seems like this one is pretty controversial. personally i think that the twist itself is pretty fucking cool, however you do need to have a certain tolerance for it. omitting information or lying to the viewer can be a pretty effective narrative tool if done well. i think the issue is that joe refused to think about it in non game contexts (like movies or books). i do get his complaints though; while personally i trust the game to not do it again, i do recognize that it CAN, which means that literally anything can happen now (similar to monokuma and all of his weird stuff)

I know Joe’s reaction to this twist might come off as over the top, but it’s a shame it affected how much he could enjoy the writing. Interestingly: an example of the twist Kaede that did it and we overlooked the clues in the writing was done in Knives Out 2. In a scene we see the protagonist poisoning someone, and it explicitly shows us that they swapped glasses but does it so subtly that we don’t notice on a first watch. It then points it out for those who missed it, instead of lying about the scene or covering it up the first time it happens. If V3 did that here, I feel like less people would be angry. Just write it in a way that’s more subtle but you can piece it together if you’re eagle eyed.

This is one of those steams where Joe just seems annoyed with everything with no good reasoning, like everything is to be nitpicked and to be laughed at, "no one would think this", "no one would say this", "this is bad", "this doesn't matter at all", bad bad bad, gets real old real fast. It's not even about flaws at this point, it's being annoyed by every minute thing you can think of.
