@@TransitFootage your welcome
I saw 2 on the 411 so
Still can't believe it has been an official year since the 01200s have retired, I guess it's now 50 Cars Left on Property
this is at arlington heights right
Yes, it was.
CRRC 1458/1459 has recently came out of shops
D40LF 0667 is Scrapped also only 29 remain in service

Junkcelsiors
I don't feel that they're junk. To each their own.
It use to be NABI CNG. RIP 2001-2017
I personally had a stronger connection with the RTSs, but yeah.
@@TransitFootage The RTS were kind of rare at the late 2010's. Usually I would find them at Night time. RIP 8000's 1984-2006, Nova 1994-2019.

@@mado3623Couple years ago a 1400 series XDE40 broke down at Sullivan Station and the D40LF 0800s they are the ones that are the beasts
I wonder why a gallery car was included in this movement. And I thought the wires had reached Menlo Park by now, I could have sworn I saw them quite a long way up the peninsula last time to ride Caltrain to the city. Cool footage though. I’ll bet the Caltrain workers are excited to be involved in this
I don't know if it's up now, but this was filmed in August. And there's some speculation about the use of the gallery car in the replies to @ronal8824 's comment.
Where was this shot? I don't recognize the street.
It was taken from a street that Google Maps calls "President's Landing." (42.401976618030716, -71.08124929788822)
@@TransitFootage Thanks -- I've lived here all my life and i STILL don't know where that is! lol And I'm wondering how many times I rode on the very cars in the footage. Probably more than once.
@@TransitFootageI looks like the shot was taken right outside of assembly station lol
Beautiful
Nicely filmed! Thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it!
Well at least this is better than the old orange line train that they pulled onto a siding in Cambridge and left to rot.
Where?
@@TransitFootage - My apologies. It is actually between River’s Edge Drive and Craddock Avenue in Medford, not Cambridge. I often pass by this abandoned train though.
@@ACGreyhound04 Ahh yes.
The extension is confirmed to open on Dec 12!!
So exciting!
Awesome video
Thank you!
Amazing! It’s astounding to me that MBTA made progress. Hopefully soon we get the type 10 LRV’s and the commuter rail will be actually electrified
Type 10s should happen relatively soon. I’m hoping that with new leadership in January they will reconsider such heavy use of batteries on the Commuter Rail, and hopefully use overhead catenary on the Fairmount Line!
Great progress!!!
Do steps come out when the doors open? It seems a long step up otherwise. Why aren't the platforms in line with the interior? For step free access and easy wheelchair access. Is that what the other larger square door further up is for? Doesn't that necessitate a special ramp just for wheel chair access then?
I don't know the ins-and-outs of the electrification process yet, but those are good questions!
I don't believe this model has steps. The platforms don't line up with the interior because most of them are relatively outdated, built before level boarding was standard. The larger square door is to enable the EMUs to be adapted to a different platform height so that they can share stations with California High-Speed Rail. If I'm correct, the existing door assemblies will just be swapped out with the "plug" currently in the upper hole. The platforms are all going to be reconstructed for California High-Speed Rail, and they will be 100% level boarding.
When will it be opening?
Good question!
@@TransitFootage please don't know when it'll be officially opening yet
@@paulcastillo1310 They haven’t released a date yet.
@@TransitFootage ohh ok that's fine I am in Los Angeles and la metro just open the k line two weeks ago
December 12 at the start of service, according to GM Poftak
I miss the 1200s but the 1400s are kind of growing on me.

Why did they put a (bad) synthetic bell on the rebuilt unit? They had a perfectly good real bell that they could have held over from the rebuild. And then they didn't even go to the trouble to fix the coupler mounting or the rust on the back. Not so impressed with this Brookville Equipment Company rebuild . . . but thanks for showing this to us.
I was so frustrated by that - even the new Green Line cars have better bells. Also, I don’t like the stop request bell & door closing chimes. At least it no longer has lead paint…
What were those things taped to the side of the last car?
I don’t know!
Actually I see that they are also taped onto the side of another car.
Could that be for clearance testing? It seems like a super informal way of testing clearance though.
@@queens.dee.223 I thought about that, but they don't stick out far enough to give you much clearance safety margin.
Almost certainly a device for clearance testing.

Stadler Sucks!!!!!!!! Take them pieces of garbage back to where they came from. Diesel power rules!!!!!! Always!!!!!!!!
As old as that train car looks it should have been retired from service 20 years ago. I'm surprised it still provided reliable service.
Actually, they were starting to become rather unreliable. Remember the Orange Line fire a few months ago, and also footage somewhere around here from last winter of one moving with one of its doors open? The T hasn't been maintaining them properly.
@@Lucius_ChiaraviglioI’m assuming that’s why they getting scrapped cause the T don’t care abt them anymore
@@witheredbonnie4666 Seems like they (at least management) didn't care long ago -- hence these cars being allowed to fall into such bad shape due to insufficient maintenance.
@@Lucius_Chiaraviglio that explains it thx
@@Lucius_Chiaraviglio i heard from some RUclipsr that they were gonna keep some in the yard in case of like bad delays they would use them but thats already happened and they weren’t used so I don’t know what mbtas logic is in this
even though they bought STadler kiss, they are still being pulled by Diesel Loco.
Electrification isn't complete yet.
I think they've now begun running them on electric power in the last few months.
Great footage! Would you consider giving permission to use a snippet of it in our upcoming "Bay Area Bountiful" public TV story on Caltrain electrification, with credit? And if so, how shall we credit? Thanks for your consideration.
Thanks! What's the best way to contact you to work out details?
No no no no…those trains were around when I was born and lived up until now and seeing them just leaving from service just makes me sad The things that are the saddest are when the things and people who you knew from the beginning leaves
