Environmental monitoring equipment installation - central Puget Sound
In an effort to better understand conditions that kelp experience, we are deploying environmental sensors at the seafloor and surface throughout Puget Sound. Temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) are all in the mix. See the installation from January 2023 in central Puget Sound. This is just one facet of our Eyes on Kelp Initiative - learn more at restorationfund.org/programs/eyesonkelp/

Why not flood Death Valley and make the Great California Inland Sea from Death Valley down through the Salton Sea into the gulf to create a fresh flow then grow high lipid algae to make fuel and livestock feed and fertilizer. Could lower ocean levels and provide more evaporation to add snowfall and rainfall over the Rockies. New Hampshire University has researched this. Similar below Sea level Valleies exist in Africa too.

Kelp/algae mixed in with cattle feed reduces cow methane emissions by up to 80% thereby having a major impact on global warming. Developed, consumer nations should ramp up the production of this type of feed and subsidize its availability to less developed nations as both a climate change mitigation and protein enrichment system.

Ocean acidification is complete bullish!t. The average pH of seawater is 8.35. The buffering capacity of the oceans ( in the form of amount of dissolved calcium carbonate) is so great that it’s literally enough to build mountain ranges and gigantic barrier reef systems.
