Dash removal of 1996 Geo Metro
I decided that my Metro needed a new heater core. The first step was to remove the dash and I thought I’d record it and share. I’m not a mechanic, and I’m only sharing my experience of removing the dash from my Geo following the steps found in the GM service manual. I hope that the video at least gives you an idea of what you may encounter if you decide to remove the dash in your Geo Metro. I also share how I remove glove box, remove Power Control Module (PCM), remove shifter console, ashtray, cupholders, radio and bezel, remove heater controls and cover, repair fan switch, remove steering column, disconnect speedometer cable, remove instrument panel, remove passenger airbag, remove of da...

This is a step-by-step video detailing how we removed and replaced the radiators and hoses on my dad’s 4th Generation Honda Goldwing (Gold Wing) Trike but could also work for a motorcycle as well. His bike had a leak somewhere within the radiators or the hoses. Because of the fairing and how much stuff is packed into it, it is pretty much impossible to diagnose without taking everything apart. ...

Nice work! Job well done
If mine was atuck on I wouldn't touch it. But it's stuck OFF. Won't stay in the on position. Think I'd rather just jump the wires so it just stays on.
Why my gl1500 has an extra hose on the right radiator 😢😢
My 2005 has the same problem. I will follow your guide and do mine. THX!
Thanks for watching. Good luck with the repair!
Hello Bryan just saw your video with your dads Bagit rear suspension change that was great . The assembly looks the same for my 1990 Marksland conversion I think i am going to give it a try . Thanks you guys are great
Glad the video was helpful and you found it interesting. Ride safe!
The lcd screen was gone on my goldwing 1500 when i bough it , the bike is a 2000 se model mint condition with 30k mls , i thought i would get it repaired in my usual motor cycle garage, did not want to do it kept saying we will get back to you never did ,tried anothrr 2 dealers near me they did not want to get envolved, enyway found your vidio, thought i would have a go myself, i got it done in 3 days as there was no rushing to get it fin , i am 82yr old and plenty of tea breals, without your vidio i would never attenpeted this job , anyway working great now only thanks to you for this great vidio, you are an expert witout any doubt, Thanks and regards John.
Hi John, thank you for the great message. It’s folks like you that make it worth it for putting in the effort and hours to do these videos. I’m glad it gave you the confidence to attempt it yourself. Nice work. Now go put some miles on that thing. Ride safe!!
Hello again Brian I found out markland used a 9 inch Ford rear end used by late 80+ rangers ,found all brake parts and wheel cylinders. On another note have any idea where this green labeled hose goes? 8:06
That’s great news on your research and finding all the brake parts. As for the green labeled hose, I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to. We haven’t done any work on the rear end, but happy to help try and figure it out if you’re able to provide a little more info.
This is a good video to show most of this job. However with this current camera angle you do not show how to disconnect throttle cables. If you actually show this step then I would say this is the best video to walk people through the procedure. I just completed removing my cruise set switch to clean the contacts so it will set properly every time instead of just sometimes. Road test will verify this was my problem. I looked up to see if anybody else had similar complaint and found your video. Everybody wants to blame clutch lever bushings for cruise not setting but that is definitely not my problem.
Thank you for sharing your experience and for the feedback on the video. I do agree the content for the throttle cable is not very helpful. This video was a last minute after thought so nothing was really planned out for how to shoot different angles. Although, I’m still glad I’ve posted it as it has helped many folks like yourself. Again, thank you for the comment and hope all goes well on your road test. Ride safe!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching.
The problem is to take the speedometer cable out you have to do almost the same thing as you did I have three bikes 2 Harley’s and a 93 Goldwing trike and this is the first GW and it will be my last everything you do you have to take half the bike apart but great video
Thanks for the comment. Yes seems like every time it needs something or you want to check something, a bunch of the front fairing or something needs to come off. We’re getting pretty good at it now. 😆 glad you found the video and hope it was helpful. Ride safe!!
Good job! The curise and the mute buttons were both stuck on on my bike also but I didn't go to the extream you did I just took my contact cleaner sprayed in between the buttons worked them untill they came loose and now they work. For how long I don't know but if they get stuck again I will haft to do what you did to fix it permanently so your video will guide me. Thanks for doing it first.
Thank you for sharing. Would be awesome if you don’t have to take it apart. Appreciate the comment. Ride safe!!
Thanks for the video And the excellent detail , I got a leaking heater core on a 99 Metro.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching. Hope all goes well.
WOW! $129 for a replacement LCD?! And another $60 for 5 194's?! At least it comes with vaseline FFS!!
We were happy that a company took it upon themselves to recreate them and still make them available for us. Ride safe.
Hey Brian I have a 1990 gl1500 markland trike any idea where I can get shoes and wheel cylinders for it ?
Hi James. We often times use Cycle Parts Nation. I like it as a first stop because they show the detailed drawings of each portion broke down so it's easier to see and understand. Here's the link: www.cyclepartsnation.com Just follow the link on the website to Honda, then motorcycle, then 1990, then pick your model (looks like there are 4 different GL1500 GW models for that year), then find the sections for front and rear brakes. Usually, if we can't find it there, then we start doing google searches. Hope that helps. also, thank you for finding my video. Ride Safe!!
A lot of work for nothing, just for the video in RUclips, a little bit of WD40 and that's it.
That method didn’t work for me. Glad it did for you. But, thank you for taking the time to comment.
This is good info. I have an 93 Trike and it hard to find good info on them. Your video have been very helpful. I need to do my shocks and airbags too. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m glad it was helpful for you. My dad mentioned it rides better and the air bags actually hold air. Ride safe!!
Your video was so very helpful, it was the first time I have stripped the fairing off and delved deep under the skin of the bike, and I was terrified of doing it as it appears so complicated. With your helpful tips and guidance and the Haynes manual to help, I replaced the LCD screen, and whilst it was in bits I got the windscreen fixed so it was adjustable (mine was also stuck), also took the lower fairing off and replaced the cam belts, and checked the spark plugs, and replaced the coolant. I learned so much about this fabulous machine over the last two days. It is a marvel of engineering and mine is now 30 years old ! Amazing. Off on a three week tour of France next week, can’t wait 😀thanks for the video, and all that !!Paul, S.Wales, UK
I’m excited for your upcoming adventure, sounds awesome. Thank you for the kind comments, I’m glad the video helped you, that’s why we did them. Ride safe!!
I kept reaching out to give a helping hand. I know the feeling of accomplishing a task never done before. Good reason to be proud! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching and the kind words!! Ride safe out there!!

