Ramblings of the Mind - for Orchestra
I've been wanting to upload this one for a while now!
Ramblings is orchestral work I submitted at the end of October 2024 that, as of today, has been selected as one of five pieces in the final round of this year's South African Composers' Competition (2024-2025). This will be my third time as a finalist in this competition of which I placed 2nd in both the ones prior.
The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the work on the 15th of March at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Cape Town.
I will post a link to the concert livestream as soon as I get access to it. I will also upload the recordings once they are given to me too, so do look out for that later in March.
I am ever gratefu...

Tuba Concerto - Movement Two | Solo Part
Просмотров 9328 дней назад
A piece I started over a year ago at this point. Currently only movements 1 & 2 exist, with 3 still in progress. Movement 1 was uploaded shortly before this one. I will likely revise the work once its completed, but I consider this movement to be a finished product (mostly). Written and dedicated to my good friend and wonderful tubist: Likhona Tokota Instrumentation Flute 1-2 (2 double Alto Flu...

Electric Counterpoint - Reich | Arranged for Double Reeds
Просмотров 508Месяц назад
Had to transpose the 1st movement up for the sake of range & divide some of the chords in the 3rd movement of the [live] part for obvious reasons. I find that the timbre of the English horn actually matches the original guitar version quite well. Bassoons (although extremely high) were also used for the chordal guitar parts to simulate the timbre change between single-note guitar playing & stru...
Oboe Sonata - Poulenc | Orchestrated

I have loved this piece for a very long time, and now I have the orchestrated piano part for a small chamber orchestra.
Cantankerous Spirit
Просмотров 93Месяц назад
Cantankerous Spirit is a work I started a long time ago (c.2016) and I have since lost the original file. However, one of the drafts survived in the form of a score video here on my channel (uploaded in 2017). So, I decided, over these last 3 days, to transcribe the work into Sibelius and revise what I had access to. If I remember correctly, I had written a lot more but never uploaded it so thi...
Congratulations Owen!!! Surely you win this time?🤞🤞🤞
this is great Owen!
This is great! I’ve thought about how this would sound on strings but winds work wonderful as well, awesome work!
Don’t stop making these! Years from now you’ll be so glad you did. Being able to continuously improvise for 30+ minutes is impressive as is!
@@TheAnglaland thank you so much :) I will definitely keep going for as long as I can
phenomenal arrangement, would love to hear this live someday! keep it up!
Dude this is awesome! When the bassoons come in at 33 it's just crazy.
Thank you! That is such a magical moment, I love it
Omg🥹
Hell yeah! Amazing work 🎉
es hermoso,
@@japgart4874 Gracias :)
Very interesting. You have so much freedom while playing.
That's partly why I love doing these improvs. There's nothing to prove. I can just play completely freely and organically
This is great! Keep working hard🎉!
@gerardlee7b724 thank you, I will :)
Ateeeee
Hi do you have the finale, mscz, XML file for this? Tysm
Hi, I have sib & xml versions. Send me an email: owendalton@hotmail.com
Tysm @@o.dalton194
@@o.dalton194 thank you! Email has been sent :))
It would be great if someone did an animation to go with this, with Bill Gates on the saxophone, Satya Nadella on piano, and Steve Ballmer on drums. I'll pay to see Bill Gates play the saxophone!
Love this! Some how my PC game still works on Windows 10! Thanks for this! Now I can listen at work
Great video
This is awesome!
BitOBoss is such 90s goodness

if the little robot guy gets his own movie this needs to be in it
🤩🤩🤩
April fools!
Such a beautiful and nostalgic piece. This does remind me of going to the beach, how the waves are calm, the sand is toasty on my feet, and the wind blowing calmly on my face. Just beautiful, even if I don’t understand how to read notes or play an instrument.(yet)
Takes me back to being a kid again and playing this on my grandparents' computer when I thought they were asleep. Thank you so so sooo much for reawakening so many wonderful memories 💚
I know all these tracks by heart lol. Somewhere in my brain 🧠
That’s what I’m saying dude! Played this on my grandparents computer… the nostalgia
This looks super hard but it has such a unique and cool sound. I love it
Hey brother, I sent over an email. I’d love to have the arrangement!
Sounding great, Owen! I'm looking forwarding to tuning in to hear the live rendition.
This is going to sound so cool live
YES!!
It sounds like a beginning town theme for Dragon Quest
Very cool. I enjoy it a lot.
Storm Peaks is a very underrated zone in my opinion
Ive been looking for this for YEARS. Thank you!
No offense but Mackey fully exploits the sounds a wind band can produce, and it can be difficult or nearly imposible to mimic it in any other way. That's what I love about Mackey.
Sound very good ! Look like very fun fun to play
The storm peaks, taunka and iron dwarf music from wrath are some of my favorite pieces of orchestral music, great job with this!
Hello Mr grasshopper 🤩
algorithm is feeling quirky today i see
Dunno why this showed up in my recommendations, but keep up the good work.
I appreciate the comment :)
that sounds epic
Rarely performed, this work is an astonishing achievement from the pen of an 18 year old studying at the RCM. There is so much to enjoy and to reflect on what was to be written in future years.
That was my intro to Jazz when I just learned computers in 2004 ❤
You damn bloody mad genius, you actually did it… I hope you know you’ve done God’s work here…
Full of interesting ideas and colour. Did you leave it at ten or were there more?
Thanks! I think I might have continued a bit but likely no full movements. Maybe I'll revisit it in the future
I was unable to find any hard information on the composer of these Jazz tunes, but my guess would be Ed Bogas.
sounds really nice
Is there a perusal score of this piece?
Not currently, but I can make one and send it your way when I get the chance?
@@o.dalton194 That would be great! Thank you!
All of your improvs are totally underrated. Great work dude!
I'm trying to find a sax part, please. Really good thoooooooo-
