I hurriedly try to blink them away, but my stupid body refuses to take them back. I rub at my eyes vigorously, hoping the discrete-not-so-discrete manner conveys a vigorous attempt of removing dirt and dust out. He asks me, in that beautiful voice of his, "Are you okay?" And I automatically respond, "Yes, I'm fine," as I always do. He's back now, after daydreaming. He asks me to tell him more about him. I should be used to this by now. So, I talk. I talk about him-his likes, his words, every point. He seems captivated by it all, down to the hairband in his hair that he wore on that day, and everything else. I talk and talk, desperately trying to remember every little detail because I know if I stop, he won't find anything interesting in me anymore. As long as I focus on him and not him, I can keep my emotions in check. If I look into his eyes, dreaming of the moments he'll spend with him, I'll break down. As long as I focus on him, I can distract myself, reminding myself of how imperfect I am compared to his lover. As long as I focus on him, I can pretend I'm just telling a friend about his personality before their first meeting. But I can't talk forever. And when I've milked out the last drop of information about him from my mind, leaving the reel of descriptors blank in the end, disappointment squeezes my insides. I know our time is nearly over. Still, I sit there. He says some things, and I respond automatically. When he says goodbye, I snap back to reality and shout, "Wait!" He turns back around, and my heart thuds in shock at what I've just done-or perhaps at what I was planning to do. I look down, give an awkward smile, and say, "Sorry, nothing," as he leaves again. I linger in the place where we were before. I lie back down and close my eyes, shuffling a little closer to where he would've been. I imagine his arm around my body, keeping me warm and protected. i open my eyes and get ready for another day of reality. lmao dont come for me pls bai have a nice day/night! ❤
