WFAA TV Final Analog Broadcast 061209
These are the final moments of WFAA-TV on its analog Channel 8. Chief meteorologist Pete Delkus narrates this brief retrospective of WFAA, including stills from its early days as KBTV, and footage from its history. It ends with a real treat, a sign-off tape from the mid '70s, then goes to snow forever.

1:26 it starting a logo
One of the best Analog Shutdown in all of Texas. This guy has the DVD to play this Analog Sign-off.
I’ve been to Dallas, but I was born after the DTV switch. :( So long, analog
is it the best analog shutdown?
2:50 on your deathbed leading up to the last flashbacks of your life as a dallasite viewer of WFAA before the impending doom of eternal death, or static.
i love how you get to see some of the history of these tv stations its very unique
I was a kid when i was that in the late 1969 and 1970’s.
This is the definition of going out in style
Talk about a curtain call for WFAA's analog history. The sign off was indeed how ABC 8 went out in style before going all digital
Probably one of the best signoffs I have ever seen
The best in my opinion would be kdka
That’s a beautiful sign off, but that logo at the end with the 8 jumping around is kinda creepy ngl. And it’s even more creepy here since right after that, it will cut to snow. Also, for the late 60s and 70s, that sign off is very well worked. That looks like an 80s sign off, can’t believe it aired in the 70s and even the 60s, it’s so high quality too.
The end scared me a little
Me, too. Kinda creepy.
You will see it again...🙏👍👁️👁️🚧🌍🌍🌍👽🎉✔️🎵😇🌟🙏
FYI WFAA is Dallas's ABC affiliate
My abc affiliate
Well-done, Channel 8. Well done. Now that's a classy analog signoff!
Rip you will be missed
A lot of American stations switch off their analog transmitter with vintage footage, news program switching off analog, or the US national anthem.
been 7 months and i now know bout shit
Lame
B B big wow
#WFAA
Was there any nightlight service?
There was. KDFW channel 4 and KXAS channel 5 both ran nightlight service in the Dallas market.
ABS CBN Sign off (May 5, 2020)
Dude, that was a government order shutdown, not an analog broadcasting shutdown. 🙄🙄🙄
a friend of mine had made a converter box that transmits what signal it gets to analog my neighborhood has a lot of old tvs on people’s tables
Seeing that historical sign off made me cry and smile, and when I saw the old 8 logo jumping around at the end, my mind was stuck in nostalgia!! This was great! I love how most stations did their old sign offs when they switched to all digital!
It has now been (over, since I'm late) 10 years since this happened.
11 years now
13 years now. How time flies.
15 years later now
The ending sounds like a tv logo! 3:08
This music theme actually started in the mid-1970s, and it was the closing theme of the first 5 pm newscast Channel 8 ever had. It was not only used at sign-off, but also at the end of News 8 at 5 with Bob Gooding. Bonus points if anybody can locate the opening theme to that same newscast, which was a little different but of the same vein.
How sad
Thank you for including the static at the end!
the iconic seal of good practice. NO network today would be deserving of that seal.
do you have videos from kdaf & kdtx
0:00 I guess, This Sign-off video can be played live at Sony DVD Player
Pfft

When WFAA TV shutdowns the analogue. And this static is so scary. I used my headphones and It scared me! 😭😭😭 (Btw, I'm 10 year old)
LetsGoPlayZ I am really scared of film splices from SMPTE Foots. Sometimes I have nightmares that it’s going to eat me up alive. 😰😰😰 I am 12 yrs old
Does someone have a video of the original 70s sign off? The original video was taken down...
it has now been 40 years since the final days of the Dallas-Fort Worth Turnpike. December 1977, tolls on I-30 were coming to an end, it is now December 2017.
shortly after, January 1978 Dallas Cowboys won their second super bowl. So it was a win-win for the Dallas Fort Worth area.
Where is the Test Pattern After The Sign Off?
EAS CEC Analog stations had to be completely turned off
This was the digital cutover. Unless you were a nightlight station (one that would continuously broadcast information about the DTV switchover and where to get a converter box), you had to shut down the analog transmitter after the signoff.
The day of the digital transition, I managed to catch the tail-end of this sign-off on the station's newscast as me and my family have cable. This is quite possibly the best ever analog TV sendoff. Thanks for uploading! Someone should do a simultaneous side-by-side video of WFAA's analog and digital signals (not just the final minute side-by-side one shown on the newscast) as the transition happened.
God bless Texas, for me it's Texas or Illinois, no way am I going back to live in Illinois where I was born. I may not have been born in Texas but this has been my state of residency for the last 17 years, been here since summer 2000. So obviously, I'm gonna live and die right here in Texas, Go Cowboys! -Sun. 6/18/2017
I sure as hell don't care to move to California, New York, or anywhere else. Keep Texas red and conservative. No democrats! only republicans.
exactly 10 years ago today, it's Wednesday June 12, 2019.
Analog sign-offs make it good!
the day analog stations died, the Pirate TV stations took over
What Is That 📺 Set
Hallicrafters model 505 or T-54

Anyone got a analog signoff from Louisiana? (Looking for Anything from New Orleans especially if possible)
That was already there, I was more towards the lines of WWL and WDSU
