Bangers & Smash
Сингапур
Добавлен 28 мар 2010
Welcome to Bangers & Smash, the RUclips channel of a slightly strange British photographer living in Singapore. Uploading videos about cameras, Leica, 35mm and medium format film photography and a little bit of cycling so I don't get too fat. I’m trying to improve my editing and sound recording skills, all in the hope of one day making a film with my little Red Komodo.
Testing Canon K-35 Cinema Lenses
I had the chance to test out two Canon k-35 lenses recently and here is the footage from those tests. The footage was films on the original Red Komodo cinema camera and I had access to the 24mm and 35mm vintage Canon k35 lenses. I also had a rehoused Canon FD 14mm lens which was used for the shot in the fridge.
Shot on the Red Komodo with a BNCR lens adapter to use the original Canon housed K35 cinema lenses.

Field Recording in Singapore
Просмотров 107Год назад
Join us for some ambient field recordings in Singapore. I recorded the first sounds at Hindhede Quarry and Rifle Range Nature Park in the Bukit Timah area of Singapore. I didn't realise how popular these parks would be very early in the morning. Most of my field recordings ended up with too much human created noises in them. Hikers footsteps, leaf blowers from the park cleaners, vehicles from t...
Penang - A Weekend in Malaysia with a little Field Recording!
Просмотров 267Год назад
We recently spent a long weekend exploring the stunning island of Penang off the west coast of Malaysia. Good food, stunning beaches, wonderful scenery, what's not to like! I tried my best to do some field recording with the Zoom F3 and stereo cardioid microphone setup, with mixed results. In Georgetown, we saw amazing street art, ate hawker food and visited the famous clan jetties. The city is...

Testing Leica M Lenses on a Red Komodo
Просмотров 810Год назад
A quick fun video testing out using my Leica M 35mm Summicron f2 lens on the Red Komodo Cinema camera. I've been wanting to use small lenses like this for a while but have only just found a close focusing helicoid adapter from 7artisans. So far I'm impressed, it allows me to adapt my M mount Leica lenses to the RF mount of the Red Komodo 6k and Canon R5 camera and still be able to focus on clos...
Field Recording - Fighter Jets - Singapore NDP 2023

Today I tried my hand at field recording with two Rycote microphones recording in stereo. I was trying my best to capture the sounds of the Singapore Airforce as they provided the island with a wonderful display across the island. The display was part of the National Day Parade 2023 celebrations. The microphones used are 2 Rycote CA-08 pencil condensers in a orft configuration recording into a ...

Some initial impressions of the Canon RF 15-35mm F/2.8 L IS USM lens that I bought at Sim City in Hong Kong. This is just a quick look at my first impressions for vlogging and photography and is not a full on review of this amazing super wide zoom lens from Canon. RED KOMODO 6k: test footage on Leica R Lenses - Bali
Просмотров 1972 года назад
4K footage of Bali, Indonesia, shot during a holiday in 2022. All of the videos were filmed on Red Komodo and Leica R lenses, apart from the drone footage, which I filmed with a DJI Mini 2. Bali was still in recovery mode when we travelled there; however, it was still stunning and a great place to take a holiday. The lenses used are the 28mm Leica Elmarit-R F2.8 and a 50mm Leica Summicron-R F2....
Pentax to Release a New Film Camera?
Просмотров 2622 года назад
Pentax recently announced that they are looking at producing and releasing a new analogue film camera. Now I love film photography, especially my Pentax 67 medium format beast, but I think there's a bigger problem facing the analogue photography world and it's the lack of competition for colour film stocks, rather than the lack of new film cameras and this Pentax new film camera project. I also...
The Sounds of Tokyo: Field Recording with the Sony PCM-100D

With a Sony PCM-D100 portable stereo field recorder, we go field recording around Tokyo. With the sounds of Tokyo, one of the largest cities in the world, put on your headphones and you'll be transported. Having purchased the Sony PCM-D100 field recorder just before traveling to Japan, I am very impressed with the sound quality. This is something of a sonic journey through the bustling streets ...
RED KOMODO 6K: Test footage in Tokyo

Some test footage from my Red Komodo 6k cinema camera. This is from a trip to Tokyo back in October but I'm uploading it now as it makes a good comparison video to the recent Tokyo video I just posted that was filmed on a Canon R5. I've had the Red Komodo for a couple of year now and I love using it. Since travel reopened I have taken it on a couple of trips with me including Japan, Bali and Ge...

