    I bought several iMACs just like this one and run them off external SSD's. Fast like new again. U don' have to go inside these iMACS to replace the hard drive. Too much works and not worth the time. Used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone to external SSD and boot off it. The only downside is u can't installed any apps and no longer accept updates. Its okay for browsing internet and youtube. Also great for FACETIME. These are the main reasons for getting these old iMACS. I can FACETIME my sister and mom every day. Feel like they are next door. Everyone in my family has an old iMAC specifically for this purpose. Plus they are great in kitchen while cooking up dishes.

    Incorrect: DNS is NOT the only way to resolve names to IPs! (Clue: Local host file!). There are a couple of FREE DNS services that protect your network from connecting to known bad sites/services. I’ll explain for you: A DNS Forwarder, simply re-sends the LAN DNS query, to a DNS Server. A Local DNS Server simply responds directly to the LAN DNS Query. If the info is not in its cache, it then queries the configured “root” DNS, delivers the info to the LAN client and adds it to its cache. But when you hear “I don’t know”, more than once, from the expert, you know you have to seek real expertise somewhere else.

    • @sherrilltechnology
      @sherrilltechnology 21 день назад

      So I went back and watched the video and I noticed that I did not mention the local host file in Windows but they are still DNS queries. The reason I said I do not know is that in PFsense's documentation they were showing to enable both the resolver and forwarder which you cannot do as the firewall will not allow you to do that, so how does a resolver work if it is not enabled that is what I do not know. Thanks so much for watching, and for correcting me!

    Hello, I have old laptop there is not ethernet port and dont have any ethernet to usb cable only have wifi on laptop to how to use proxmox in this laptop and use with my router, my router ip range is 192.168.20.xx but when i install proxmox on my laptop then show 192.168.100.1 so how to edit it or run with my routerr. Please can you help me. There is no way to connect network with my laptop using wire.

    • @sherrilltechnology
      @sherrilltechnology 22 дня назад

      Hello, there is a way you can make this work with your router actually 2 ways. 1. Create a static IP on the ProXMox server, to do this click on pve on the left side, next go to System-->Network, find the Linux Bridge whioch should be vmbr0 and then click the tab labeled "Edit." Change the IP to whatever you want just make sure it is not in the same range as your DHCP pool otherwise you might have IP address conflicts. I like to use the higher ranges for servers and the lower ranges for servers. So for instance I would have a DHCP pool of 192.168.1.100 through 192.168.1.200 and then I would have servers in the high 200s and the network equipment below 100, this ensures that nothing gets mixed up. 2. Find the MAC address of your laptop and add a reservation into DHCP. I hope this helps you and if you need me to do a video on this and I can do a quick one, also what type of laptop is it?

    • @debnathmriganka2010

      @@sherrilltechnology Thank you for your quick reply for helping me, but these two ways will be not working for me. because of that my situation is separted from your soluation, I am telling you more clearly again. I have a old laptop, there is no ethernet port, and i dont have any connector for ethernet to usb. and for example desktop pc is connected with router with wire connection my desktop pc ip is 192.168.29.100 this is connected with router and router is 192.168.29.1, but my laptop (have no any os installed) just installing promox with pendrive and in intwork page during instalation shows ip range is 192.168.100.2, because of that this is not connected with my router ( i cant connect with router because dont have ethernet and dont auto connect with wifi) in this situation how to connect wifi first then access proxmox, but you told me after login proxmox, but without same network i cant access promox.

    • @sherrilltechnology
      @sherrilltechnology 22 дня назад

      So technically you could use it for both, but you will want to have 2 seperate cards with 2 NVMe drives on each card, this ensures you have redundancy or least a form of it. I actually considered doing this in my server, I am just waiting for prices to come down on the 1TB drives. I am probably going to get either Team Force or Samsung. Maybe a PCIe card like this: www.amazon.com/Adapter-advanced-solution-Controller-Expansion/dp/B07JKH5VTL/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2LX2DVKFA4MRF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fKJFxUgm-C-cegdWTXP0PcVkROPnIk_ysWYx_TqQaPFnnlWhAuYDEU85cefE7K3MMsNArqqNYFhNX-tYdQ5XAv0fFDYmx1xNWUUp0C7gBf8DjDFEX62BBmnUyNlpYspsl5gRnHcoacAZlSJWZEaI1QFLtipCQgBWO4mvvW4uLoUP6Kz9Vqs3xHyACc4SBj0GtiwQP8Hn7_-F68ecBIkyjI3La89Gd6BAKqmVXZ3PEwE.f1YybzlUnVptq2dldMWsqnJ_uJI4kG7SgQrY36XM1ck&dib_tag=se&keywords=nvme+pcie+card+dual&qid=1725884842&sprefix=nvme+pcie+card+%2Caps%2C103&sr=8-3 I hope this helps

    All Arch based have a maintenance issue. Sure you can get it working pretty quick, but then getting it set up and working the way you need and keeping it that way takes some time. I have used Arch for a long time, till a game screwed up on Arch thanks to an update. I tried Debian after trying a couple of different Arch based distros, Nobara 40 and they all have the same issue with that game. In Debian is worked perfectly and all the games ran smoothly. I watched a video that showed that Mint was faster in some games, so I may try that on a separate drive.

