Have A Good Hair Day
США
Добавлен 30 мар 2020
Hello all and welcome to my channel! I'm Laura and I'm a hairstylist hoping to provide you with all of my best secrets to making everyday a good hair day. I've been a hairstylist since 2007, and self-employed working out of studio salons since 2014. In my experience behind the chair, I came to realize that the general public didn't know vital information on how to properly care for their hair at home. So in 2018 I started a hair care blog to educate my clients as well as the general public on the best tips and tricks to make everyday a good hair day. Due to the success of my blog, I realized that I could provide more value to my subscribers by creating video content on RUclips. As of 2024, I have stepped away from doing hair behind the chair to go all-in on creating content. I hope that you find value in my videos, and I thank you so much for being here!

Super informative and thorough. Super digestible delivery. Great production value. Thank you! Glad I found your channel!
Aww thank you so much for your kind words!! I’m so glad you’re here!! 💕💕💕
W O W!!!! 💖 Nailed It ! ! ! Georgous ☀️ Thanks for such a detailed video. So helpful!! 🙏
I was wondering would this work for hair that is stained with red/orange??
Depends on what it’s stained with. It should certainly fade it even if it doesn’t remove it fully!
Hi Laura!! I want to purchase your personalized hair color guide but I have a question. Can I ask that you provide me with the best possible shades/colors for my skin tone if I purchase it? I haven’t had anyone give me a hair color that I feel truly matches my skin tone. This has been so difficult for me to figure out!! Thank you so much!
Hey there! So I would recommend the personalized hair care plan instead, which does include the best colors for your skin! The personalized hair color guide is more for how to navigate corrective color situations.
Amazing job! very inforamative
Great!
And what about 7U?
What line is that in, can you drop a link to the swatch? I’ve never heard of it and can’t find any line that has a U!
@haveagoodhairday it's L'Oréal excellence creme 7u Universal mittelblond
I see, so this is how to read professional hair color! Box color is typically very different
Please make a video about hair loss! It’s been falling out in huge chunks when I shower, I’m trying to figure out what’s causing it :( besides stress I think it’s hormone imbalance caused by my medication. This started a few months ago and I worry that I’m going to lose all of my hair 😓
I have a blog post on it linked in the description! I haven’t made that one into a video yet, but it’ll the same content and you can reference that in the meantime! Ultimately getting to the bottom of why you are experiencing it is the most important thing, but I have several things you can try for solutions there.
Sing it sister!
I really like the presentation of the video and the results. Very easy to follow the instructions and l love the results.
Color doesn’t lift color so I didn’t expect this high lift to lift previously done!
I know right! I have found that after the tone from the previous session has faded, I can get another level of lift. It’s not 4 levels each time, but it def gets bumped up and gets me to a level 10 after a few sessions
Girl.. where’s the list of stocking stuffers for men?
In the description! Very first thing mentioned
Thanks for your response! It’s nice to be heard by someone that knows. Can you recommend a specific biotin/ collagen that you like? So many choices.
Not a particular brand but go with a liquid biotin over a capsule! I’ve found the body absorbs it better
I have VERY FINE and thin hair. I’m actually losing my hair because of menopause. I told her that when I got there. My hair is also short. She did a dry, razor cut. I had never seen this, and truly had no idea what she was doing, so I trusted her. My hair is butchered! Chunks came out when she did it. I am crying. This was my first time with this gal. I am so so sad. I am already losing my hair, now in the back, it’s like it almost bald. 😢 Thanks for your information!
Oh Heather I am SO so sorry that this happened to you!! I know that it’s traumatizing! Get some liquid biotin to try and help hair growth. Hopefully it won’t take too long for it to grow long enough to fix. Sending hugs!! ❤️
I am inspired to switch from bleach to highlift… I’ve been highlighting my hair for 11 years and now I want to find a way to have healthier and longer hair🙈
Yes! Hi lift is much gentler on your hair than bleach is. It’s definitely worth the switch!!
Wow
Is humidity important for hair?
Good question! Humidity can be both good and bad for the hair. It opens the cuticle and can make the hair more frizzy because it absorbs water from the air, but without it hair is much more dried out and often not as soft!
@haveagoodhairday Can you write in Turkish please I did not understand
Thank you very much dear
Thank you so much! This really helped
Laura. I have gray color. But I used another brand and my hair has blue patches. I will remove it like your video. But wich brand and color I can use. I want light gray like my gray color
Dawn should help to fade the blue patches! But you should know that gray hair color is EXTREMELY hard to perfect, and most professional hair stylists can’t even get it right. This is definitely a case by case basis, so if you’re interested in personalized advice, check out my Personalized Color Guides where I’ll take in all of your information and give you in-depth advice for your situation! You can learn more here: laurakcollins.com/guides-personalized-plans/
Can I highlift on top of already highlighted hair? I'm naturally level 6 and my highlights are level 9. I also have a root melt I think it's called
You can, but the highlights and the natural color would end at different results. Also, depending on the root melt used and if it has completely faded out of the hair will determine if you can lighten through it or not. There is a chance the hair won’t budge at all where the root melt has been applied. I recommend doing a strand test so you’re aware of what it will look like before doing the whole head!
