Well everyday is a school day, and figuring out what fits where is half the battle.....here we have a 14x6 et49 Vauxhall Senator Ronal alloy, front section is the rear of a mk1 Granada Ronal Kleeblatt, that will then have a 15" section of an Opel Ascona Ronal added to the edge of that... All run and games

Wow! that conversion is not for the faint of heart!! but the final result is impeccable! such a great and unique wheel.
looks great! i bet you're the one to talk to in order to get my dream set of rims for my Manta, which is a set of original oem alloys but specced to 8x15
@@boerharms2209 all started with me wanting a dream set of wheels for my mk1 granada, so I can't see why not
@boerharms2209 also you should look at my 7x16 manta alloys
Great work Ive a set of 7 spoke RS wheels on my Capri and always wanted to make them wider to let me keep them for when I fit the X pack body kit
@@stevo5222 13s or 14s would go out nicely to 15", or 15s out to 16, or 16s out to 17s
@the_bearded_backyard_engineer was thinking about making them wider ie 7j to 9 or even 10j
@@stevo5222 could do, but you won't get tyres off
@@the_bearded_backyard_engineer Oh! Why's that? Pretty sure you can get 265/35 15 tyres Banding is the word I'm looking for, if it's possible with alloy wheels
@stevo5222 you'd have to watch more of my videos to understand why you can't just ""band"" certain alloys....hence why if you wanted 15s, you'd have to start with either 13s or 14s
Lots of work will look good love watching your videos
@@robmeneice5060 and I love making them
i have a mk2 escort and i was wanting to widening 5.5x13 Ghia alloys to 7x13 to the front face using back face sections from other alloys , would you think this could be done ?
@@fatpeter-u8t possible, adding 1.5" to the front might give you tyre fitment issues, especially if you are fitting low profiles, but not the end of the world

@howardmoss2374 what could D.S.Leg stand for? David Stanley? Donald Stuart? Derrick Stanwell? The combinations could be nigh on limitless
@@the_bearded_backyard_engineer You are of course 100% correct and to be honest I think in retrospect that it would be quite odd to use a civilian job title or rank as a prefix in that way. Soon after I posted my smart remark I started to realise that it was a bit silly. Oops. No offence intended. Just an attempt at humour. Kind regards, Howard.

Didn't know you had a dolomite. I've a two door toledo shell in the garage, it would've looked nice with a dolomite front. It'll be getting sold this year as I've done nowt with it.
"I'll take the fine " then didn't pay😂😂😂 👍
Love stories like this. As you said we all have a book inside us.
I love this sort of stuff. Ya don't fancy welding me rangey do ya😂😂😂
@phillmcaverty I want my days of welding rusty old chod to be behind me...got the Bwanada to get back on the road, my pick up, a dolomite to go over a 120d, this F1 to finish, then possibly the Minor COE to build, and on top of that, just bought a 405 estate, that failed the mot yesterday on inner and outer rear sills
Push the wires through fire rope for stove doors
Any chance you could flex that asking price way down? Been watching your add om fb for a while but I couldnt get anywhere near 23k. Youd still see it everyday 😁
@ricardosmythe2548 not my car, and I doubt he'd take less, he doesn't actually need to sell it
This is cool. Could go from 13s to 15s and wider on 70s celica. Will be steel so it can be done with less expensive equipment. Course you want to test your welds etc. take all the precautions before rolling out with them.
@Bawkr sorry no, I've tried steels before, and they are way to much hassle to get true....aluminuim wheels have a thickness where they fit together like lego, where as steels, that ain't even usually totally round straight out of the bat, it's almost impossible to line them up 100% true
@@the_bearded_backyard_engineer I'm going to give it a shot but I'll follow the steel videos on it. Course for the 13 to 15 part I will have to improvise as I only see widening done but I do know that people have liped these wheels however it was probably a business that does it often.
@Bawkr OK, what you are going to have to do is take your 13" wheel, and cut it off just above the slopping angle, then take your 15" wheel and cut it off just below the sloping angle, then chuck the wheel on your lathe, and turn your cut into true, then put your 15" section onto your faceplate, and bore it so the ID is the same as the new OD on your wheel, then somehow line your 2 pieces together and weld your new join.....then repeat for the rear section. Once you have your 3 pieces together you can then decide how and where to ""band" to get the ET and the width you want