No,no,no mine will stay stuck on!
Too funny. Others in my comments have gotten their buttons to work with some different methods they mention. It was tedious work for sure. Glad you found it though. Ride Safe!!

Came here from the FB Metro page. 👍
Thanks for the comment! Hope it was interesting. 🙂
I'm wondering where you're getting gl1500 parts? Im having trouble with key ignition switch? Any ideas as to where i could find parts?
Thank you for asking. Most of the time we find the parts doing a Google search or on eBay. I found what you might be looking for on eBay. In the search bar on eBay, copy and paste this: New Genuine OEM Honda GL 1500 Goldwing Ignition Switch Barrel with Key 1990-2000 Hope that might give you a starting place. Thank you for watching and Ride Safe!!
May I ask you what was the reason you replaced the radiators and hose. I just wondered if there was a problem I need to be watching for. Thanks
Yes thank you for asking. My dad’s bike was experiencing some leaking but didn’t know where it was coming from. Because it is such a chore getting in there and with the radiators and hoses being almost 30 years old he decided to change them out with new to prevent future issues with the 30 year old parts. It ended up being a loose clamp. Yes he could have just tightened or replaced that clamp and put it all back together. But it’s unknown how much longer those old parts would last, so he changed them out for preventative reasons. Hope that answers your question. Thank you for watching. Ride safe!!!
I was confused on what shocks to install on my Motor Trike 2000 Goldwing and I found your channel. Thank you so much for doing this video.
I’m so glad to hear this. Thank you for sharing!! Ride safe!!
Tip use little bit of grease on the o-ring to hold it in place.
Thank you for the tip!! Ride safe!!
I have a motorcycle just like yours and I’m trying to find a cover. I’ve been online but no luck. Do you know where I can find one?
Thanks for asking. We’re no help as my dad does not have a cover. I would suggest joining a goldwing trike group or two and creating a post asking the same thing. Wish I could be more help. Good luck and ride safe!!
Smaller gloves would help tremendously 😅
Completely agree. Thanks for watching. Ride safe!!
Thanks guys. With this video I was able to install new seals, bushes, oil, and new springs to my 89' model. Again thank you ! Today there are almost no garages whom want to book in a GL, and who does, wants your kidneys and liver to do the job.
Thank you for sharing. It’s messages like yours that make all the hours of putting together the video worth it. I’m super glad it helped!! Ride safe!!
Did you add air to the forks
Also great video
We did add about 5-6 pounds of air. It took very little. I believe the manual mentioned it too. Thank you for asking and watching. Ride Safe!!
Thank You!
You're welcome! Ride Safe!
Большое спасибо за видео. На родном языке наити не смог но и на английском всë достаточно понятно
I’m happy you were able to understand even though it wasn’t in your language. Thank you for watching. Ride safe!!
This is a great video thanks for posting! Did a coolant flush on my 1995 Sl 1500 and now am getting a small drip from the front cover. What I read on blogs could be a hose up behind the radiators. This will be a huge help in getting behind the radiators to see where it might be.
Thank you for watching. I’m curious to hear where the leak is coming from once you get it apart. I’m wondering if it is coming from the same area we had found. Another viewer suggested that we replace the thermostat while in there too. I wish we would have thought of that while we had it apart. Anyhow, good luck and nice back together, Ride Safe!!
This video gave me the confidence to do the job on my 89 aspencade. Much appreciated
That is awesome to hear. Thank you for finding it and watching. You got this!! Ride Safe!!
What model tire did you guys buy.
Thanks for reaching out. Tire is a Bridgestone Battlax BT46, Size 130/70-18M/C 63H. Hope that helps. Ride Safe!
Brake cable replacement front?
We didn’t replace the brake cable so I don’t have a video on it. Sorry about that. Thank you for watching. Ride safe.
Should’ve got the thermostat while being in that deep.
We didn’t even think of it. Thank you for sharing. Hopefully others will see this comment. Ride safe!!
Great video this will help me a lot
That is great to hear. Thank you for watching and ride safe!!
May I ask where you got your radiators or who did you order them from? I am going to replace mine
I’ll check with my dad and see who on eBay he ordered them from.
@@whatsbryanupto Thank you so much
The seller on EBAY is: newautoparts5 I don't see that he has anymore on his site for the GL1500. You may reach out to him and ask. Hope that helps.
I have a 1996 with leaks as well... do you have links to the places you went to for parts (other than ebay). Also, the video didn't show how you actually got the port side fan out. How'd y'all do that?
Hi Mark. Thanks for watching the video and also reaching out. Yes, getting that port/driver side fan out was quite the chore. I went back into my videos and I have about 20 min of us struggling with it until I just put the camera down and used 4 hands and screw drivers to pry and wiggle it out. It was not an easy job to do, just unclipping the wire harness at the top of the fan housing was difficult. It took patients for sure. If you can get it popped out of that grommet in the rear of it and wedge it past the wires above to the right and wires down the frame tube to the left you should eventually get it out of there. It's just as much of a chore getting it back in. :-) It might be easier to remove the radiator if you can first. But, you'd have to decide to sacrifice the upper hoses, because you'd likely not be able to loosen the clamps and would likely have to cut the hoses. As for where to purchase, here's the links for Ziegler Motorsports and Cycle Parts Nation. When you click on the link to parts at the Ziegler Motorsports site, it directs you to Cycle Parts Nation. Then just follow the links to Honda and your specific year, model and parts. www.zeiglermotorsports.com/ www.cyclepartsnation.com/ Hope this is helpful!! Good luck, and if you get a chance, let me know how it goes. Ride Safe!! Bryan
Great video,thanks.
Thank you for watching. Ride safe!
Update for the shocks. We have a straight axil trike and thus 444 shocks wouldnt be able to properly damped like on an independent trike. We did go with 13.5 inch heavy duty 412 shocks. Not the cruiser model you have. (The shocks we got were made for a triumph). But the ride has been drastically improved for us. No longer have air but I’ve personally have never been a fan of air shocks. Hope everything with your trike goes well
Thanks for the info and watching. We’re just now coming out of the snow season and hopefully have a ride coming up soon. Because of the winter we haven’t had a chance to check it out to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Ride safe!!
Do you guys ever rebuild for someone else if we take them off and send them to you. Would love to find someone to do it as thorough as you guys do
Thank you for watching. We don’t rebuild any other than our own, but we do appreciate you asking. Hope you do find some place that will do it. Ride safe.
@whatsbryanupto o well I tried. Thanks
Hello, did they remove them for maintenance or was something bad happening?
Thank you for watching. We noticed a leak after running it but because of everything you have to take off to see where the leak is we decided to swap for new parts while in there. Glad you enjoyed. Subscribe for other videos. Ride safe!!
Very impressive work good sirs. I hope I never have to replace mine but if I do, this is gold. Cheers.

