'Shifting Baseline Syndrome: causes and consequences on nature conservation' with Margaux Pierrel
Просмотров 1323 месяца назад
Shifting baseline syndrome (SBS) is a psychological and sociological phenomenon describing a gradual change in the accepted norms for the state of nature, due to a lack of memory, knowledge or experience of its past condition. In other words, what we consider to be a normal state of nature now, previous generations might consider degraded; and what we consider to be degraded now, future generat...

If there is a Dolmen on your land is it protected ,even if it is not well known, just thought you guys would be in the know on this subject?
It's great seeing other recipients' stories after the work, plants and grants have been given :)
Super cool. Love the detailed information. Fascinating
A very interesting presentation. Are the Genetics from these individuals assessed to see if there are any of their other bones have appeared elsewhere??? There is no mention of inhumation of the bodies? The platform itself tends to suggest just such a practice.??
Those pines have such wonderful gnarled, stunted shapes - almost like very large bonsai trees. In view of the limitations of seed propagation, has it been considered whether to follow the strategy of the Kielderhead project in N. England, where the putative native Kielder Scots pines are also being increased by vegetative grafting (Manning & Cavers, 2023) ?
Really useful, thanks Feidhlim and all involved.
Really useful, thanks Feidhlim and all involved.
oooh! So excited! I'm looking forward to our "site visit" soon from Hare's Corner advisor and fingers crossed we"ll come up with a plan to suit our North West Mayo location.
This was terrific, thank you from Fern in Minnesota, USA. I really enjoy your presentations.
Great talk and education
Really enjoyed the talk. Well done. Time to go underground.
The dolmens would have been covered with alternating layers of clay, sand, and gravel, forming a dome over the rocks. This dome becomes a parabolic reflector, focusing the earth's electromagnetic energy on a shaman to enhance his trance experience. The burials could have happened much later
Could be that the reason a site where people are gathering for construction and ceremonies is built near a water supply was that coca cola hadn’t been invented yet? It’s beyond me why the practical human needs of the users of these sites are ignored by researchers.
thanks, great talk altogether,is there a similar talk on dun Aengosa?