NoNoNoNooo! Coconut oil is one of the very few oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft... Making it the worst oil to use because it solidifies deep inside the hair and doesn't allow moisture in until completely removed - which is almost impossible! It'll eventually break your hair off. Look up all the ladies with massive breakage and hair loss due to coconut oil here on RUclips! I wish ignorant bloggers and RUclipsrs stopped parroting this nonsense of covering yourself in coconut or olive oil from head to toe... The 2 WORST oils to use topically!!! 🤬 Once again, a thorough, very helpful video. Your channel is a hidden gem, Laura. 💖
Exactly!! So much bad advice out there from people that have no idea what they’re talking about. I’m glad you enjoyed the video 💕💕
I think youtube sent you to me because it heard that I colored my hair myself for the first time ever and my hairdresser shamed me for it. This was very educational, and your website looks good as well! I moved to San Francisco before the start of the pandemic and ended up getting laid off twice and now working for myself. My hair started to go so grey, probably due to all the stress, and just doing highlights wasn't cutting it anymore. However, I can't afford to get my hair dyed every 6-8 weeks at these prices, so I felt like I didn't have a choice, and I wasn't ready to be grey. I started with a color brown 5. It kind of made my dark hair lighter, (despite the picture on the box being actually darker than my hair) and too warm. Then I moved on to a cool brown 5 ash. It looks a little less warm and I use a cool brunette gloss. The hairdresser that shamed me said that my hair was like 8 different colors and there were different bands and that they'd have to do a color correction, and it would take maybe 4 hours. So, your video stressed me out a little, but I'm going to try to get more educated. Since I had been getting highlights my adult life that frankly never looked particularly artistic and a bit random anyway, I'm not too worried about these "bands." Plus, my hair goes wavy/curly so it kind of helps. I do want to hear about products and formulas so I know what to buy, even though I hear you that I should not just copy them but figure it out for myself.
I’m so glad this was helpful for you, and I’m sorry to hear that your stylist shamed you! I can 100% understand that the price of getting your hair colored in a salon especially in San Francisco would be insanely expensive, and not affordable for everyone! Just keep doing what you’re doing and learning as you can, and you’ll eventually get to the point of being able to confidently do it yourself without issues. I would also suggest starting at Sallys, because that color is better than drug store type hair color and the store associate may be able to help you one on one with what to choose. ❤️
@ what do you think of Madison reed? We have a salon here, not sure if they could do color Correction, but their products are available for sale.
You are absolutely stunning, gorgeous
Why are there no links to any of these products? I know you can't link in RUclips shorts. This is a full length video & would like your recommendations on a complete set, less expensive than Dyson & all of the attachments. I just came across your channel & if you respond, I'll subscribe & share with friends and family. Thanks in advance.
It is all linked to my blog post that’s the very first thing you see in the description, I mentioned this in the video 🙂 It was way too many items to add each individual item so I had to link it to a page with everything there
Of i used high lift oravana and have some.golden roots happening can i just use a 20 volume and reapply only to the gold roots?
My guess is that it wouldn’t take since hi-lift deposits tone, and you’d need to lighten through tone which hi-lift won’t do. I would tone down over it, and then next time you do your roots pull the hi-lift over and it will bump it up since the toner will have faded by then! Later this week I have 2 videos dropping for toning the hair, and Thursday I show how I tone my own hair to cover yellow roots!
I used a semi permanent hair dye months ago but it hasn’t fully washed out and now I have a demarcation line. Any advice to fully remove it? I was covering old highlights but the demarcation line is higher up where my virgin hair was a few inches above the blond.
Likely if you have a demarcation line, it wasn’t a true semi-permanent. But you can try this! ruclips.net/video/spwZfpSZZ1s/видео.htmlsi=t0pCXWOPgGpZX4k9
@ thank you, the colour did fade from a blackish brown to a chocolate brown in 3 months. But my real colour looks mousy next to it. I’d hoped it was a real semi permanent because I did it at the salon. Would the dish washing liquid take it off?
The dish soap will definitely help to fade it, but my guess is that it is a demi-permanent or even a permanent if it’s lasted 3 months. I would call the salon to let them know and they may have more of a solution since they know exactly what product they used!
So can I put my hair in my microfiber bonnet while I'm sleeping instead
Microfiber clings to the hair! I would def opt for silk instead
I have to use 30 with hi lift because 40 is way too damaging for me. I use it in place of bleaxh so I can fo bold colors over it. The only con is that 30 just barely makes the marks. It gets my hair blonde enough to do the job, but not enough for pastels.
Interesting! It may be the products you’re using, as I’ve never had someone with virgin hair become damaged with hi lift, even when using 40 volume. Bleach on the other hand, I’ve seen damage hair with 10 volume. Not discrediting you at all, but personally in 18 years I’ve never seen it happen using wella and pravana!
Great Video ! Epic job !!!!
I still don't know

