Short flight there and back

A lazy edit (again) of this morning’s flight. Not to anywhere, just a local flight. Got above the clouds as it was a little bumpy below.

Short video of a flight on Thursday 7th September #aviation #flying #microlight #takeoffs #landing #flylight #flexwing
That looked like a spicy landing. Hope the breakfast was worth it.😂
Flying somewhere for breakfast is always worth it 😀
I don't understand why some engines have a clutch.
@edwalker2790 I think for ease of starting.
What's that nav unit?
@edwalker2790 It's a Naviter Omni, a small version of the Oudie N
Good stuff 👍

That looked like a blast. Well done.
Thanks, loads of fun

Hi Chris, which part of the country are you based at ? It looked lovely 👍👍
Wiltshire. Home strip is Brown Shutters Farm.
@@chrsfrwll lovely scenery👍👍
Those days are the best.
They certainly are. It was glorious this morning.
It definitely covers some distance doesn't it. Sweet landing.
That it does and thanks. Just disappointed by the rut shortly after touch down that jolted me a little just before the track. Would’ve been butter smooth but for that.
👍

Nice. I must get the taller screen. My aircraft keeps trying to remove my helmet!!
Thanks. The screen makes a big difference though I still need to tighten my visor screws
Beautiful Chris.
Thanks Giles, though still trying to figure out how to best use the GoPros
Back on the paramotor..:)
Old video. Recently blown knee means no more paramotor. Wheels only from now on, so sold it and bought a motorbike instead.
@@chrsfrwll No way, I hope you are not in too much pain.
Manageable now but walking slowly and weekly physio for moment. Gutted to sell the paramotor but no way I was walking with that on my back much less run across a field.
It certainly floats.
Still figuring out its handling of slow/fast approaches. Fast tends to use up runway quickly, especially when downhill 🤣
@@chrsfrwll it will come in slower, it's just more fun a little fast😜.
@GolfFoxtrot22 that's pretty much how I'm finding it
👍
Thanks
It has a unique ability to handle rough air. Landings just become fun.
It's certainly up'd my window
Awesome. I love the way the NiNe can deal with strong winds. 👍
@paulieb796 maybe "stronger" winds. Not sure I'd want to go out in a gale 🤣 but it certainly copes well with the gusts
👍
Thanks
Awesome machine. 👍
That 303 is the dog's bits
👍
Cheers
You'll be planning routes now. 😅
Had planned to go to Popham that flight but winds picked up and it got too gusty, so 180'd and RTB
That's covering some ground.
It certainly shifts
Hi What engine are you running what horsepower?
That flight was with the Moster 185, which is 25HP. Currently have a Nine with a Polini 303, which is 38HP
@@chrsfrwllcan you comment on using a Moster with the Nine initially? (with perhaps upgrade later to more powerful motor). Is there anything wrong with just using the Moster 185? Slower climb rate no doubt, but does it affect cruise speed/max speed?
@@greghauptmann The Moster 185 is perfectly capable of powering the Nine. What you will find is climb is more subdued and at cruise the revs will be a little higher as the engine needs to work that little bit harder. Pull on full speed however and you'll be descending, as the Moster isn't powerful enough for flat out straight and level. Hope that helps.
@@chrsfrwll yes thanks. If I have a Moster 185 engine currently it seems a good idea to go straight for the Nine wing? (then when funds are available can upgrade the motor)
@@greghauptmann yep that's one option and I know people who did that
Ah no that was deliberate. His kindness means that he wanted to provide you with some content for RUclips. 😉😂
Brilliant!!!!! Soon it will be flying a lot!
Hope so
Go and fly 😊
As soon as weather and strip allow!
Exciting!!! It’s one hell of a wing.
I look forward to flying it, when everything dries out. In the meantime I'll have fun running the Thor 303.
You'll love it Chris.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 of that I have no doubt. Just impatient to get going. Phil has already told me he expects me to fly in and and visit Sywell.
Sounds good 👍
@@patrickmckowen2999 definitely makes the Nine sound more "aircraft"
it seams that you use the Moster Vittorazi 185 cc? Is it enough for the small size of the wing Nine?
The Moster 185 was very capable, except when flying at the top of the speed range, where it can't maintain straight and level.
interesting, thanks, nice video@@chrsfrwll
I recognise that location. Yes, it's certainly not boring
I keep forgetting to tighten mine up too.
I keep telling myself I'll do it next time
Wind dam helps with this issue😂.
Greaser of a landing. Nice left foot breaking too.
Thanks. Yes was quite pleased with that one. Looking forward to having proper brakes on the Nine.
A bit choppy?
Mid day flying can be
Nice vid👍
👍
Beautiful.
That it was
So have you placed the order yet? 😉
Might have.... 🤔😀
Good to see you enjoying yourself! I remember you from one of Giles' videos. I'm just beginning my journey to NPPL and have a Peabee at Darley Moor. Hope to see you at one of the many great little airfields in the UK before too long. 👍😁
Ah that one. Can't promise anything I produce will be up to @GolfFoxtrot22 standard - most of the time I can't be bothered with the cameras 😂 but thanks for the sub. And good luck with your NPPL
@@chrsfrwll Thanks, Chris. 😁
Hi there. It may be cold but the view is amazing. Can I ask you a couple of questions: 1. What is the black rectangle at eye level on your front post? 2. What do you use for altimeter and airspeed; and where do you put them? Sounds like you may be using a hand held vario? But what about airspeed? I have a trike on order but it’s a ways out. So loving vicariously at the moment and asking lots of questions! Love your Adam wing. Looks really sharp.
@IanM-MA the black rectangular object is an Oudie, which is my moving-map/vario/altimeter(plus a few other things) and it's that you can hear beeping. I don't have an airspeed indicator; you don't really need one on these aircraft. Enjoy yours when it comes.
Ooh. That does seem to zip along. Which engine were you flying it with?
@paulieb796 it certainly does. This was just with the Factory R. Looking forward to trying it with the 303.
@@chrsfrwllThat ought t be a rocket!
Yabadabado!!!
Indeed (had to reply to clear it out of Studio 😂)
Its a beast of a wing. Nice to see the Sealskinz gloves are getting more popular ;)
@GolfFoxtrot22 Like a lot of stuff, seen on your channel first (Sealskinz, Oudie, Adam, Nine....) 🤣
How much do one of the ultra light crafts cost? And are they relatively easy to use???
From 10k upwards new, depending on manufacturer. Easy enough with training 😉
