One of my favorite actors, Tyrone Power, in this heartwarming comedy did another fine piece of work in this on again, off again romantic comedy. It was a most interesting match between an heiress of a fortune and a newspaper reporter. Really great stuff! ❤

Great movie, thanks for the upload.

This fine film was made 11 years before I was born. My grandparents (on my father's side) & my parents may well have watched as 15 year olds (married at that age) this movie. I'm just now watching this for the first time (@ 69 yrs) & I have to say it was quite a suspenseful thriller that I guaranteed... I'll watch again. Lol! I fell in Luv w/the main actor & a few of the others. Blush, blush ;-o)) ThnX for this Gr8t upld + the Eng Language Subs.

I have always liked Whit Bissell- he's been in so many movies & TV shows and few know who he is.

Not sure if anybody knows this or not but Herbert Marshall lost his leg in the war and Hollywood kept him on! They were very careful to shoot upper shots of his body. My late husband told me this years ago. He was born in 1923 and followed his career. God Bless him and those who supported him. ❤️

Too many ads

Being a true story made this an exceptional picture; especially since the accused was given 99 years instead of the death penalty. If this had happened during the last decade, he might’ve already been put to death, especially if it had been in a so-called ‘red’ state. (.. an appropriate color for a bloody people, although blue isn’t much better.) A great performance by Jimmy Stewart and in a supporting role by Lee J Cobb. ❤

What an unlikely and forced premise. Stanwyck's fiancé dies in an accident virtually right in front of her, she goes to the hospital and then.....nothing. Doesn't try to see her, or the dead man's family, doesn't interact with anyone, and lets a generic question like, "Are you a family member?" keep her from staying any longer in the hospital. Of course, if you're in grief then you must want to commit suicide, and if you must commit suicide then you must do it in front of some whimsical, useful idiot casually sitting on a river embankment right next to you. Of course, it then stands to reason that this useful idiot will talk you out of committing suicide and soon introduce you to a potential employer in a demanding line of work at which you have absolutely no experience but at which you happen to be great. From then on, it's riches with a little self-inflicted heartache, but mostly a contented life. Happens everyday!

A delightful movie. Barbara Stanwyck was as good as ever. A cute little boy and a story of a mother's love set in the upper classes.

I read " Little Black Sambo" to my 3 girls & my Mom read those books to us. By the time our 4th child came along,the book had been taken out of Public Libraries in the stupid belief that it wasa book that was Very Very disparaging to American Negro's. That Was Very Untrue. The cute little book took place in India. We don't have Wild Tiger's in America. So none to run around a tree and turn into butter. 😢😮 The Stupidity of the American Public Libraries. And Now - 40 years later The same places want ugly men dressed like uglier women, tell stories to small Children.!😢😮👿
