it alone and let us enjoy our harbor with it's charm. You're going to bring in expensive restaurants and it's not going to welcome everyone.
Your voiceover guy sounds very high.
Turning our pristine harbor into an over crowded inland style eyesore.
This is a joke, they've been saying they're going to do this since 1990.
Ah well I remember as a kid seeing the harbor being built (goodbye killer Dana) Dana Point has never seemed to get anything right including which way to drive. Lol. The charm left when the Villa burned down and Hobie moved across the street. The town feels cursed. But I love it here I've lived in Capo Beach for over 30 years (before DP "Acquired it") and progress in the name of money is all that matters. Did the local residents get to vote on this? How about those absurd warehouse retail buildings still not completed on pch? At least we still have donut world and Lucy's.... oh nvm.🤔
This makes me so sad, one of the last “local” places being sold to tourists. Dana point already has enough money from the Ritz Carleton and the Waldorf Historia, they don’t need any more money. Dana Point should be ashamed.
It looks like LA/ Long Beach.
Not sure what coastal part of LA you’re referring to, but I can assure you there is nothing even remotely close to this development in LA.
Looks like sh+$. New isn't always better. Shame. Outlets of SC. They pushed that on everyone. The place is still ghost town. They talk about history as they completely destroy it. Hippocrates. The New layout in turning DP into Long Beach. Awesome.
Welcome to Irvine, Pacific edition.
After 50 years in Irvine and seeing a project (Great Park) done with no design parameters and no operational design criteria and no analysis of the operational demand factors, my wife and I sold our home of 33 years and moved to Laguna Niguel to be by our children and grandchildren and the Dana Point Harbor was a plus. I spent 35 years of my career (mostly with Disney-Disneyland capital projects, Tokyo Disneyland, EuroDisney, Tokyo DisneySeas? WED/Walt Disney Imagineering), I see another Great Park operational fiasco on the Dana Point Harbor Project ... it is disappointing because we moved here to get away from a baseless project and it now seems like we are getting into the same problematic situation ... so sad government can't employ a core group with project competencies to pre a erve the Dana Point Harbor instead of allowing business to develop financial opportunities at the expense of the residents if the area ... their life experience will not be benefitted long term by this mega developmental project. Wish with myv30 years of project development experience I could see the benefits that are being touted.
@@johnmccoy6228 It's guna be sad to see. I love out of state currently and plan on going back to San Clemente soon and will have to see what they've done so far. I'm not from Dana point but being from San Clemente it's right there. There's plenty of great food ect. Now I'm afraid it's all guna be chains and garbage lining the harbor.
I think this renovation looks amazing. I do feel though that it should still be made convenient for all DP residents, especially since we will have to live through all the noise etc during this renovation. If parking is going to end up now "paid parking"..all DP residents should receive a "sticker" that allows us to park at the marina for FREE. We are what makes up the DP community and just like Laguna Beach gives their residents a sticker so they don't have to pay for parking in their community-they get enough revenue from the tourists..Dana Point should extend that same hospitality to its residents.
Not going to happen. Prepare your quarters and credit card to pay for the parking so that these ugly creatures from the video can reap the benefits.
Excuse me but did you use the world "FREE" in the State of Califwrongya?
Lots of great restaurants being lost including Harbor Grill, Harpoon Henrys and Wind & Sea. Very sad. It will probably be beautiful but wont have the charm that is their now.
This is about money son, "Charm" has nothing to do with it, you want charm buy a cereal box with a Leprechaun on the front of it.
"Dana Point has officially jumped the shark." - Arthur Fonzarelli, May 2022
Worst thing I have ever seen in my life. Thanks for completely destroying our sleepy beach town
Capo Beach is neglected. That really needs renovation.
I don’t know any locals that want a parking structure
I don't think the Indians who accepted those trinkets wanted to see skyscrapers in Manhattan either... At least I don't think so.
Deliberate “phasing” (of small local business owners).
We all knew this day would come, but that doesn't make it any easier.
Sad to see it 😭😭
Problem is, that day eventually comes no matter where you go on Earth these days.
