@@OLdweeb I am thinking that Digger Julie and I can host a seeded hunt this next year in the north county. I'll have to research the rules on doing that because we're not a club or anything. I seem to remember someone telling me there are restrictions. We'll see. 😉

@landslide03 Hi there! I would recommend the Equinox 700 over the Vanquish 540 myself. They are both multi-frequency machines, but the Nox will give you more setting options for detecting in different environments. If you want simpler, the Vanquish seems to be best for detectorists who like to keep things simple. Check out some of the detecting forums online, and you will get some other opinions too! Glad to share what little I know. ;) I started with the Garrett AT Max. Used it for a month, and now it sits in the corner. Minelabs has a great line of machines and excellent customer service.

@@GoldDiggerBarbie Thanks so much for getting back to me. I actually bought a Garrett Ace 250 a couple weeks ago to trace a pipe in my slab that I need to cut out. I have been watching a lot of youtube videos about metal detecting and I really want to try it. The only thing is, I am a little self conscious about going out in public with the machine. Would you ever be free to let me tag along with you and show me how to use the machine? I just ordered the Equinox 700 based on your advice!

@OLdweeb Thank you! I'll be 62 in a week or so. I had a routine medical test that turned into a life-threatening event a year and a half ago, so I try to just stay happy, keep moving, and count my many blessings. I had to give up riding the Harleys (for now), so I metal detect! Digger Barbie *

@@GoldDiggerBarbie - Keep doing what you're doing! Being home-bound alone & unable to walk for 2+ months made me realize how much I'd always taken for granted. Am definitely taking advantage of my recovery to beach-detect as often as I can -&- recording it on YT as a video diary. 😃

@OLdweeb yes, I made some adjustments to the edited final, but most of the problem has been solved by adjusting camera and import settings. My video of our next hunt will be much better! Digger Julie is already a pro, but I'm getting there. Thanks for supporting us!

It wasn't a complaint, just a question. 😜 For all I knew, the square was a new artistic format type - I'm usually the last to find out about these things. 🙃

@OLdweeb welcome, and thanks for joining us! We bounce around the San Diego beaches and even went to Oahu last year. The weather is changing, so there will be a shift in the things we find and where we hunt. The coins will definitely get uglier! I've found my best goodies in the fall and winter months! Stay tuned!

@@GoldDiggerBarbie - agree. I find a lot more (but often worn down) coins in the winter. Also, decades-old stuff mixed-in. I post everything found in my ending wrap ups. My primary beach is Ventura. / Looking fwd!
