Such a shame Busch Gardens eliminated these incredible shows. That was the whole reason why we went to the park. Now it's just another Six Flags.

I remember this ship as a Kid. We went every year for like 7 years! What great memories. I remembered the captains balls and everything!!

Went to the old country Week before last whole stage that does go up and down wqs GONE! And the bulb covers for lights were all gone too. Not a good look to BGW. Also repainted so many blds in Rhienfeld fruity colors. Like ireland type orange and pink greena etc. made the bear in New France with the camera look like a fuity polka dot bear of floureacent paint. Awful. Plus underataffed all around. Raoids closed. No water. June. Hot. One train der herboncia. More later.

In the Navy saw this ship docked astern of the SS NORWAY at Miami on Christmas Eve 1982. When I was a kid it was the PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT of APL. Before that, it was the LaGUARDIA and originally the transport GENERAL W. P. RICHARDSON.

My father was in the Navy and stationed in Norfolk. From our first visit in 1977 until he was transferred in 1988, we never missed visiting Busch Gardens at least once each year. A lot of great memories were made at the park. I don't remember his name but the man that use to lead the drinking cheer at the Festhaus was a family friend. His family owned a paint store that was next door to my Grandmother's house in Pennsylvania. He always took the time to come over and talk to us when we were there, especially when she was with us. The last time that I got to visit was in 1990 while I was going to school in the Army, although I do have plans for a visit in 2025 during the 50th anniversary.

Stay away from this ship unless you want sewer smell like rooms and horrible customer service at the guest relations.

I spent about a day aboard this ship when it was brand new. Overall, I like the Solstice changes. Even though I'm not big on specialty restaurants, others are, so I don't have any issue with them being put in. This ship introduced one specialty restaurant with an ocean liner theme. Many people don't seem to know that the Titanic had 2 similar sister ships, the Olympic and Britannic. The original specialty restaurant had paneling from the Olympic. It was very fancy and opulent and I don't know if anything on this ship equals it now. In fact, I don't love the changes made with all the beige and soft blues and lightening of the interior spaces. The Dining Room is nowhere near as elegant as it used to be. Rendezvous color schemes are paler and less rich. The casino is nowhere near what it was. Michael's is gone to regular passengers and is exclusive to suite passengers but it was a richly appointed lounge for ALL passengers. And the ship seems noisier now. Celebrity used to have zero announcements. And the music played, if any, was at a low volume. This feels a less sophisticated ship than it was originally. I don't mind refurbishing and maybe changing dated areas but the areas weren't dated. They been changed to the IMO inferior Edge style of ship and that's very unfortunate. I like the changes to the staterooms but not the public areas. They didn't need to "revolutunonize" the ship, just maintain and refurbish worn areas.

IMO, the furnishings and feel of this ship is richer than the newer class of ships. It may strike some as more "old world" but IMO, it's timeless. Timeless beats trendy any day. There's a good amount of intimacy and "charm" built into this ship design and I like that there are some quiet spaces and the Ensemble Lounge but I wish Michael's was still Michael's and not the Retreat Lounge. And I wish there were less specialty restaurants but maybe then they'd full up? Without a doubt, my love for Celebrity ships starts with the Horizon class and ends with the Solstice class. I'd skip the Edge class and am hoping for more of the character of this ship in what follows the Edge class. I agree about Reflection chopping the Sky Lounge. Don't like that at all. But the Edge class have no Sky Lounge whatsoever I find that unacceptable. Overall, I don't think the new management of Celebrity is going to improve the product. There is a move toward classes on Celebrity ships and more nickel and diming with less care for the social aspect of cruising aboard this brand. Down the road, maybe change a management, and back to Celebrity fundamentals? Can only hope.

That's my cast! Kathy, my partner was off that day subbing in another show so we were down to only four couples. I still make it out for the audience participations bits of the show.

Love this, especially seeing your sweet mother! I moved away in June 1992 and don't think I attended the tour that year. I believe my parents brought a group from their church in Fayetteville in 1992, but I didn't see any of them. They may have been on a different night.

By making everything more inclusive, the price of a cruise will be more expensive than some people can afford. There are many cruisers who don't want drink packages, specialty dining, wifi, etc. So the lower cruise cost makes it possible for them to cruise. So I am glad it's a choice so that people can enjoy cruising on a budget.
