1968 Southern 500 - Jim Hurtubise Rides the Wall
He’s car seemed way loose ??
Jesus these are some brutal wrecks
Please stop calling everything the 'big one'. The phrase has lost all meaning. Most of the time its just a crash.
Why did they put him in an ambulance? The driver side wasn’t impacted.
When stock cars were actually stock.
When "winning on Sunday, translated into sales on Monday." Of the actual basic Make and model a vehicle. I gotta get busy on that time machine in my basement 😅!
I'VE BEEN A NASCAR FAN SINCE 1976❤❤❤
The time they raced in short sleeves and dress slacks. They where real men
Absolutely amazing this wasn’t a fireball!
Because I don't know... what type, if any, seat belts did they have then?
Probably just a lap belt.... Richard gets thrown all around the inside of his car 😳
Just a couple of good ol boys 😊
“Mechanics talking to him”. I guess back in those days, mechanics came fully armed with cameras! Lol
That was some awesome racing back then. These days it's total garbage.
Jimmy Perdue had a tire failure during A Goodyear tire test a few weeks earlier and went through the guardrail at the same place. Richard hit where the new guardrails and supports were set after Jimmys’ fatal crash
did they have a caution flag back in your day grampa?
JJ taking a long drag off of a smoke while in the pits getting gas....absolute classic.
Keep up the good work! I love watching your NASCAR videos!
Thank god that outside wall wasn’t Concrete Or else this coulda looked a lot worse like Darlington 1970
Reds Kagle lost a leg in that guardrail three years earlier
Back in the day when racing was real 😊
Oh? Compared to what? The 60 lead changes we see in a lot of races now, that’s light years better
Oh because of multiple fatalities in a year? Is that when it was real? Is that WHY?
No window nets . . .🏁
Very few rules made it more fun and enjoyable. Now we have penalties to deal with. Back in the earlier days, that was flat out racing 🎉.
1:06 so lemme understand, 2 pit crew members got there before the rescue personal? Holy sh*t.
No, they were photographers.
@@Slithey74331:07" mechanics talking to him". Uh no Jim Mechanics don't have cameras around their necks. That's what I get for listening to Mr. agony of defeat.
Back when car's were stock car's.
And when Glenn Roberts and I think five other drivers died in crashes.
Happy to see this channel back
He hit the ghostbusters car
I'm his niece, the guard rail was damaged the day before and wasn't properly fixed. 5k was all Nascar gave him plus banned him from racing for a period. He came back even stronger.
And how long before they finally put up an infield wall?
Who watches NASCAR anymore…..all the cars look the same…..all the races are boring….its not the same😞🇺🇸
The speedway was only 22 years old in 81.
The good old days racing sucks now
Arrington had to get going....every dollar mattered to hus shoestring operation. I recall rumors that he was the designated spin car for the Petty operation....he would cause a late yellow if Richard needed one and be rewarded on Monday with parts, which kept him going. No idea if this was true...
I like how the guys got out of their cars while the race was still going on.
Back before liberals ruined NASCAR 😂
Have to wonder if Arrington scrambled his marbles in the first hit because he was totally careless when returning to the track.
The old tracks were way better
Thanks for this classic NASCAR video!
WOULD MUCH RATHER WACTH THE OLDER CARS OF THE PAST MORE EXCIMENT AND THERE NOT ALL THE SAME TODAYS CARS RJUST COOKIE CUTTERS BORING AS HELL
I always pulled for Buddy to have a good finish. One of a handful of independents still driving at that time. He didn't exercise good judgment in this case. But that was back when everybody raced back to the start/ finish line during a caution. Close to the end of the race, all concerned were racing for a good finishing position.
I feel sorry for Harry Gant and Morgan Shepard. Talk about getting caught up in somebody else's stupidty. "Get's up on the race track" and stops. Like pulling out in front of someone and then changing your mind.
He wrecked Jamie there
“Let’s talk about them sponsors behind us!!!” 😂😂😂😂😂
Wonder who won the cliff diving championship?
Here for Brad Teague!~
Come on man! Time to get outta the past

Great wrecks, terrible video quality.
because it was 1995
yeah this one hurt a little
Delana Harvick.
Back where they actually raced. These days it's a drama clown show.
Calm down ya old fart
