I always felt the more effective aspect of this scene is not the "haha they'll do anything for money" but the simple insistence on the fact you don't feel it when others suffer. You really don't. And that's exactly why hierarchy can form to begin with. It's one of the fundamental pillars of hell that must be confronted. Across the manga, kaiji is perpetually trying to find the something that binds people together, the weight of that dream can only be understood after having met these pillars one by one.

Rewatching this stuff makes me really wish Fukumoto had kept Saraha alive for the rest of the series. He would fit perfectly as one of Kaiji's allies in the current part of the manga.

@@sunny.litty353 Quite a stretch. I prefer many dubbed anime like Pokemon, One Piece, DBZ, HXH, Yu Yu Hakusho, FMA, and more. Kaiji's dub is objectively horrendous and the sub carries more emotion. Good job looking like a whiny idiot who's angry at a stranger's opinion though. Petulant fool.

And all the corrupt governments all over anime explain socialism/communism as well. This is only one side of capitalism though. Is also the motivating factor to create incentives for innovation. Innovations like this technology you used to post and I used to comment. Or the innovations that save a crazy amount of lives or raise standard of living.
I'm disagree about the whole innovation thing. Capitalism doesn't fuel innovation, but rather only fuels the production of things that are the most profitable, but not necessarily the most innovative. For example, Oil Companies that have developed and done tons of research to develop certain technologies regarding renewable energy, but then will patent them, to protect their oil profits, and prevent others from using it, at the cost of the environment and of convenience for the average person. Another example, is planned obsolescence with electronics, and anti-repair measures, like seen with companies like Apple. Making people have to replace their devices more often than they have to, can create more E-waste, and is harmful to the environment. And another more recent example, is Tesla, and how many other companies shorted the tesla stock to prevent the company from rising up, since they wouldn't want to have to face Tesla as a competitor.
