During the 1950s, racism was defined as excluding blacks from owning homes in the neighborhood where my parents lived. A social real estate effort was made to have a black family live in every block. This was supposed to eliminate racism. During the 1960s Martin Luther King, Jr. expanded the meaning of racism in my life. He claimed racism was one identifiable group of people considering themselves superior to another identifiable group of people. Slaves were a group of people in the United States with black skin. They became free in 1863 by the Emancipation Proclamation. However, MLK was leading Americans in 1963 because blacks were struggling to get the right to vote. Society was still treating some children of God as inferior. The government of Christian England treated the people of India as inferior, and Mahatma Gandhi challenged that government. In 1947 India became free. Treating these children of God as inferior was the sin. The Jews were treated as inferior people during the leadership of a political party in Christian Germany. In 1948 the state of Israel was created. When do I consider myself superior to another person? Gandhi and MLK taught to imbed love in the means to the ends of political activity, and this meant no physical violence, so that the community will love each other when the goals are achieved. "Do unto your neighbor as you would have your neighbor do unto you". Eliminating racism should follow this principle.

I hope the Church of Christ, will expand to include (1) all those who follow the Torah and the Prophets of the Old Testament, (2) all those who follow the Gospels and Letters of the New Testament, (3) all those who follow the teaching of the Quran after the Bible was cannonized, but will follow the guidance by the Holy Spirit in their current daily life.