Thanks for your video! It gave me the info and courage to proceed with the daunting disassembly task. I've just finished installing the new screen from Tanin. I bought the bulb as well, but am unsure as to where the two smaller ones go. The larger bulbs are the 3.4W of which there are only 4, so those are obvious. Can you shed some light on what the wattage is for the two smaller included bulbs is and where they go? Thanks again!
Hi there. Thank you for the kind words and I'm pleased to hear that my video helped you. I couldn't remember exactly where the bulbs went, but I was able to Google "1995 Goldwing Dash Lights" and saw a few sites like Ebay where they show the bulbs and approximate locations. The comments box won't let me copy a screenshot of it into this thread. I'll do my best to explain it. 4 big bulbs go (@ 30 mph, @ 130 mph, @ 0 RPM, @ 4500 RPM) the two smaller bulbs go direct center of instrument cluster, 1 bulb above LCD and 1 bulb below LCD. I'm not sure of the wattage for the bulbs. Again, thanks again for the comments and watching. Great work taking on the task!! Ride Safe!!
Would have been nice to see how the cables actually pulled out of the hand control housing.
Thank you for watching. I hope it was helpful.
I have a 2000 GL 1500A. What brake pads do you recommend? The trike kit is a Tri-King. Do you have any information where to get parts for it? The company went out of business in Florida.
Hi. I chatted with my dad about this. The front brake pads are going to be available online. You can order from the Honda website or after market supplier and that’s who he ordered from. They are all different prices. If you’re asking about the rear axle, it should say the manufacturer, and should be able to order per the manufacturer. On his trike, his rear axle is a Ford. Hope that helps some. I do appreciate you watching. Ride Safe!!
You rock Bryan!
Thank you. Glad it helped.
