Hello Tim! First of all i want to say big thank you for your video, it so calm and nice to watch, it's smth like a little story and your point of view of bikes in your life and your new ebike. I found many answers on my questions about Tero bike in your video. Last 2 weeks i was considering what bike i will buy for my self. It was pretty hard because my experience with e bikes is so poor, even normal bikes i just had a few. After some test drive of Tero i found that having a motor in a bike is so cool feature and make ride more enjoyable and comfort almost without cons. It was really difficult to choose emtb because of price/lack of experience with them and so different types for different people needs. I was looking for a bike to full fill most of my bike needs i will ever have . I was looking for something optional. Earlier I almost buy Levo/Levo SL as an signature bike of Specialized but i changed my mind and have chosen Tero 5.0 eq of new 2025 line. I hope that was not bad choice, the reason why i didn't take Levo is that i don't think trails or donwhill will be my often activity. Earlier i never did trails and after few common green/blue trails on mtb i rent i not found it smth i will do all time. Probably sometimes, but not like all time activity. On a future bike i think i will ride more common and do some kind of "Adventure". Just to go from 1 place to another, to go to some cool places, nature rides or just without any finish point to go somewhere depends on my mood. Here where i am a hills area with few mountains and a lot up and down roads, so high torque engine will help a lot to get it easy. And here possible to ride tero up to 45 km/h as i understood, so i think that is pretty cool monster bike for a long range and comfort ride on most of terrain and situations i will need. As i read Tero is pretty long range and universal bike and a good choice if i want to combine city rides with different kind of terrain/forest roads/some mountain roads rides. So i hope i did a good choice for what i need and Tero will fullfill my bike needs and bring new colours of bike rides in my life. I will get my purchased bike here probably only in 2-3 months (it's not easy to delivery and no official store, but retailer) and then when i ll get it will be end of winter/start of spring and i will test it a lot. By the way, how are you and your bike, Tim? Thank you again for that kind story and experience with your new ebike, Tim. It's was really cool to watch, it's like a short film. And your own opinion and thoughts of Tero bike with sharing some stories and your rides on it, i enjoyed it way more than read tons of review pages or compares and it was very useful. A good rides and fun days for you!
Hi, I am really pleased my review was helpful to you and I really appreciate the comprehensive response. It's nice to know that you have been convinced by my work to take the plunge and enjoy a new hobby. It sounds like you probably have far more exciting terrain than I do on my doorstep - so go enjoy the outdoors on your new powered ebike!
@@TimFurlong Ty friend! i m excited to try a new bike it will delivery closer to spring, thank you for reply on my comment!
They've changed that line to suit the woke brigade. It's now " always keep out of the reach of children"🙄
Goodness, how did you find this? That's my daughter doing the voice-over by the way.
@@TimFurlong Hello, the new woke version just came up in an ad during a RUclips video I was watching. I knew something was different from the original so i looked it up🙂
Slipped in some politics there.
Two years old, but still a lot of fun . . . thanks! I've concluded that for most purposes, internal gear hubs with belt drives make more sense on e-bikes than derailleurs and chains. What are your thoughts?
You could well be right - I've never had a problem with a derailleur on this one...yet...but certainly on others - I have little experience of internal gears, have you?
@@TimFurlong I have zero knowledge of the 21st century versions, which are a far cry from the 3 speed I had as a kid. But it seems to me that derailleurs are taking on something they weren't designed for with these technically advanced and powerful e-bikes. They are becoming so popular that I'm sure we'll find out soon enough whether or not they are up to the task.
I started to attempt a good reply but it seems the answer to your question is contextual. So here's a Reddit that gives some very good answers www.reddit.com/r/bikecommuting/s/ekjy5rFS5g

What a phenomenal commute! Great video. Many thanks.
I think you would have been better off with the vardo . They are good on the gravel and fast on the roads
I know roadmen are meant to be a bit dim but I'm pretty sure he knew it was Jay that shouted it not Simon.
Cool video! Chose this bike based on price/performance and your video made me realise it's a good decision (especially as they are cheaper now...!) Can't wait to get it. Haven't been on a pushbike in 10 years...!
Thank you . This video is very helpful . Ive just bought one . What tire pressures are you running?
Max, about 50psi. But that's hard, for road.
British comedy like this to me never gets old!! #BusWankers 😂😂😂
Great video.. looking forward to get mine😊
great video and report. I have just bought the Vado 5.0 EQ.
Great track. Thanks Tim and Abbi. I noticed this on your Specialized ebike review.
Have a good weekend
Hi Tim. Qny problem with servicing the motor as yet? As a Specialized unit, there are less up North than in the SE. Love the music by the way, but Shazam couldn't detect the right one. Any tips?
Hi, to be honest, I've not serviced it yet as my dealer is too far from me, so will take into my local shop soon. The motor is fine, but I have an issue with the control buttons that I need sorted (the one to go up and walk). I'll try and do a one year on video once I get it sorted. The music is all my own work, with the help of my little friend Abbi. I've linked to my RUclips in a comment further down, or search my channel for "Amazing Things".
I really like this bike, it makes me want to explore more and more. So well made and comfortable
It's cheating end of! But each to their own.
Cheating suggests there is dishonesty in our choice to own and enjoy an ebike. Please explain.

