David Lindley - Burnaby Blues and Root Festival 2009
Beautiful
Ages ago I made mp3 from the video. Still listen to that masterpiece, can not believe it is 11 years already.
I wish I would have had David`s right hand !
On my old vinyl or modern cd's the man's vocals , instrumental's are one of a kind !!
I always wondered why when David was alive do a stage performance with Robert Plant .
If its got strings, David Lindley can play it masterfully rip sting master.
Definitely the Yoda of the guitar world, and I mean that in a good way. Raise a glass!
He was spectacular. Grateful for all he created and these treasures left in his wake💪✨❤️🕊🌎
We all miss him so. Can anyone tell what style of bouzouki this is? I have 2 standard bouzouki's with Sunrise PU's (wonder where I got that idea?) This one baffles me... The odd fret spacing. Is there a name for this style.... or is something other than a bouzouki? Thanks in advance for help!
It looks very much like a custom made instrument, basically an Irish bouzouki but with microtonal frets like a Turkish saz. Earlier on David used to play a real saz on certain tunes. My guess is he might have got this hybrid because it was less sensitive to temperature and climate changes. The original saz has wooden tuners which can be a hassle to keep in tune.
Magique!
lol
hmmmm
Svinging ewry culture in the world at the same time WOW.
Can we say GAY
Every time I hear Davy I miss him more..love you davy
This is soooooooooo awesome
The song is called "The State of Arkansas". I think there's another full version available on RUclips; if not, try another site. You tube probably won't let me post the site name or a direct link, but there is a site that rhymes with haste or waste that has a bunch of Lindley and Lindley/Cooder videos and audio recordings.
good 'un It’s also called John Johanna.
Russel invited me and a buddy try out his bass guitars after a stellar performance in Cold Lake about a dozen years ago.
Hey dudes
wowser...heard him do "way out west in Kansas" on NPR mountain stage and was hooked big time...wonderful...hes like a one man orchestra...such a full sound..thanks for posting...great player....
A great great muscian - there are some stille out there some where - thanks...
this guy played the guitar like butter
what did i just watch
This guy is cool looking.
Gut ist gut
David Lindley is immeasurable perfection on any stringed instrument that falls into his hands. Listen and learn from a true master player.
No Doubt!
Agree,. his a great musican :)
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!
this is the best version i heard from David him self or any other. To bad he did not sing the hole song, would have been epic.
stunning stuff, just stunning
He's got a whole house full of custom made and historic instruments...and he plays 'em all
that's my uncle russel! I didn't know he was on here :o
well okay that's different
man nobody helpin that guy load that catapult
Amazing Playing and Player...!!!! But Guys this is NOT A BOYZOYKI i WISH I KNEW WHAT IT IS!!!!
It looks like a sort of Buzuki. Extra frets are for microtones, I guess. Something like old keyboard instruments where black keys were separated in two, so that (say) G-sharp and A-flat are not the same. I've seen guitar fretboards like this.
It actually gets interesting and it launches at 5:10.
I actually found the speech interesting.
Eastern scale (like on a Saz)--gives you access to semi-tones.
How you get this sound?
Boy, I know that's a bouzouki and all, but why the frets looks like this? Does anyone know if that's something with the scale, harmonics or any other stuff?
exelente
A trebuchet is not a type of catapult. A catapult is a device that uses tension to launch objects, a tebuchet uses gravity.
Saw him at The Calvin with acoustic Hot Tuna a couple of years ago and with Jackson Brown at the Springfield Civic Center back in the 70's. Makes it sound like a sitar.
How intriguing!
this particular song isn't has hard as it looks it's all modes but generally this guy is one of the session GREATS!
What kind of instrument is that exactly?
Always good to see Mr. Lindley!
This man is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
Kopf weg
awesome...
what a sound!!
so cool so perfect : )