      @@sherrilltechnology Just use flatpak for most apps, unless a system type app and Debian is pretty good. The Steam flatpak actually increases mesa to 24.1.1 which is a newer version that comes with Ubuntu or LinuxMint. Now with Arch you are on 24.3.x I have little time to play with the computer and game anymore because of work, family, and fixing up the house/cars so Debian just works as I can just boot, do what I want and not have to play around updating, etc.

    What I'd recommend is DumboFab Blu-ray Ripper. It is skilled in removing copy protections and making discs region free. With it, you can easily extract the content out of a Blu-ray (DVD) and save it in popular video format such as MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, etc which is readable by PC, external hard drive, portable devices and more. You can also make 1:1 Blu-ray copy to BDMV folder/M2TS/MKV losslessly and keep 100% original videos/audios/subtitles within only 5 mins.

    Don't know how this video ended up in my recommends, but nice to meets ya! Arch Linux user here and I fully endorse EndeavourOS as an alternative to Arch Linux for anyone who just doesn't have the time nor the inclination to DIY their entire system. EndeavourOS is Arch Linux. All packages are pulled directly from the official Arch Linux repositories. The only things that aren't are EndeavourOS specific tools and themes. Welcome to the Arch Linux ecosystem. Please enjoy your stay. I have tested EndeavourOS extensively and it is the only Arch Linux based distro I recommend to new users looking to dip their toe outside the usual Ubuntu or Debian based recommendations everyone always gets. It is superior to Manjaro in that no updates are held back for "testing". Once an update is live on the Arch repos, it's available for EndeavourOS users. This means updated AUR packages that expect new/updated dependencies won't break because those dependency updates aren't being held back.

Just specific things needing to stick to the 470 driver version, some linux distros like to install the 515 one, I can't use that. And Just specific issues to specific distros really. I'm not gonna bash em tho lmao BASH lol That what Linux is all about though. Finding the right distro and stability. And of course uninstall some of the bloat or things I don't need that it default installs.

    Arch isn't for everyone. Arch is better in the way that you create exactly what it is that you want. If you are complaining about how much time you have to invest . . . then you really should stick to mint. That isn't an insult, but each has their own positives and the positives of mint are . . . you don't have to try very hard. You can plug in your printer and use it . . . (unless its a canon lol) and you can install on your laptop and the wifi just works. So, yeah . . . good. Mint is better for people who just want to get on their computer and use the software. I still say if you want to switch someone from mac or windows that mint . . . not ubuntu should be the landing spot. The nomenclature not only in terms of vocabulary but layout is much closer than on ubuntu. Cinnamon looks and feels more like windows than Gnome. That being said, what i mentioned above . . . mint is terrible for the other types. I call people who use distros like arch or gentoo or even freebsd . . . the "back yard mechanics" of the computing world. We like to see if we can make this ford engine fit in that dodge truck with a chevy's transmission . . . . we like to know our file structure, we like to know EVERY process that is running. I have been on pure vanilla arch for about 2 years now . . . and although I still run mint on one of my laptops . . . I will never go back. The way I have arch set up at this point . . . i can reformat my system (minus download time) from an empty drive with about 15 minutes worth of work. Everything I do is mirrored to my secondary hd. Every package I personally install automatically gets logged in a package list I created . . . that i can just use as an install template. Every configuration file gets copied to the appropriate place using a python script I put together. Nobody else though uses a system quite like I do. If I am hooking up a non computer nerd friend with a free os just so they can get by, i put mint on their system and never hear any complaints about it . . . and that makes mint awesome. My arch setup doesn't look or feel like anything you have ever seen, and everything works . . . and that makes Arch awesome. There is no "better" here. It is about preference.

      Hello Arch for sure isn't for everyone, I have learned that there is a Linux Distro for everyone and whether that be Mint or Arch is depends on the person. I do agree that Mint is good if you just want to use the computer and software. I have noticed what you said in the second paragraph to be true, Mint is terrible for people who love Arch. 15 minutes is pretty good to get it back exactly where you want it! I like the part where you created a package list that you can use as an install template, that is very cool! It is about preference, there are things I like about Arch for sure. Do you have a RUclips channel about Arch? If so I would subscribe today! Thanks so much for watching!

      @@sherrilltechnology I made one youtube video about . . . tricks to making decent config files a few years back, I am pretty sure it was an i3 config. I am thinking of taking advantage of the rise of hyprland to redo that and other similar vidoes . . . although, not specifically arch. I like arch for about the same reason i like painting on a blank canvas. It only has what i paint and nothing more.

      @@sherrilltechnology oh, and, it is more than just a list . . . i wrote a script . . . every time i install a package, the package is added, every time i remove a package it is removed . . . i don't have to remember . . . it just asks me if i want to add or remove afterwards and i click yes or no.

    T-Mobile has slowly increased pricing on their legacy plans. AT&T has a huge plan to densify the network this coming year. Here in Texas, AT&T is solid plus they have an extensive fiber network.

      What is interesting is that T-Mobile has been pretty good so far in Colorado where I live. But AT&T was horrible not to say that they are not good somewhere else. Also with T-Mobile we have a price lock on what we have as well. I hope that AT&T does a good job of improving their services. Thanks so much for watching
