Alaskan Man Adventures
Добавлен 8 ноя 2020
I started this channel so that my 8 grandchildren could learn some Alaskan skills and adventures from grandpa long after I’m gone. I’m proud to pass on some of the wisdom I’ve been gifted, by some of the most amazing people living in Alaska. I hope you take away something that might be as useful to you as it’s been for me.#blessed life

Quick easy way to clean your crab on the boat.
Pressure washer on low setting does a good job too ,and you don't have to pickle your fish first lol Nice catch 👍
I appreciate the vid but skip the background music!!
*an
Please get rid of the annoying background music.
Nice smokehouse
I like diced up celery in it too for added crunch.
Bruce, thank you.
What care and commitment you put into all this, I am so impressed by your videos! Looks delish!
Those have got to taste incredible. I can’t wait to come to Alaska.
I have never seen anything like this, what an amazing life you have! And a beautiful wife to share it with!
Uhm, do you ship that? I am thinking I’m super hungry right now….for some salmon!
This an amazing video! Right down to the Crystals!!!!
What an amazing adventure!
Beautiful! I have always wanted to come to Alaska! What an amazing view!
Try cream cheese instead of mayo
Can you do the same thing with perfrozen salmon if you thraw them out??????
Yes, if I have no choice because of time etc. I freeze the salmon hole,of course you clean out the belly out at sea and then thaw them before I fillet. make sure to always remove slime and scales before filleting. I have a video on that. Thank you.
Thank you!
great video! Did you do a follow up on the actual canning? That is what I was really interested in. I didn't see it on your utube page.
Anyone know why this hasn't continued?
Late to the party, but having just built my own smoker this video tutorial is second to none. Well done, Alaska Man.
You should try using an electric pressure washer. I tried it for the first time last week. You remove all scales and slime within 20 seconds. And the fish skin feels like leather to the touch.
Great idea I’m going to try that!
Great video any chance you can tell me what type of pot puller you have
The puller is called a Electra Dyne. I prefer the ones with the slowest gearing possible. These machines were originally made for lobster traps. They pulled them very fast, so get the slowest gearing possible for halibut skates and shrimp pots.
Thank you I appeseate your reply I made your smoked salmon recipe today going to can tomorrow I love your vids a great recipies It takes time to scale all those fish tho I did 10 coho and just fished up it takes time fore sure take care Mike
5:11 ; What about aluminum rack or covering my racks with aluminum foil? 😳My racks in my Bradley should be stainless My racks get little rust spots I got it used! 🤔 I know aluminum can be toxic! But we cook with aluminum foil all the time, so I figured it couldn’t be too much worse
Stainless steel is always the best aluminum does leave toxins behind, never ever use galvanized that is pure poison
If you cover your racks in aluminum foil, that does not allow air to flow around the meat, besides the toxins that leaves behind
Curious, could you just cut the skin off? Perhaps the skin holds the salmon together for smoking. Anyway, I appreciate your videos and have subscribed to your channel.
If you D slime and de- scale the salmon first, then the skin has no fishy flavor. Then after it’s finished smoking, you can pull the skin off if you would like. Ileave it on because it holds the oils underneath it in the meat then when I jar it all that wonderful fat stays with it Making it much more nutritious.
@alaskanmanadventures3864 thank you for your reply. I am all about the flavor. lol I will give it a try. Thanks again!
The skin and belly fat are the best parts!
Great video Bruce. But I can't fling guts over the side of my kitchen sink!! Lol... Every year I forget how to do it in every year I search RUclips videos. This year yours came up first 🎉
Awesome glad it helped. You can clean them outside but I do it inside also, you just gotta be careful when you’re shaking the guts out.
Wasted so much water
His lawn and adjacent plants dont agree with your comment.
..and by doing it outside with non toxic elements, the water just returns to the water table.
Once you're done, try filling until the water overflows so the floating scum overflows instead of draining to the bottom of your cooler. Might make clean-up easier!
That salmon looks amazing and I bet the dip is off the charts!
another fascinating and enjoyable and very educational tutorial, I just finished silver, or coho season here in BC but I look forward to next season and working on filleting skills. Yours are amazing. I also need a sharp sharp knife lol
It works and thank you
Great video!
Awesome info sir.... I am going to ry the descaling with hose for sure.
how long will those prepped shrimp last in the freezer without freezer burn? depending on your answer, what is the best long term storage method for the shrimp?
We always try to eat all our shrimp within three months. Just to make sure there’s no freezer burn
@@alaskanmanadventures3864 I enjoy your videos, you need to make some more. Especially some more fishing, shrimping, and crabbing ones. I never thought of doing the breading and everything then freezing. Awfully convenient. I am looking to move to SE eventually. Have to wait until retirement first. Sitka is one of the towns in my list. I've been hearing the call to Alaska most my life. Lately I can't get it out of my head. 😂
where is day 2 where you show us how much shrimp you caught...
how did you can your smoke salmon?
Would this be doable in the kitchen sink?
I’m sure you could but it would be messy!
Useful info
Great video! Exactly what I was hoping to find after bringing local kipper from King Cove, AK back home to Texas, then running out. This video is clearly a lesson from the real deal! Just wish that canning video was up! Please post one!
i would to love to see you do a video when you can them 🙏

Y don't you throw the female with eggs back
Wonderful to watch your video, you have a kind gentle spirit about you. I love your gratitude and thanks for sharing!
Yummy 😋
Still waiting for the canning video but these are great
Greetings from Eagle River Alaska! Thanks for the video!
Great tip
love this video! Good job! Are you recording with your phone? Turn it to landscape and it gets rid of the side bars. Love the video brotha!
Rather like your straight forward directions and precise measurements given. Very good tutorial. I know you don't want to smoke fish too hard when you're canning: they say the smoke flavor will get stronger as it sits on the shelf. Do you have any methods for a white meat fish?
I really liked your video pal! Hope to see some new videos from this season. Cheers