Your pedaling looks very intense in the video. Do you feel like you are pedaling more often compared to riding your 29" MTB? On my 29" MTB on a straight road, I stick to the reference pedaling speed of 90 rpm, but it's tiring to do it for a long time :) . This is probably individual, and according to the physical condition of the cyclist.
Hmmmm, I'm not sure where you've observed that but I do find the gearing reasonable. Of course, you could change that, if you so wish.
This is now going for 2.5k and i can get on the cycle to work scheme. Should i go for it Sir?
2.5k sounds like a very reasonable price!
@@TimFurlong Hi Tim can you ride it without electric function?

I’ve had my Gazelle U380 HMB for a year now. So this is very interesting video as it is similarly priced and specked, although I went with an enviolo hub CVT with carbon belt drive. It uses the Bosch smart system which was important for me as it came with the Connect system for security and flow app. Having a motor assists with pedalling and just makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
I ride my e-bike more consistently, and longer distance. As a commuter vehicle there is no contest. Bean powered bike means I drive my car more often. Only downside is the motors can be annoying to listen to.
Bom dia Tim! What a wonderful film, I enjoyed watching this immensely and it was just the review I was looking for. I moved to northern Portugal last week from Brighton and was thinking of buying this very bike. Your video is the final piece in the jigsaw - now to try out some fledgling POrtuguese with the "local" Specialized dealer some 30 miles away - I cannot thank you enough for putting the time and creativity into making this - safe riding Tim - Obrigado Maf
Thanks Maf! Sounds like you are starting a great new adventure and the Portuguese mountains will be a change to the South Downs. Let me know how you get on.
Morning Tim, thanks for your reply. I’ve sent messages to half a dozen Specialized stores in my region and some positive responses already. I wondered if it’s easy to take the back rack and large mudguards off, or is that not possible with the light embedded? Perhaps I should go for the non EQ version? I only plan to use the bike for Summer and sunny days here in Portugal. The hills are very steep so also wondered if the 4 would give me the “ help” I need…I’m 56 and pretty fit so think it’ll be okay. Any thoughts Tim 👍🏾
@@thesmithsmaf Hi, I am guessing taking them off is easy enough, as they do the non-EQ version but as soon as you take them off, would you ever put them back on? The question really is, how wet, muddy and dark is it going to get in those Portuguese mountains? I am guessing not much, and the extra weight loss, will be to your advantage too.
@@TimFurlong thanks again for taking the rime to reply and help. I have opted for a Turbo TeroX 4 which is on offer in Brighton for £2K , I guess its a older model that they are wanting to off load before newer models come in. Now I just need to figure out how to get it over to Portugal. Once again thanks for the tips and safe riding...Maf .ps. Yes I won't be riding it in the the wet so I'm agnostic about mudguards etc.
first rate, thanks
Hilarious. Charlie H would surely be proud.
What’s the bike been like? Is it too heavy to ride if you run out of power?
I do need to do a one year on review, however, I've actually been out on it for 6 months. In answer to your question, yes, it'll be too heavy to cycle more than a couple of miles, especially uphill as you will have seen.
does the display also show routes/GPS?
Nope - but the phone app will.
great video! love the range callout - 94km! that's amazing. do you feel like it tests your fitness too? wondering if the assist negates any exercise benefits? One of goals is to do longer rides, but also worried if i run out of range is it too heavy to ride without battery support?
Instead of a 20 mile off-road ride, you can do a 40 mile ride - so still keeps you fit, though I still feel it doesn't give you the extreme workout a conventional MTB would. As can be seen on the video, cycling uphill a mile and a half with no power was tough and I could not do that twice over without a rest - the bike is very heavy.
I have a tero 4 eq, the bike has a "micro" engine mode, engine power scaling every 10%, I can ride 150 km without any problems, skillful power adjustment allows for a range of up to 200 km. My weight is 75 kg. Great bike, I love it. My ride yesterday: 55 km, I used 26% of the battery. On flat roads and slight hills I use 20% - max 30% of the engine power, appropriate cadence 80-90 rpm... gives great results in battery life
To taken the Tero for its first ride and I wasn't disappointed. What a machine and look forward to hitting the trails in my area with some monster climbs
Watched this video this morning and so looking forward to picking up this very bike this afternoon. Great indepth review on this Rig
Great stuff! I should start taking commission. Hope you have fun.
"I'd rather be a bus wanker than drive that piece of yellow shit 😂
Thanks for this video and for the pointer to the other review. This bike is on sale at the moment for £2,500 so, unless I change my mind by the end of this video (which I’ve watched several times), I’m buying it.
@DazzleOnTv I bought one. Really really pleased with it.
You voice is a little bit somniferous, but my friend what a good video, the comments are right on point and it is good to see that you enjoy the bike!!! keep going!!!!
Ha! I'll take that as a compliment - not a big fan of the over-enthusiastic, shouty youtubers.
