You may wonder, but Catweazel is very much known and beloved in Germany. Even my father knew him and sometimes cited scenes. I particulary like it, because there is a certain secret about it. And people are shown in a very natural and naive way with all of their imperfections, but in a very amiable way. This is very ununsual for film or television. The later version, without Carrot, has not so much this human touch. In the last years there was even a cinema-film with the famous comedian "Otto", who played the magican "Catweazel" from the 11.th. century on german soil...

The music and soundtrack for the series was great.

Great memories. Thank you for making these then and now videos. I didn't live in Tunbridge Wells but i do remember myself, my mum and dad going there in the 80's, we lived in Crowborough. Every couple of weeks we would go and park in that car park, walk through to Calverley road when it was still a road with cars going along it. Towards the end of the 80's we stopped going there, I didn't know why at the time but a few years later came back and the shopping centre was there. I remember my dad hating the shopping centre car park as it was too tight to get his big car round the sharp ramps to go up a level. He would always park in Crescent road car park after that. Will you be making any more of these videos ? It would be so great for a catch-up with all the people replying to their memories.

Catweazel was the business. Back in the day when they wrote children's programs with respect for the audience and adults even enjoyed watching with their children. Now even most adult shows are childish drivel.

I was 5 years old in 1970 and I thought Catweazle was a truly wonderful programme. I am 57 now and a few years ago I bought the box set of Catweazle and enjoyed it just as much as I did all those years ago. It was one of those programmes that made you feel safe as a young child. Always shown on a Sunday afternoon when life simple and I had no worries

Sorry, I dont think it's the one. The tree in the video was quite a substantial size, and the tree stump in your video looks small by comparison. I also read that a groundsman who was there at the time said the original tree, which was already dead when the Beatles filmed the video, was cut down and the stump removed. I'm a Beatles fan, and I've been to Knole Park, and much as I'd like the stump to be the one, I'm just not convinced it's anything to do with the video.

He was a lovely old man. No one else could have played Catweazel so well. I loved the series and him.

So glad you found this song. I used to know the composer Geoff Taylor, we attended the same church in the UK, back when this song won the Sing Good News Competition in 1982