I’d love to see how the Komodo renders image with the summilux, awesome video though
Thanks 🙏, that’s a great suggestion, I’ll give it a go.
Underrated For the one reading Jesus loves you and will save you if you repent and believe on him, with full faith
We all know it’s not a Summilux… it’s a nice budget lens … end of the story… the thing with the Leica lenses they perform very well in critical light situations and in post I need to do minimal turns…
The ginger beard sign off caught me off guard 😂
Hey man, great video! I have a question about the external finder. Firstly, which one are you using? Also, how are you focusing your shots by looking through it? Do you nail your focus through the original finder, and then frame with the external?
Continuity error = @4:41
If you like Safari edition, I would argue that Type240 Safari is a better looking camera. Which I own! All subjective.
Hi, this is Non AI version? Thanks
hey wich adapter do you use to point leica m ?
Some lenses were made in Canada in the 1970s are sold for $50 K USD today. What’s the problem ? Know how have no territories.
Sounds great 👍🏻 😅
Those colors...the microcontrast eventhough at 1.2. Real cinematic stuff!
Nice. Just getting into Leica and looking to make sense of the Len price. Yes I have the original Komodo and wanting to use it more for small pieces.
It’s a spectacular lens for the money.
Is this the new Yakuza game on ps5? ;)
Amazing 😊
Awesome, I also selected a condenser mic
Never had any TTArtisan M-Mount lenses, but I did try several of their M43 lenses along with several 7Artisans M43 lenses. The main difference between the two is that TTArtisans lenses had clickable aperture rings and 7Artisans had click less aperture rings favored by videographers. All of these lenses are built in the same no name Chinese lens factory owned by Pergear. All of the lenses I had produced images that were decent in the center but usually suffered from vignetting, plus color fringing, softness, and CA along the edges. Also had to send several lenses back because quality control was obviously not a priority back at the lens factory.
Great video! I asked my kickboxing gym if i could take pictures at the upcoming event. Feel a little nervous, especially bc I have high expectations towards myself. I only have an APS-C Sony a6400 and hope the lighting will be good enough. Bought myself a 18-50mm f2.8 for the occasion but I will bring my 35mm 1.8 too, just in case.
I guess this is my personal taste speaking.. needs some saturation and contrast. Footage looks like log footage. But shots are great
Awesome images! Is this nikkor 55 1.2 SC version?
Foods supposod to humans
That’s cool
EWWWWW

Ha ha. Yes sir 👻
you can try coming to Hougang area. fighter jets taking off, landing are everyday affairs
Cheers, I haven’t explored that area yet, will add it to the list 👍
Which part of hougang?
@@nelsonaw5512 can catch planes landing while passing over your head or taking off in the distance, at the grass patch outside Hougang MRT
Nice stuff, just to clarify, the PCM-D100 max recording is 192/24... not 92. I love mine and do think for field recording it is a gem.
Great footage! Sound via PCM-D100 or …?
Sound on this is a combo of the Canon R5 in cam mic and the Sennheiser MKE 400 - was a little lazy on this trip sound wise
Several of the things you mention are concepts that are in my mind and I'm trying to validate them but I don't have the experience that you have. Thank you for sharing these notions with your words, it help me to validate them through yours. Thanks bro!.
Scary thunderstorm ⛈️😨
To Much Manousha
great video, the wobble is from the ibis in the body of the camera not the lens itself. you'll notice it doesn't occur on your red..
sir, your work is amazing
Thanks. Really nice recordings. The PCM-D100 is a great device for sure. Still can't believe nobody has even matched it for quality after all these years.
Just scooped one up from ebay! Cannot wait to try it out!!
This looks amazing! and lives up to the quintessential cinematic style was planning to get myself a vintage nikkor lens for a modern camera, what adapter are you using with the canon r5 setup?
Thanks! The adapter is just a cheap one they had in the same shop that I bought the lens from in Tokyo. K&F Concept Nik (G) - EOS R.
this is awesome 🙌
Thank you 🙏
@@bangsmash have a fantastic week🔥
I think the push for Pentax to re-release newly designed film cameras, or refresh original designs with more durable engineering and modern updates to the pentaprism and viewfinder will cause the industry to re-release film chemistry and film products form other viable players like Ilford and FujiFilm. In my 40 years of photography, I still have film cameras that still work, (but agree with you that they are time bombs, waiting to break down) and I have digital SLRs from the eras or 2006 onto the present that I really dont need any further updating. My current digital bodies will perform and produce what I need and I have no need for upgrades, but I had become quite nostalgic for the artistic process of photography, shooting on B&W and developing my own negatives and contact sheets. I know the there are several older photographers who miss the artistic analog process and would still invest in the "Art process" Interestingly enough the balance of young enthusiasts and old school farts are making headway for demand and I believe the camera and film manufacturers are noticing. Either way, if pentax does a refresh of one of their Classic LX bodies, I would gladly invest.
Shame Sony stopped making them. That audio recorder seems like a great bit of kit to have in the bag.
No images! Tired of all the merits! One hard knock and viewfinder is toast.
Hong Kong looks amazing
Cool 😎
Hong Kong is open again! I heard that one of the Leica shops in Sim City was burgled recently.
Yeah I saw that news on Leica Rumours. It was M&K Kamera which is towards the end of the Sim City part of the video. It’s terrible, that shop has lots of nice Leica lenses and cameras, well it did. Unfortunately this type of thing is becoming increasingly common but if still unusual for Hong Kong. I believe M&K Kamera have posted serial numbers of the Leica gear that was taken and people should keep an eye out for them when buying second hand.
Getting drunk in Tokyo looks like a lot of fun. Getting way better at vlogging. I need to come to Japan next time.
Thanks 🙏
When are you going to make a horror film!!! Great look on that Nikki lens bro.
That lens looks great. Thanks for the video. I hope to own one when canon reduce the prices of the 15-35mm lens or release budget friendly options.