Hi are you still using the same email address?
Yes
Have you tried running the voltage down to zero and reverse charging the polarity? Seen a guy do this and it worked. You just have to remember positive will be negative after it's charged
I once accidentally charged a battery in reverse....it read a full 12.58v, but had next to zero ampage
@the_bearded_backyard_engineer I don't think the video I watched proved it would do anything, he just showed a voltage. He might not have known. Once they're shagged they're usually shagged. I've tried bataid tablets with varying results. There's a chemical, I can't remember the name of it something like bdca that I think is in its make up. I tried finding some in the labs but they don't have it. Cheers for the reply

Gas would be cheaper and would work. This thing melting anything ? It might fry chips
Melted up 16 litres of molten ally tonight, a bottle of gas is currently £97 and ive priced it that its taken me £3 worth of electric....so i can do 15 melts of this size with propane out of a bottle, or 15 melts for £45 of electric.....and this is silent, where as a running the propane forge is like a hurricane jet engine.....thanks for your concern though, and enjoy your cold chips
@@the_bearded_backyard_engineer Gas is cheaper than electric by about 5 times or more and bottled gas is the most expensive way to buy it. you did not melt 16 L of ally with that thing. I new I would get a hostile comment back. That thing is only 3 kw you said. That is a house heater or electric kettle power. You claim you use £3 of electric and it would have been £97 using bottled gas, that is ridicules. I estimate according to you calculations of power and electric at 35 p per kwh you melted 16L of ally in 3 hours with 3 kw of power with that thing you got there. I don't think so but ? you showed what looked like steel plates you where going to cast, 8 kg of steel in one melt with the power of a kettle. I don't know exactly all the details but its all looking a bit suspect at the moment, that's all .
@@billcogneeto7286 look at the latest video, thats 8" deep by 7" wide, believe what you want
Do you know the resistnace on the element coil wire? Folding the wire and doubling the element wire for a few inches close to the wire junctions will stop it from heating as much in the doubled seciton and thus, wont melt your wires. If youre just running it on mains, you will need to shorten the element to get the full temperatuure out of it. The supply voltage divided by It's resistnace in ohms will tell you the number of AMPS wiich can give you an understnading of heat potential. For such an open top, mildly insullated vessel, you need 40-60 amps of current to effectivly heat it past 1000C. Hope that helps.
Melting up just fine, on my doing my second pour of a negative mold now.....didnt have enough in the first pour...ill add a video later tonight
And its not open top, the top is covered

Put some insulation back onto the glass after you unplug it. Helps it cool down slower and more evenly, less chance of it shattering.

@@the_bearded_backyard_engineer nice man, thanks. Ive got a project similar, but ive gotten stumped on the ally to use. Making 15" faces fit 17" barrels.
Did you found what caused the issue ?
You mean apart from it ingesting a litre of water through the intake?
Wow how is it possible ? Where was the issue
No innet wings, no filter cover, 2" deep puddle

You need more venting, that shop could explode from the fumes! Once the lead plates are worn the battery cant be saved. You can try draining and filling with epson salt to make a cheap deap cycle, but sadly its most likely got a dead cell.
It has.....its leveled out at 11.79v......so fine for an led lighting circuit
I've seen a few videos trying to revive batteries. Hope this works. I've seen people replace electrolyte with Epsom salt or add it, can't remember, was a while ago. I've had success over 20 years ago with batt aid tablets. This worked with a slow charge and started the car but if it didn't start straight away you could hear the battery giving up. Keep making videos👍
I used run a 2.8I with the S pack in the late 80's. The tyres were getting really pricey so I would buy up every set of wheels and tyres I could get my hands on to keep on the road. At that time the 2.8I. was worth about the same as 3 new metric tyres. I was happy to get a set with a few 1000 miles left in them. One night I got pulled by the Police, they went straight to the wheels and checked the tread. Mine were all legal and they looked very disappointed. He said "these always have bald tyres, your tyres must be worth more than the car!" I said "remember me, I'm the one with tread on their tyres so look somewhere else". When the tyres were bald I'd saw them off and get a few quid back at the local metal reclaimers.
Now all the used tyres are as hard as a coffin nail
Best time of the year for doing it and using the spare heat to warm the garage👍