Surrounded by ruins in every corner of every continent, how is it that every one of these civilizations perished despite their obvious frank superiority over us in technology, and spiritual knowledge? Fallen angels guide us today to drool in mesmerized fascination over the architecture of the pre-flood world. So they led the first people after the flood who repopulated the earth, to search, in mesmerized fascination for the idolatrous megalithic remains of the pre-flood world. Finding remains, they would attempt to 'build -back-better', seeking to re-establish worship via communion with the dead. But, as among thieves, there is no honor or glory at the end of all the promises and seductions of fallen angels. Gullible humans who cherish sin are no match for the same spirits who led the antedeluvian wicked world to reject the Word through Noah. Just what exactly is the significance of a heap of megalithic stones? What kind of individuals were buried in this exact same way? Who is glorified by honoring those who died this way; Jesus Christ (obedient unto death; Lord of the living), or satan (rebel-father despising Jesus to the death; the ‘God of the dead’)? Joshua 7:21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it. 7:26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day. 8:29 And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until eventide: and as soon as the sun was down, Joshua commanded that they should take his carcase down from the tree, and cast it at the entering of the gate of the city, and raise thereon a great heap of stones, that remaineth unto this day. 2Samuel 18:17 And they took Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great heap of stones upon him: and all Israel fled every one to his tent. Just as the 'ancient' giant fossilized animals and plants, all the pre-flood people were giant, even in their smallest specimens. They lived many many hundreds of years and not only had brains more than twice our size and corresponding vastly superior intelligence, they had flawless memory as well. Theirs was an evidently global religious advanced culture whose wicked worship, marked by human sacrifice and worship of the dead (necromancy; spirit seduction; following fallen angels) called for global judgment. Radiometric dating relies on multiple assumptions (blind faith), which is why it is so often wrong by millions of years. It does not require millions of years to produce coal oil and fossils. It does require a global flood to get everything we find when examining the global world-culture antedeluvian graveyard witnessed worldwide. Hollywood, the papacy, and all the churches counterfeit, misrepresent, and despise but one thing; the Bible; the Word; Jesus Christ. You and I had better get to know this Creator since there were only 8 people on that ark. “Then “the fountains of the great deep” were “broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” Water appeared to come from the clouds in mighty cataracts. Rivers broke away from their boundaries, and overflowed the valleys. Jets of water burst from the earth with indescribable force, throwing massive rocks hundreds of feet into the air, and these, in falling, buried themselves deep in the ground. The people first beheld the destruction of the works of their own hands. Their splendid buildings, and the beautiful gardens and groves where they had placed their idols, were destroyed by lightning from heaven, and the ruins were scattered far and wide. The altars on which human sacrifices had been offered were torn down, and the worshipers were made to tremble at the power of the living God, and to know that it was their corruption and idolatry which had called down their destruction. Some of the people bound their children and themselves upon powerful animals, knowing that these were tenacious of life, and would climb to the highest points to escape the rising waters. Some fastened themselves to lofty trees on the summit of hills or mountains; but the trees were uprooted, and with their burden of living beings were hurled into the seething billows. One spot after another that promised safety was abandoned. As the waters rose higher and higher, the people fled for refuge to the loftiest mountains. Often man and beast would struggle together for a foothold, until both were swept away. From the highest peaks men looked abroad upon a shoreless ocean. The solemn warnings of God’s servant no longer seemed a subject for ridicule and scorning. How those doomed sinners longed for the opportunities which they had slighted! How they pleaded for one hour’s probation, one more privilege of mercy, one call from the lips of Noah! But the sweet voice of mercy was no more to be heard by them. Love, no less than justice, demanded that God’s judgments should put a check on sin. The avenging waters swept over the last retreat, and the despisers of God perished in the black depths.” {Patriarchs and Prophets; The Flood}
Thanks for such an insightful presentation. So much rich research there making the clear case for something that, as you say, should really be obvious ("it's a sign of our disconnection that we have to show that the habitat we evolved in is good for our wellbeing") I'm curious to know how your work connects with disciplines and practices like biomimicry and permaculture that are seeking to learn from nature and not just about it or connect deeply with it.
PN16 is one of my ancient mtDNA matches via my rare Y-DNA match to Pollnagollum 911 who is a mtDNA K1b1a1 to PN16. She could be my grandmother, aunt or female cousin.
This is super useful. I'm hoping to apply for the grants you offer, so understanding more about what to consider is great. Thank you. (Also it looks and sounds delightful there!)
Great post thanks
And my Pop used to sing to me in Irish, I loved it and asked if they could teach me. I would imagine there are others like me, at least I hope so. It's part of the Culture of the Irish and is beautiful. The youth can save it. Really really hope they will..
I think this is absolutely necessary, I'm of Irish descent , 2nd generation. Born in Bronx, NY my grands spoke to each other in Irish, I wanted to learn it 50 yrs ago. My Popop& Nana used to sing to each other in Irish
Love all of your material, very informative, thank you for working your time and sharing 💯🍀💚
This is very informative, seems as though whomever was trying to take over the Beautiful Country of Ireland was not starving... This is the one luck of the Irish...💯💚🇮🇪🍀
Again this is so informative, kids really need to get involved, they are the ones to bring this crazy world 🌍 ahead. It's vital if you ask me @ 61 wish was explained this way, I would have paid more attention, even though I liked it than, the teacher didn't. Like going to a crappy doctor, useless time, energy... A huge waste of time
Wish would have had teachers like the way you explained all of it. If you don't understand the terms, the program you used has them in charts . I want to thank you again 💯💚🍀🇮🇪
Think it's lovely, sharing the history with especially the youth. For they are going to bring this crazy world forward. My 💚💯is with you all. Thank you for sharing 🍀💯🇮🇪
This is lovely, I hope all that's found will keep going. This proves the ancestors were very resourceful,. If they were not there hopefully more.. Thank you for sharing 💯💚🍀🇮🇪
Thank-you very much for this wonderful presentation.
Very interesting presentation. Thank you. It has been some years since I visited Poulnabrone but I very much enjoyed learning all that was discovered about the tomb.
wow an amazing talk
Fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing this very informative video. It was a great experience working on the site and I look forward to next year.

What about the basin on the right inside the big church with the fighting animals?
Can I ask how you got inside? Is a key available? Want to bring a group there. Was there with Silvina.

This was a very interesting talk! Thanks so much for posting it for everyone to see.
I live 3 miles SW FROM Frenchman’s Knob Cave. I have a pretty good sized sinkhole on my property. I have always wondered if I had a cave under the sinkhole. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Dig it I would bet 100$ it’s a passage into Frenchman’s never know till you pick up a shovel Me and a buddy found a entrance to the crystal onyx cave on his piece of property a few months ago and I gotta say I’m pretty jealous LOL nothing more badass owning free access to explore a diamond preserve anytime you want!! Ya never know what you might come across, the entrance we dug into isn’t a hundred yards away from his house in the tree line
A wealth of information in this talk 👍
Great presentation, Silvina with sparse information from lack of excavation. 4****
Well delivered lecture, thanks Colin.
Fantastic talk. Much appreciated.
Brilliant presentation. Many thanks Dr. Bergh 👌
Remember holidays in the 1960's in Oughtdarra ( Kelleher) my dad's home and his brother Johnny used to save hay i n ( what was called the Craig's ) 5acres on top of Sleive Elva towards FANORE the few cattle the had wintered up there he would check them every couple of days long trip up the mountin cut the hay out of the PIKE with his hay knife and fork it out to the cattle open ground rock shelter and there would a lovely furry warm coat on those cattle coming down in the spring to fresh pasture ,and let the ( Cregg's) grow meadow). Nature must take it's course. An acre shoud only produce what an acre can produce naturally. Old saying the worm will turn fallow ground once in seven years. Up the Banner especially the north burren.
