Thanks for the video. Please tell me how much glitter you add
What are you tips for decorating crochet hooks with the actual hook already and adding the resin? Should I use pen molds and put the hook inside and add the resin with my glitter or different decoration stuff inside? A video on decorating with the actual hooks already would be nice! Thanks
ugly claws 😬😬
That is awesome... I love these, and PINK is my favorite color... Thank you...
Just found your channel, so far your the only one that takes you thru the process. Very well done.
Hello you don't have to wait for the paint to dry before you remove the extra paint you just paint the letters or your design and you can wipe the wet paint off it's easier
How much resin did you need to make the set of crochet hooks
That’s a great question. I want to say between 50-60ml total. It’s been a while since I have made a set.
@@backcountrycustomcreations448thank you. I wish resin molds would come with this information when purchased.
its so difficult to find a flat piece of lumber... then why use lumber as your flat surface?
great tutorial though! I have that same pink cutting mat so I could use that :)
It’s just what I had laying around. I’ve since gotten an old cookie sheet to use.
you can not use these because they are flimsy and bend. At least mine were. I thought they were lovely but unfortunately when I went to use the smaller one bent a lot. Can you do a follow up video plz. Thank you so much for this video
Oh no I’m so sorry. Mine have all done great. Not sure what resin you have on hand but one that cures harder may work much better.
if put the epoxy resin instead of uv resin, does it mix wif hardener as well? how to make it hard enough to crochet? any ways can fix if not hard enough? thanksss
I just came across this video and I was intrigued by your experiment. I think if you were to try it again, pink or purple are really pretty.
Thank you for showing this I have a heck of a time getting the air bubbles from the hook I love making them but get so mad each time. My resin is a thicker style so not a runny one may have to change a bit. You didn’t show your sanding them down and hat do you use? I have many different grit but wanted to see someone else do theirs. Ps LOVE this colour
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Counter Culture DIY has an amazing thin viscosity Artist resin. It is perfect for molds. All you have to do to release the air bubbles is use a pipette tip or toothpick. Makes doing anything with molds so much easier. For sanding I use 60, 80, and 120 grit, sometimes I even go to 220. The sanding just depends on how rough the piece is. I both sand by hand and use my dremel tool.
Also for sanding I use a deburring tool and that helps tremendously. See my second video for more tips!!
I have researched making resin hooks and most of videos seems so easy and I made a few and had so many ridges and sanding didn’t help after watching your video. I bought the deburring tool and it’s amazing. My only problem now is getting shine back. Thank you so much
I’m so glad that tool has helped you. To get the shine back you can use a super thin layer of UV resin or a super thin (barely any on a gloved finger kind of thin) layer of epoxy. Once it’s dry it’ll all be shined back up. You could also use a buffing cream and that may work as well.
@@backcountrycustomcreations448 Thank you 🥰🥰
First video of yours I’ve seen and absolutely love it.
Thank you
Love it so pretty
Thank you I’m so glad you do
Do you spray the molds with vegetable oil to let the hooks ease out of the mold easier? Where did you find your kit? Etsy has the hook molds but someone said that the molds break after the 1st time
Sorry for delay in response I’ve been in the hospital. I do not spray my molds with anything, but you could use mold release. I’ve not had an issue with mine demolding. I got my molds from Amazon. Let me know if there any other questions.
Thank you for responding.I hope you are well. Thank you for your help.
Thank you!
I was asked why I didn't make my own hooks because fancy hooks are expensive. Well I don't know but I want ergonomic for my carpal tunnel. I like these hooks you just made they're pretty
Awe thank you!
You are awesome!!! :-) :-)
Thanks!
Beautiful tumbler~ Great video and lots of information. Thank you!
You’re welcome and thank you!
What about sanding the excess off? Do you have a video on that part?
I don’t really sand much I use a deburring tool and cut the excess. I’ll sand just a bit too smooth after using the deburring tool.
What type of resin do you recommend? Great video!
I personally love Counter Culture DIY Artist Resin. For these molds thin viscosity.
This was so interesting, the hooks look beautiful. I have a problem with my hands, but they might work, And I would love to try, Kind regards Pat in London
Thank you, I’ll say a prayer for you and your hands.
Beautiful
Awe thank you!
What is the name of the item that you filled the molds with?
I use Counter Culture DIY Artist Resin. It is epoxy resin.
How do you get rid of notch on the back of the hook? You didn't sand it away or anything 🤔
I have another video up that is kind of like a part two. I use a deburring tool and resin.
