AlpenFury Construction Update #10 | TRACK and Mountain Work | Canada’s Wonderland | Thrill Warrior
Went to go see the track on site for AlpenFury for myself yesterday. The colours look amazing in person. Lots of work starting to happen on Xtreme's plot of land where the SkyFlyer Loop will go. Also some work happening inside the mountain for the launch and the pull up into the Double Inverting Top Hat!

A huge thank you to Peter Switzer and Grace Peacock for taking the time to answer some questions about AlpenFury in an interview with me. Peter dives into detail talking about the unique elements, station set up and ride technicalities and Grace talks about the theme and backstory of AlpenFury. There are definitely some important things to take note of in these interviews.

AlpenFury Capacity Breakdown | Canada’s Wonderland | Thrill Warrior

A lot of people are very excited for AlpenFury however their only major concern with the coaster is its capacity. The ride will run with two, 18 passenger train which is seemingly low capacity for a park like Canada’s Wonderland that is extremely busy. I think capacity won't be as strong as coasters like Behemoth, Leviathan and Yukon Striker, but AlpenFury will still be able to hold its own bas...

Wow!
These sounds are why I love B&M, also that was a great dispatch!
@@Daniel_Coasters so do I!!!
Damn-
Holy 😮
What a vibe bro
May sound dumb here but what is a one trim dispatch, I’ve never heard of it
No worries dude. A “Trim 1 Dispatch” is a term I created. It’s when Behemoth crew dispatches the train in the station while the train ahead is going over the trim 1 floater hill after the hammerhead turnaround
@@thrillwarrior oh ok got ir
@@AirplanesAndAirtime I could nerd out abt it all day lol
@@thrillwarrior you sound like me in math class
Trim 1 dispatch is great!
Insane❤❤❤❤❤
What's insane about it? Typical dispatch..
@yukonstriker1703 this is not typical Behemoth crew. This is really fast compared to how fast they usually go. In the past the dispatches used to be consistently like this
@@thrillwarrior but people are already locked and loaded. Not like we saw the removal of guests on the first train . Train is already loaded when your vid starts , 😲
Vest, over the shoulder plus seat belt.. Yea Yukon ops are best
Yes and? Did u want to watch the whole thing? 😂 I only recorded the actual dispatch itself and u can visually tell it is fast because the train ahead of it swoops over the water as the train being dispatched exits the station. As a former Behemoth op myself I can confirm this is at least a 92sec dispatch. The crew was on track for 39 cycles or abt 1248rph if they kept up this pace. (They told me after the hour was up they ended up getting 33 cycles. Still solid)
Great job on this video! Love seeing different perspectives on the same tour and your video definitely helped with writing some captions for my video with some of the things Brent said! What a phenomenal experience! we all got to have thanks to the park! 😊
Thank you! 😊
Great update, thank you. I’m with you about the trees 😢 but Wonderland is pretty good with amount of trees in the park. Track looks fantastic and is going to look amazing when it’s installed. Hoping they’ll be successful with theming for tunnel🤞
I’ve talked with with higher ups at the park and they said the tunnel to surround the launch track is in the works. Very exciting! Wonderland will do an amazing job at making the surrounding area look great!
Great job with the interviews! Peter's explanation of trying to make sure everyone removes all loose articles for the bin system has me thinking there will be metal detectors in the station area. It's going to be very interesting to see how that works out, and I'm absolutely thrilled the park is so keen on going without lockers while still trying to keep the visuals of/on AlpenFury free of nets as much as possible!
Yea i definitely think there will be metal detectors and maybe after guests put their loose articles in the over head bins they will be pregrouped
4:21 Katun's roar is one of my favs definitely. Katun itself is such a good ride I cannot put into words how much I love it
I talked to Brent about the trees during the tour (because of course I did 😆). He said "A lot of the tree coverage, the beautiful trees that we have, are going to end up going away because they conflict with the ride. [...] It's gotta get ugly before it gets better. So we'll take them away, but we'll repopulate with some nice trees and landscaping." When I saw him again later in the day, he said something about new trees behind the mountain being more height-appropriate for the coaster. I think that means they'll either be a type that doesn't grow tall enough to interfere, or can at least be trimmed down as needed (like the ones around Shockwave). It won't be the same, but I'm always glad the park makes such an effort to maintain the natural beauty of the park. 😊 Great video! Looking forward to seeing AlpenFury's track and supports for myself in a couple days! 😃
That’s good to hear. I think their landscaping is gonna be incredible. And also the buildings in the area r gonna look sick! Timberkits 🙏🏼
Sacrificing the trees for our sins.

