0:30 Good collection of photographs. Some are not quite as old of photographs as they appear. The G.T. Body Shop, show one of my families vehicle while I was growing up. That’s literally the exact vehicle, believe it was a Chevrolet Chevette, possibly an 81

Thank you, Tory, for this wonderful video!!!! I lived in Garden City (Heartwood Drive) from 1959-1971. I would give anything to go back there for one day. It has changed so much since I left. I got lost the last time I was there, but the memories I have from those days still warms my heart!

I used to Ice skate at the monroeville mall ice rink on the weekends with Ken Levy and Simon Chough. Really great times. I still remember eating the hot soft pretzel with mustard after skating. it was a great ice rink. I also remember when Wendys opened in 1969 or 70 on route 22. Such a big deal. laughable now.

I remember Monroeville from the late 1960's, the 1970's, 80's and 90's and moved away before 2000. I just returned to see the Monroeville Mall again after over 20 years. The area surrounding the mall is so very different now. There are a few things that are still there, but I didn't recognize much as of 2023. It is now so over built and congested from what I remember. I really have no interest in going back there now. I guess it's all about what you knew when you were growing up, then years later almost nothing is the same.

I went to Pitcairn 3 elementary as a Monroeville resident in the early 60s. My teachers were: Mrs Walthour, Mr Baldis and Miss Mishurda. Oh and mrs wonders. Anyone else who remembers these times? Please post if you do.

Oh wow at 8:42, shooting of film scenes of 'Dawn of the Dead' at Monroeville Mall. A couple of my Pitt frat brothers were zombies in this George Romero classic. I should have went to the casting call with them :(

I hear the Racquet Club is closed, as i used to live at their apts in the early '90's. And my burgh friends tell me Monroeville Mall and the rest of Monroeville will go the way of East Liberty, Wilkinsburg, Homewood, East Hills, Churchill & Penn Hills as the black plague pushes further East.

I can't place where Holiday House would have been. Also, when I started going to this area in the late 70s and early 80s, I remember there was Charlie's Last Chance Saloon and then next door, Sorry Charlie. Where exactly were they located and what happened to them? Was there a real rivalry between Charlie's and Sorry Charlie's?

I had relatives in Monroeville, and got to visit the "Miracle Mile" more than once. Mom's (and my wife's) relations owned the Monroeville Mall, too, although I was never there. Drove by a few times.... No sign of my car in any of those pics, though [grin]. I used to "gopher" to PIT occasionally, and I'd stop at the home of a couple great aunts. One of whom was blind. Kind of odd watching her cook something for me on a gas stove, but she didn't find it unusual.

Oh the memories! By any chance do you remember the auto junkyard that used to take up the corner up onto the hill at Route 48 - the hollow -and Pitcairn Trafford Road. Used to go there with my Dad when he needed a car part and we wandered among the wrecks.

This brought back so many wonderful memories. My 2 youngest sons were born in Pittsburgh and I am a big Steeler Fan. We lived in Monroeville on Snowball Rd. and my husband worked in Pittsburgh. We lived there when the Pirates won the world series. We had a lot of fun in the snow. Sometimes I miss the snow. Went to the Miracle Mile many snowy days just to get out of the house.
