how did you use emacs with hm on nixos? flake? how? can you make video?
Wow what a coincidence. I've been practicing a lot of Sound of Perseverance stuff lately too. Haskell metallers truly do think alike :D
wow amazing, and thanks for your comment! love how actually sometimes we think we are a bit niche, but so many people share the vision! love from NL keep rockin
I found it interesting. I use similar setup with lsp-mode but for long time wanna to try eglot with tree-sitter, seems at least now I know that it will work well. Also, some time ago I switched back from nix style emacs config to putting it to the home dir because I got some unresolved issues with nix-doom-emacs related to nix-straight.el, and that actually made configuration much simpler and quicker.
Thank you !
Sorry for this question, I'm a relative newbie in all of that. Why in the min 6:21 you put in the second line: Copyright (C) 2023 Josep .... and in the 4th line put: This program is free software...? What does this Copyright mean? I usually see that and it confuses me. And what package do you use to make "find-file" show that way? Thanks
No need to be sorry @richardfrangie3518 for asking questions 😊 i use Vertico + Consult + Orderless for all my minibuffer needs, like find-file, M-x and others. As for the licensing I like to make it explicit in every file that the project ( my dotfiles) is under the GNU GPL v3 or later. This is a copyright (copyleft actually) banner, intended to protect the users freedom, and mine.
Thanks for this! emacs on NixOS is my daily driver, too. I have to dig more into eglot though, as I'm still using (and struggling in) lsp-mode. I look forward to any more explorations you share here.
I can only vouch for eglot's performance and reliability to be honest. Most glitches you may find are actually on the language server end. It also feels to me like really hassle free, low config and good out of the box experience, with as many features as you want to enable, but minimalistic in nature.
thanks for the video! looking forward to seeing more videos about scala and emacs. I’m also interested in moving to eglot, it works faster but I had some issues with metals installation
I would highly recommend using Nix for it, or alternatively Coursier can help out too
Awesome setup bro
I really like nixos, but i cant really get my head around using npm packages in nixos, i use it a lot in work and i lost more time trying than actually doing something, same with adding my own c library to a develop enviorment with flakes (both have flake.nix) still, with npm it does install packages locally but it cant use it, at least the binaries nor require, if you know how to make this work it will be nice to make a video about it!
Hey thanks for watching and commenting! I will make a video about it for sure, I have a small Svelte project that I could showcase, it really makes life easier once you have passed the initial high learning curve.
@averageflow23 that would be awesome!!
LEGENDARY 🤘🏼