THANK YOU for your two very informative videos! I'd recently learned of making epoxy resin crochet hooks and want to make them to add to my very small, very new Etsy shop! I already have a cart full from your site of gorgeous dyes and glitters. <3 Questions: How easy is a deburring tool to use for someone who has never used (or even heard of) one before? Have you ever accidentally sliced off a dent into the crochet hook? I was thinking sanding would be easier. Can resin be sanded by hand with sandpaper sheets or would that take an eternity to do?
They are way to use. Just go slow. I’ve not took a chunk out of my project but I have my finger. I was going to fast and wasn’t bracing with my thumb. If you get one just go slow.
Beautiful!😁💜🧶
Thank you!
This is very interesting. Would love to learn how to make these.
There is an original video to. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you so much for this video! I was having a hard time with finishing them because I had to sand. This was extremely helpful ❤
You’re welcome, please let me know if you ever have other questions I’ll try to help.
I don't know why I didn't get a notification when you posted this, but I'm absolutely thrilled to say it answered all of my questions and now I have bonus knowledge about that deburring tool (and I'm definitely buying one!) Thanks so much!
You’re very welcome!
Hello 👋🏼 I went to your Etsy shop but I couldn’t find any crochet hooks. Are you still making them every now and then?
Yes, I’m out at the moment but you can message me and I’ll put a custom order together for you.
hello, I watched your video a few times! I wanted to be sure to fill my molds well. but I would like to know how you managed to fill the 3mm hook. it's very small and the resin has a hard time going to the bottom of the hook
I had to wiggle and twist the pipette to push out that air bubble.
@@backcountrycustomcreations448 OK, thanks! I also suppose that with dark colors we can better see if there are any air bubbles. I will try next time
Correct as the lighter colors blend with the color of the mold. When I did my dark pink ones I could see just fine but then I did coral and those were more challenging.
Very pretty
Thank you!
Love it
Thank you
Just came across your channel this morning. Love how you explain everything
Awe thank you 💕
Love this! Thank you! And thanks for the part 2 showing how you got rid of the excess on the back!
You’re welcome!
Where can I find part 2?
Yesss. I loooove my deburring tool for my resin projects!
Yes!!
My hooks came out bendy but some other things I poured from the same batch came out hard ???? I see a lot of reviews for resin hooks that say they are bendy too. thoughts ??? suggestions ???
It’s the thickness of which they are. The thicker the pour the longer they need to cure. Some resin gets hard faster than others. A casting resin would work really well too.
I want to order those little plaidder thingies, is it a digital file that I get a template to cut, or are they already cut and they come in already to use? I did read the description but I’m still confused on it
They are acrylic pieces that will be mailed to you.
Thank you for sharing , will you be doing another giveaway? 🙋♀️
You’re welcome. I do plan on doing more giveaways in the future.
So beautiful...love this!
Thank you
Beautiful cup!
Thank you!
Great tutorial!
Thank you!
Just ordered my set, can't wait to make my mother and I a few sets. New subby
That’s awesome!! I hope you enjoy them.
Love the hooks. Nice job. You make them look easy.
Thank you
Thank you a thousand times
You’re welcome
They are beautiful. I wonder how they work?
I’ve only used one of the larger ones so far and it worked great.
Great video! And I LOVED the scripture at the beginning! I do have a question. I have a Sawgrass, I thought that sublim had to be on high poly count. So I've been using easysubli to be able to use dark colors, or bleach. I messed up countless shirts trying to get them to bleach and then my grandmother says oh well polyester doesn't bleach. LOL oh ok. So, how in the world are you sublimating on a poly count AND bleaching but not using easy subli? Please oh wise one help me!
Thank you for the sweet words. I’m glad you liked the scripture! Sublimation is always best on 100% polyester, it will always be brighter for sure. However, you can sublimate on lower counts (I stay higher than 50%). Grandma is right polyester won’t bleach which is why you have to have a blend with cotton. It is the cotton in the shirt that is allowing the bleach.I generally get a shirt with around 65% poly (for subbing) and 35% cotton (for bleaching). Also it’s usually the Heather colors that have the correct fiber counts. I will also warn that not all colors will bleach white 😂 learned that the hard way. Also when you do this be sure not to leave the bleach on too long or your bleach area will be super see through. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
@@backcountrycustomcreations448 thank you so very much!!!!
You’re very welcome.