Money talks… Way to ruin a town…
Sorry but it will lose the Dana Point feel that we love so much. I don't care for it at all. The architecture is very unappealing, yuk! Cold and industrial looking, not beachy.
Ever notice when corporate people get into something it ain't never better off than before? Your lovely "Dana Point" is soon to have a "Made In China" sticker on the back of it.
are you still doing this?
They’ve been saying they are doing this for years and years. They are all talk no action because residents and boat owners do not want this bullshit. This is not Santa Monica, nor Huntington, Newport, or even Laguna Beach. The way I see it is no, there is boat owners and residents boycotting and protesting about this, along with more. Secondly, in recent years, they’ve redone the roofs on the buildings and did small renovation and maintenance here and there, and most recently last year they repainted all of the buildings, as well as added new signage. Now why would they spend the time and money to do all of this supposedly if they are going to tear the buildings down? The logic makes no sense. Only thing that has been remotely done period is two streets were widened about 5 years ago and they added in traffic lights at the intersections, and most recently around late last year cut down a lot of the trees which looks like shit. Other then that stuff, nothing major has happened and hopefully will not happen. But residents and boat owners are putting their foots down about this disasterous plan that will probably not happen at all. They’ve been saying construction will start at this time and this year, but nothing happens every time they say that. Just leave the harbor and buildings alone how it is. This is not a tourist attraction for god sake, this is a small boat harbor with a few shops and restaurants.
I used to think Dave Chappelle was funny, but this skit is hilarious! No one I know believes this will benefit any boater here in the area. It's going to be a traffic and logistical nightmare that most will avoid, from start to finish. Hasn't physically started yet, so I call you out as frauds, as there is no way this will finish like was told to boaters. 2026 complete!?! Lmfao, because you have not even started. No soil turned over as far as I can see, and youre presentation looking like universal city walk, (or any new retail/lifestyle/resort). Fake from people that aren't from here, and no one likes a con artist. I am wrapping it up in this harbor really soon. You wont need my money with those bottom scraping super cruisers in the harbor.
Build a wave machine
fuck you
Great interview job Lisa. I think a 18 year old kid could have given better answers to your questions. A lot of awe, awe awe. All I heard was a recap of the what currently exist but spending a lot more money in hopes to attract more tourist at the cost of the locals love for this town which has already been ruined with what they had done on PCH. These are business people gouging for another dollar. There are a lot of other cities making good money without a 330 billion revamp. Look 10 miles north or 40 min south. Born and raised in DP I would never move back now.
Cool video, keep it up! This deserves way more views, I’d recommend using SMZeus . c o m to help rank your videos.
Any new developments ?
"The City of Dana Point is the most beautiful, desirable and safest coastal community in which to live, work, visit, play or conduct business." -- it won't be after the renovations designed to attract numbers far beyond Dana Point's capacity. It's obvious there was no effort to retain Dana Point's original charm.
It’s a real life episode of parks and rec
Thanks to the VFW post and all of those who contributed today. God Bless you all. - the stoddards
The music is detracting from the message.
A safe walkway from Capo side homes would be nice. This side is blocked off.
The fuck is this shit?! Leave the damn harbor alone!!! People LOVE it the way it is!!! They like it because it's cute and small, and that's the way it should be!!! Dana point is a SMALL town, thus we need a SMALL harbor. Haven't we wrecked our land enough around here? Now we have to move to the oceans?! Think of all the damage this will do to our ocean's ecosystem!!! Dana Point is a major spot for migrating whales. What happens to the whales when we do this and pollute our waters?! Do ya really want to ruin all that we have?! Whatever happened to morals and values? It seems like money and greed has taken over... Disgusting.
What happens to the whales? Well they ain't getting free parking bro, not around here they ain't.
That’s horrible just leave it alone we don’t need more people moving here or any more tourist
so you already live there, and no one else should be allowed?
Ok then your smart lets let the local business die
@@sk8_surf697 yes, the local businesses will die when the harbor is completely renovated to cater to your favorite big-name brand.
@@andrewenglishsc I was referring to we do not need anymore pepole to move hear I do not agree with the changes I just am saing the more pepole the more business for small shops
