Apparently I have been ice fishing all wrong. Here's to you Joe! What a treat it would have been to sit and chat with this gentleman and catch a few fish on hard water.
My father's "Pickled Pike" recipe is/was much better than this guys tasty dream but I have no match to his motorized ice shanty... Whatta true blue ice fisherman...
What a wonderful guy. God bless him and his ideas. My Mom used to make pickled northern too. Great snack. This motorized ice hut would be a hot seller around the lake areas. Thanks for the vid
Donna Podnar Cool! Glad to hear it's being preserved in the family. What a great uncle to have. (I see I wasn't the only one commenting on the video's title. Maybe a more appropriate title would be "John's Uncle Joe's Ice Shack"...?) :-) Thanks!
love these creative guys. I have met many in my lifetime living in Northern Wi. I am a machinist and the old guys like this are creative and independent, not may left in our throw away society.. I am going to remake my shack into something likes Joe has so I can move to find the fish and not have to drill so many holes all the lake. Great idea. If you see my shack on Lake Alice in Tomahawk Wi I will give Joe the credit he is due..
Truly. I just hate it when my whole left side sink counter stacks up with empties and it takes me several minutes to crush them. I know I know. I 'could' crush them as I drink them but then I could not drink at all. Equally likely to happen.
That's an intelligent man. Hopefully he has young family members to pass it on. I could listen to his stories all day long
Love the shack would love to see more of how you put it together
I love this! I need to look around for some tracks wish I knew how he did it. What a slick idea.
I bet his father was from Russia ....
wickid sick

I really enjoyed his dialect as well. "And I says" strong "O" sound. Very Upper Midwestern.
Love that man👍
This man is a genius
I would love to sit and BS with this guy
And we now have the sno bear! And it’s selling like crazy. Polaris shouldn’t have turned that idea down
That is awesome!
Is his name Joe or John, "you know?"
Hats off to John....how many guys have thought about a shack like this and never followed through with it.
A very creative old man! I love it!
The 1st Snowbear.
This guy is my hero
You are so cool Joe . I agree with you on the type of ice fishing you do. . Good luck this season 👍 . Thx for sharing . Glad I ran across your story.
good to see Joe was an Old Style man, a toast to Joe, landed a nice northern there too
Wonder what ever happened to his ice shack? I'd buy it
He is a thinker "
Someone from my hometown would do something like that.
Awesome

I love his hat.
Brilliant idea and I'm sure there are a number of commercial applications.
Really inventive!!!
He passed away in 2010: www.uppermichiganssource.com/neighborhood/obituary.aspx?id=315860
Why is the video called "John's ice shack" when the guy's name is Joe? (Joseph Podner).
Joe passed away several years ago. His nephew, John now has it & is very proud of his Uncle Joe :)

I love this, we can learn a lot from our older generation.
Am I the only one bothered by the video being entitled "John's" when his name was "Joe"?

This is the type of Ice House I need. Cheaper than a snow bear!
Great Story...Some Grandchild will have a great mentor to learn from!
We NEED this fish shack! Would be so much easier to take our wheelchair bound son fishing!!
My track truck is going to be the next ice fishing shack!!!
Joe is a genius!! People like him should be praised for his expertise!
Good stuff!
That can crusher idea is totally brilliant, and there's a huge market for something like that today. Two thumbs up to Joe Podner for inventing it.
