Swapping a third-generation Eco diesel engine into a 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.11 месяцев назад
this video is an assembly of clips that I took while swapping a 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel EcoDiesel engine into my 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel truck everything went well and the engine ran pretty good after I got some of the sensor issues figured out and tuning from Mr tuning updated to handle some stuff however LKQ online who I purchased the engine from happen to ship the engine to me uncovered with all...

Fixing or straightening a bent valve in an engine
Просмотров 18 тыс.2 года назад
here I go through the process of repairing a badly bent valve in a Ford 2.3 liter engine sorry about the glitchy section I was only using my phone and it recorded too high of definition for the app I used for editing it I lowered the resolution in the last few clips and that fixed it so will do that as well for the next video. let me know what you think and of there was something I could have d...
Does tire pressure change when you put a load on????

So I was curious if tire pressure changed when you added a load to the vehicle so I came up with a way that I think works to test it if you think otherwise let me know in the comments below.

Awesome
For some reason i can’t stop watching the videos you have up on this channel
Thanks I should probably try to put more on I do a lot of cool projects
Great fix! Why not weld the hole in the washer, if you are going to reuse it?
Totally could I just plumb didn't think of that I'll do that on my other lbz
I have an LML you can do it on…😂
@@jimwhalen6769 sure
Nice fix without crazy machining or disassembly! Can't beat the price either. You could probably step up the outer diameter part into like a head too by drilling slightly larger hole after removing the washer, but i believe yours should work just fine. 100% better than it came from factory!👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔩🔧
Thanks.... yep that could totally be done i actually didn't expect it to work that well so the great result and no broken bits kinda took me by surprise
Looks good! Run it!
Yep gonna do the same exact thing to my other lbz once this one is on the road
Feeds and speeds were not referenced.
Lol
Vertical filming got me again. Sorry
I see you had some issues with the new 3.0. Did you ever get another one? Is so, how's it doing now?
It's doing great about 30k miles on the swap without a single check engine light and I routinely tow 7 to 12 k pounds
Thanks man, i thought my valves were gone but not after this haha saving 150 bucks and a 2 week down time!
is this the same for a 2016 mazda? I have pretty much the same behaviours but the vacuum in the hose feels weak, it doesnt do that whistle when removing the finger
Dont want to scar up the shaft but hammers on it lol
Works in a pinch I'm sure though
Are you shitn me buy a new valve for christ sake
Awesome video and info - something hard to filter thru and find on the internet these days... Thank you!!
That's an excellent video! And I'll keep that knowledge in the vault! Thank you!😊😊
I like problem solving
My valve is like half mil open on intake Im going to try knockin it in its place straight
Nice to see some info on this. My 2018 ecodiesel took a crap. 85,000 sucks, just bought truck 3 months ago. Was curious if you ever had gotten new motor in truck and also if transmission was a direct plug and play. Thanks for your time.
Yes I did and it's working great I ended up getting a good 3rd gen engine that had a turbo on it the main thing different is the oil cooler old one has 2 sensors and new has 1 so just put a new 2016 oil cooler on mine so it had the both sensor holes
No change need for the transmission
I love these shitboxes so much
I just finished this swap, im having issues that the truck starts for a moment and shuts down right away. When i disconnect the harness that goes to the intake manifold the truck runs fine. did you experience this?
No I did not it sounds like a sensor issue I would say get in touch with mrtuning
How much did this cost
no one can claim budget build after this
Lol
Well done! Were you able to work out the service electronic throttle and few other codes? Keep thinking about getting a 3rd gen engine incase my 2017 suffers the same fate. Hoist just needs anchored to the floor.
Yes he sent a new tune
Love that you made a video of this. Were there any changes to the Ecu tuning specific to make the 3Gen engine work? Or is it on the same MR delete tune you were running before the swap?
Same tune but it did throw a code that he sent me a new tune to fix
Do you think the original turbo from the new motor would work?
It did for me
How's it been running for you? Any suggestions on this swap? I'm thinking of doing the same thing
It ran really great for me I had to get Mr tuning to update the tune to cure a service electronic throttle control code but other than that it worked well if you watch my video carefully I explained the hoses and pipes I had to weld and fabricate to make the second gen turbo fit the third gen engine has a couple of the coolant systems are different however the engine did lock up approximately 1500 Mi later due to contamination inside of it from the scrap yard they shipped it completely uncovered and open to the elements
Sorry disregard my last comment I misread your question yes the original Turbo from the new engine would be the best choice by far my engine did not come with it so I had to use my second gen turbo I believe the third gen turbo would still plug in just as well and it is actually a little bigger and more efficient
Thanks man for replying and for the help!
Not sure why it's rotated the way it is
Did you finish the install?
@adyg3162 yes but the engine was contaminated from the scrap yard and locked up about 1500 miles later may do a cummins swap next I'm kinda over the ecodiesel for a bit
Did you tune your truck ECU or you got a new ECU for the gen3?And who tuned it?Im doing the swap now and don’t know how to tune it. Thanks!
@adyg3162 all original ecu and wiring had a mrtuning stage 3 tune on it
Y didnt you replace it. One valve is not that costlt...
God it's fucked chuck it out and replace it
Wow bro keeping up wow good job
My 03 trailblazer had a bent vavle but after around 120 miles no more misfire or rough idle . Fixed itself lol.
Heats up then sticks
Is this a joke
Hopefully
Nope just an interesting way to get a junk engine to run
Nobody with any logical sense would try to straighten a bent valve and put it back into the engine. it is senseless. That is why mechanics are mechanics and master technicians are master technicians. You would never see a dealership hire a mechanic for nothjing other than to change oil , rotate tires, replace wipers and bulbs. Master technicians are the only ones allowed and qualified to work on the rest of the car. Another reason why dealerships sends their used car trade-ins to the auctions is because mechanics worked on them and would be possibly be categorized as lemons.
Very stupid its compromised AF they're 7$ each i don't get it either
I am a mechanic and own my own business as well I just enjoy goofing of at home and seeing what works it was a throwaway engine off a junk boat
🙈 "Promosm"
Lmao
Thanks, I am looking at there egt gauge. Thanks for keeping me from making this mistake
Welded drill bit to valve…they cost $15 new😂
Lol not when you've got harbor freight history
GOTTA LOVE A GOOD OL DIY-ER! LOL
😊yup definitely like ya style lol ... how ya turn yours over before the "big test"? Just by hand? Great video and info...thanks for sharing
Yep just by hand it was more of an experiment than a great fix
I like your style, brother.
Was about to order a whole valve set and wait weeks for it to arrive. Not anymore! Thank you!!!
Howd u get it to smoke so much
It just always did that but there is things you can do to turn up the diesel flow in the pump
Did you drive the vehicle with the water? I’m wondering if the wheels must roll in order for the pressure signal to reset
Yes I did and no change
More videos plz
Reminds me of my time living in Maine trying to get my plow truck started..those straight pipes though..😉🤣
Wouldn’t it be better to pump it?
It does start quicker but I didn't have any choke lever connected so I had to set it manually that if I hit touch the gas that it would release the choke
Mind doing a revving video buddy? Sounds great.
Yes I'll do that when I get the new injectors in probably about a week or two
