Do you need a license to fish there?

I use these cheap reels before I take it down beach I always unscrew the reel and pack out with grease. They last years with some maintenance.

It's illegal doesn't that bother you...............'ask every person that knowingly break the law'. The answer is 'not really as long as I dont get caught'.

Looking to to visit for a pike holiday on the Erne. What is the best month to do so taking into account the weather and the fish ?

To be fair, I bought a small Abu Garcia 3000 Cardinal X reel for my daughter to go bass / mackerel spinning on holiday, and it seized after 1 week of intermittent use. I came back to it after a few weeks and it was rusted up inside. It was never submerged, I presume it had some water run into the inners when it was kept on the rod vertically in the stairwell of where we were staying. It probably only lasted for 6 to 8 hrs of actual use.

Worms are also banned. It's a joke. Poachers netting by night and putting up pics on face book of their salmon by day. Jail the poachers , longer sentences and more balifs

New subscriber here, very interesting watch. Have to say from what I have seen the farms are a bigger issue and with the use of wrasse for lice on those farms no clue what that must be doing to the stocks within the sea of wrasse and the introduction of them into farming areas

You should do a video on the Foreign nationals taking fish everyday of the year on most rivers and lakes and no one seems to care. I personally watched a guy walk towards me with a pike of about 18 lbs on the bann just holding it by the gill when i asked what he thought he was doing laughingly he said i eat because i never tasted pike before. Ive watched numerous guys walking past with bags of fish. Also they use a funny pyramid shaped net which they peg under the bank in case the bailiffs come along. They also sell fish that they catch outside a local factory.

Anglers get blamed for salmon stocks , what about the trawlers who take thousands of salmon wonder if they have something to do with low stocks????

I don't target salmon so I don't use prawns but I fish for the dollaghan and white trout and I use whatever is best under the conditions - fly, lure or worm. I agree with all of this except worms gut hooking fish. As long as you're fishing a moving bait on a float and strike when it bumps it'll be roof of the mouth hooked. What needs to be banned is static legering any bait, that's what causes gut hooking. IFI are useless c*nts, DAERA are worse. Farmers dumping slurry into rivers every single year get nothing and a prawner is going to go to jail? Get to f*ck. Farming is the biggest problem for freshwater fishing - a totally obsolete industry in this country, massively subsidised with a large proportion of those subsidies being scammed. It has a huge net detriment on the economy and environment. Cities in England and Wales were permanently destroyed forcing millions into poverty yet we still subsidise farmers too miserable to even employ a farmhand to pollute our lands. F them. And it doesn't matter what bait is used either, they'll never jump on to the bank for you. Sure our traditional Irish salmon flies are called shrimp. What are they designed to imitate?

Badly want to go away and educate yourself, it's the same with most of these so-called anglers, "i hate IFI", fish trawlers n farms. Until its written into law. IFI cant do much. Also to these illagal dumping/polluting, only reason these crowds do it is because its cheaper to pay the fine then get rid of it properly. Gov needs to up fines to put people off. Once its in the water IFI cant do nothing to protect the fish only access the damage. Most of the crowds polluting are government organisations like irish water 🫣 And these tik tok wannabe's catch n release me bollix, look at half of the fish in the photos, the fish aren't looking down at the water, reason because their dead. By the way this poacher u have on where'd u get him out of the discount aisle, 30 to 50 fish not much of a poacher😂

More in line for them to go after gill netters, fish farms and factory trawlers. its always the peasant gets hit with the rules. In british columbia you cant fish bait in many rivers up north but if your native you can. if your native you can gill net the rivers. trawlers at sea hoovering up hundreds of 1000s of tonnes but god forbid you use roe or keep a chinook salmon you get hit with a 10k fine and they take your car and boat all the while the guy next to you is scooping them up with roe, the guy below him is dip netting, the guy below that is gill netting and the guy at sea is trawling

Main thing is netting and the farmers silige and stop fish farming that distroying all fresh fish . Wake up.

The problem is offshore with nets. Years and years off overfishing. Rod and line was never a problen if it was managed properly. It should be possible for anyone with a licence and ticket to jerp a few fish.

We aren't a problem for the fish populations if we are only catching a couple here and there. But the real issue is if we all started using stuff like prawns, we'd depopulate areas fairly quickly. Yer mans rubbish about the morality of it is ridiculous. Morality isn't the problem. It's about conservation and protecting fish stocks. I don't survive off of the fish i catch. I can go to the shop and buy a bit of chicken if i want to. I'd rather fish with a fly or spinner and catch nothing all day than ruin the sport i love. If i wanted a guaranteed catch, I'd go pike fishing. Not to mention that I run into fisheries officers all the time. They have given me better advice over the years than anyone, so for me, keeping good relations with them is more beneficial than the "rewards" of poaching.

My best day was 27 on the shrimp in Connemara. My friend had 22 . Not bad considering the previous total for the entire fishery for the year was 110.

First of all prawns are not banned in the south! It’s only club rules that restrict fishing with prawns! There’s a bigger problem with Salmon is that they are being hoovered up out at sea by factory trawlers from other countries ! There needs to be a Salmon pathway with all fishing vessels excluded from that zone along with the feeding grounds off the coast of Greenland and any of these trawlers caught inside the zone would be seized and crew jailed ! These I fish the fly mostly but depending on river conditions I would use other methods! I haven’t used the prawns for a good few years now I have used it in the past and yes it is very effective! I don’t think people should be seeding division at this stage as we need all fishermen to come together !

Salmon are in decline, no-one should be even fishing for them, not even catch and return. Give them a chance to recover for a few years and then introduce one fish a rod rule per week and no more.

Never deep hooked a fish on a shrimp and I have had a lot of fish over the years. The problem is that on it's day you can clean out a pool if you are a fishmonger I loved fishing it, really exciting if done properly. I haven't fished in the South since 2013.....which rivers still allow it?
