Fused Glass - Fun Fishbowl with Scrap Glass and Frit
Просмотров 7239 месяцев назад
This one started out as just a fun project with some scrap glass and some frit... bit it turned out looking very beautiful in my window shelf. I will probably have to change the water every few weeks, but I think it will be worth the effort. The sand came in a 20kg bag, so I will also change the sand to new clean sand when I change the water. The 20kg bag of sand will probably last me more than...

Thank you for watching my video. Sometimes things don't work out as planned, and we can sometimes also be our own biggest critics. But we must realise, that at the end of the day, if we put our time, effort and love into a project, it's worth more than something bought. Can we see the finished product all light up ? Please?
I just got married and am on vacation. I’ll make a short video early in the new year 🌺
If you had to choose beteeen having a heat gun with your iron or a desoldering iron? I’m going to be making things with lots of variety
This was a wonderful project to watch. These are my favorite colors. I visited Africa when I was 18. I speak two languages in the US
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoyed South Africa
Love your works truly inspiring
Thank you so much!
I would love to email you with a few questions I have

Thank you 🌺
Beautiful! Definitely a "Tiffany Style" shade with all of those very small, intricate pieces. The peacock (and wisteria) patterns are my favorites. Well done!
Thank you so much! 🌼
I STILL THINK IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much! 🌼
Thank you for answering my comment . Can you make a short to show what the finished lamp looks like ? Bye 👋
What a great idea!! I will do so soon 🌺
Ps. Thank you for the idea 😃
Part 2 ?
I’m so sorry, I didn’t make a part 2. It takes alot of time to make a video and for the amount of views I got for the first part I thought it may not be worth it. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask anytime
I love it!
Thank you 🌺
This is a lovely project Sandra - thank you. To keep small holes open I use short pieces of lead refill from a propelling pencil - you don't have to wrap them in kiln paper. To keep larger holes open I use short pieces of drawing chalk and again you don't have to wrap in kiln paper. With the chalk, the hole does end up a bit smaller as the chalk seems to shrink.
Thanks for the tip! 🌹
They are beautiful! You are so clever creating with limited power. It looks like your cat was supervising during the hot cup test at the end!
Thank you! 😊🌷
Oh my goodness Sandra! What a wonderfully whimsical gift idea for all the fishermen in my life. Thank you for sharing❤
Your comment makes me so happy! That one of my designs will be made into a special gift 😃 It’s my pleasure and thank you ❤️
They are so beautiful. Thank you.
These are beautiful! Could you please tell me the mold models you used.
Thank you Charmaine. Sorry for getting back to you only now. The mould I use is locally made in South Africa but looks very much the same as Bullseye’s round slumper with code 008629
Brilliant idea! Thank you for sharing! 😊
You are so welcome!
thank u
Any objections to showing this video during a Zoom meeting of our Facebook glass group (Lunch with a Glass Artist-Larry Pile)?
You are welcome to do so ❤️
What part of SA are you in? I lived in the country near Tzaneen and in Cape Town for a while. Window looks cool. I have plans for a fused glass nautilus someday
Hi Danny, I’m in Pretoria
What a super idea for kids ❤
Thank you 🌷
Hi Sandra. This is beautiful. Super job !❤thank you for sharing
Thank you 🌸
Can’t wait to see the finished window! A lot of hard work and patience but I’m sure the result will be fantastic! Thanks again for your videos ❤
Are they called layout strips?
Thank you so much Rachel. Yes, lots of patience, but I do love the challenge, and fingers crossed it all works out well at the end ❤️
I think so, or layout blocks. Thank you! Now I remember 😃
IT'S LOOKING GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Annette 🌸
Many thanks for your video! Especially when you’re so busy! Love stained glass and can’t wait to see your finished window ❤
Thank you so much Rachel. I just posted the second one 🌷
Hi Sandra, don't know if I missed it, but how often, or how far apart do you use strongline? Also where do you get it from. Tx Jean
Hi Jean, the bigger your window is, the more strongline you will need. This one is almost a square meter, therefore not a total necessity but advisable. If you go bigger than this one, it becomes necessary. The spaces will mostly depend on your pattern, where you have the straightest lines from one side to the other, but I would say not more than half a meter apart from each other. If you have your pattern before you, you should also get a “feeling” of where they should go, where you think the window will be most likely buckle
Sorry, almost forgot, I bought it on Amazon
Another thing, the more solder lines you have, the stronger your window will be. Because I have quite large pieces in the window, the solder lines are less and I therefore add strongline
Thank you, that helps a lot.
My pleasure 🌸 You are welcome to ask questions anytime
NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN. THE WINDOW LOOKS NICE SO FAR.
Thank you so much 🌷
Your English is great! ❤
Thank you Marilyn 🌷
I love this one. Can’t wait to try this. Thank you ❤

Very beautiful - I love it🥰 But I can’t see the pdf ? What am I missing?😢
Thank you 🐠 Sorry for answering so late. In the description is a link that starts https. Click on that. Please let me know if you are still struggling so we can make a different plan for you to get it
how to make the mold ? or where to purchase one ? i live in canada
Hi, I’m in South Africa, a lady here makes them. I have no idea how she makes them. Maybe you can ask on one of the stained glass Facebook groups if anyone knows of someone in Canada who can make them
I am not finding the link to your patterns. I am in US. Can you explain where I can find them?
Hi Cathy. In the descriptions under the videos it says “Link to pattern:” and then a link that starts with https. Click on that link. If you continue to struggle, please send a email to alexglass333@gmail.com and let me know which patterns you want. I will then email them to you 🌸
I was able to find them! Thanks for your help. I really enjoyed your content. I subscribed.
I’m glad you found them and that you enjoy my content. Thank you for letting me know and also for subscribing. I’m going to start working on my next video next week… 🩷

Lovely project! Thanks so much for sharing. I’m so sorry for your loss. Our fur babies are a huge part of our lives and leave a big hole when they pass, no matter how long they are with us ❤ Take your time and look forward to your next video when you’re ready 💕
Thank you so much 🩷 Yes, she was my baby, I’m devistated. I have two new rescue babies, brother and sister, busy adapting but already love them so much 🐱🩷🐱🩵
@@alexandrasglassart it’s so hard. Sometimes wonder why we put ourselves through the pain but then focus on the sheer joy they bring! All the very best 💕🐾💕
Thank you Rachel 🌷
What is the mold made out of. And where do you find it? This is a very beautiful lamp.
I’m not exactly sure what it’s made of, It’s a lady here in South Africa who makes them and then another one here who draws patterns on molds. You can maybe ask on the Stained Glass Facebook pages if there is someone in your area who makes molds
Hello, can you tell me what solution you put on the glass before welding the metal? What is that solution for?
It’s flux. I like to use liquid flux (you also get flux in a paste)
@@alexandrasglassart Thank you, that's very helpful to me 🥰
You’re welcome. You are welcome to ask questions any time 🌸
I appreciate you and your art. Thank you for sharing your story. I live near Seattle Washington in America.