Thanks for the update, did anyone ask how the train is going to go from the storage track to the station. Are they going to have a separate piece of track going from the station to the storage area or us the launch to move the trains into the station?

Benefits of being old, but I remember the days when everyone used to be allowed to walk up to that upper level of the mountain. You used to be able to look out in every direction. It's been closed to the public since Thunder Run was moved inside the mountain, and that was only a few years after the park opened. The pathway to the top can still be seen on Google maps along the south and west sides, with the entrance at ground level being just around the corner from the south side of the waterfalls (it's been blocked off by "rocks", but you can still tell that it used to be the entrance right to this day).
@@debestcanadian I wish it were still open to the public but I can understand y it’s not anymore. That mountain is a busy place.

It was amazing. Glad I was able to record this
The problem with your analysis about capacity is that you are talking about the theoretical speed that the trains could dispatch entirely on sensors and blockzones and how fast the trains get around the course. But you are completely ignoring a factor which makes this theoretical cycle time irrelevant. This factor is the time required for unboarding and boarding of riders. Here's the actual realistic calculation: - Train starts moving through to train comes to stop: 80 seconds - Riders unload and new riders load: 40 seconds (at best) = 120 seconds (2 min) per cycle per train = 30 cycles per hour per train (at best) ×2 trains = 60 cycles per hour (at best) ×18 riders per cycle (at best) = a theoretical maximum of 1080 riders per hour, MUCH lower than your prediction. However, even 1080/hour is completely unrealistic, given this assumes perfectly executed station operations every single time to hit that number of cycles per hour, and also assumes 100% seats filled. Even if the staff is excellent, you know that there will always be delays caused by the design of the Premier trains, and by lots of slow / oversize / obstinate / stupid guests. Plus there will always be some empty seats. Therefore, a realistic capacity for this ride is 750-800 per hour, which is roughly half of Leviathan. To make things worse, this will be the new coaster in one of the most over-crowded amusement parks in North America. The wait times in the first couple of years will be 90 minutes minimum, and I promise most of the time will be well over 2 hours. And to further make things even worse, if you look at the station location, there's not any place to put a large queue area for riders waiting. The line is absolutely going to spill far out into the midway, and regardless of the direction the staff tries to force it to go., it's going to get in the way of access to other nearby rides and general circulation.
Yess
canadas wonderland is real?????
👀 it is?
Best CW content. Tell them to re pave and paint the parking lot.
Vortex is a great ride. A favorite.
Vortex definitely seems like a coaster that wonderland wants to keep and take care of for many years
That thing sounds like it needs some TLC
@@rianhede8863 its actually in great shape. The brakes are strong and so is the lift gear!
I have only been to Carowinds And Kings Island, but here is my rankings 1. Fury 325 2. Orion 3. Mystic Timbers 4. Diamondback 5 Copperhead strike 6 Thunder Striker 7. Banshee 8. Afterburn 9 The beast 10. The Flying Cobras
Cobras looks underrated
Tbh I agree lol
Well done! I’ve been thinking 60 second dispatch intervals, but a proxy sensor could definitely boost that a bit! I also think using launch one as a holding brake could be possible, meaning train one can launch as soon as train two enters the brake run (block). By the time train one reaches launch two, train two (which will never have had to come to a /complete/ stop) will have cleared the brake run and should be in final. So it’s really about how fast the trains move through the brake run and station blocks. That’s why this setup with four blocks is so good! Compare that with Vortex which has a similar cycle time but a nearly two-minute dispatch interval because even with a proxy sensor, the trains can’t clear the station and brake run blocks any faster. And yet that line still moves quickly with only ~720-840 pph! Vortex also has no seatbelts or platform bins, which helps keep things moving. I’m thinking the same for AlpenFury, with another bin conveyor for loose articles like Guardian and Yukon Striker. (Please no lockers….) Regardless, the line should move really well with very little time stuck in any one part of the queue, which makes a huge difference to the guest experience! *btw, according to the park, it’s only the most inversions on any LAUNCH coaster in NA. Very important distinction.
Also let’s not forget there could be a lot of people who say “AlpenFury looks too intense for me,” keeping the line a little shorter than some of the other more popular rides. 😆
@@WonderlandWeekly The problem is compounded by people that take their sweet ass time putting their stuff away. The lollygagging tonight at Levi was brutal. People don't understand that timer is there for a reason. I assume that Alpenfury will have the Yukon like bin system which will help, but people need to have a sense of urgency when embarking and disembarking a coaster.