I have purple/blue veins but hazel eyes with a neutral skin tone but sometimes i question if i have olive skin because sometimes it looks yellowish. Im confused 😂 . Help please
There are def times neutral skin can look warm or cool, especially if you have a tan or even the lighting you’re in! My skin is neutral to warm and I find I do best with cool colors. You can test it with shirts to get a better idea, try on both cool and warm colors and see which you feel better in! You may be able to wear both well if you’re a true neutral. Yes honey blonde with high lights
Wow, I think 30 volume with a level 12 isn’t enough. Do you have better results with 40 bc I just have a feeling the high lift needs a higher developer
? I did use 40 volume! It’s written in the beginning where I shared my formula. Also, there is no such thing as level 12 🙂 the level system goes from 1-10. 12 just means it’s a hi-lift color, and hi lift means it has extra ammonia than traditional hair color, so it produces more lift!
Hey thanks for this. My hair is short and I’ve found I can’t bleach it without meting off my ends. So I tried matrix high light blonde which didn’t break my hair but my roots are so gold. Gonna try Wella’s line next time
I have very fine hair and my scalp is too sensitive for level 40 developer, will this work with level 20 developer on base 7 virgin hair?
You wont get as much lift if 40 vol isn’t used! If you’re interested in personalized advice, check out my Personalized Color Guides where I’ll take in all of your information and give you in-depth advice for your situation! You can learn more here: laurakcollins.com/guides-personalized-plans/
You are a very good awesome hairstylist wow with you were my stylist that is a cute cut thank for sharing wow ❤
Thanks so much for your kind words ❤️
Thank you for the video! I'd like to lift level 3 (neutral/slightly warm dark brown) virgin hair to a mahogany brown level 5. Would that be achievable with 30 vol and permanent mahogany brown color (e.g. wella koleston 6.75)? Or would I have to use blonde dye with 40 vol or even bleach?

What % developer did you use with the permanent color?
40
Hi, looks lovely! Would this formula work on 65% grey hair? Another formula I was going to try was wella 12/81 and 12, probably at the ratio of 1:2, do you think this would work?

It turned out beautiful! I so wish I could do that myself at home
Won’t Brushing your hair everyday with bore bristle will make your hair or blowout flat ?
No, I do this with curls! Especially if you use a round brush, it will do the opposite
@ thank you for a quick reply. I’m trying to grow out my hair at like 39 haha. And trying to keep it as healthy as possible
This is the way! A boar brush will be muchh gentler on your ends and reduce breakage
What products you used? And did you color just the dark roots of your hair?

Thank you, this method looks great and i would like to try it but i am based in Europe and the product you mention isn’t available for me. would be great to see olaplex added, they basically say to increase the vol of your developer when adding olaplex
I did a separate video using Olaplex! And they said to increase developer when it first came out, but a few years later they said that you no longer had to do that. ruclips.net/video/6jT8lQbqiJM/видео.htmlsi=IJy0XdBoeeGoIq4w
I'd LOVE to see this same video using permanent color instead of bleach (starting level 4 or something mid-range brunette). Thanks for your awesome videos and very precise work!!! I have level 4 hair but want to be a level 7 or 8 using only permanent color (no bleach) without brassiness. Can you use Sally products so most of us can buy it? LOVE YOU!!! Thanks again.🙏
I can definitely do a video using permanent color! But since I am in the process of becoming a Pravana educator, they don’t allow me to use other color lines on my channel. It’s really not much different to use a different color line though, 7N is usually comparable to 7N in another line! Also if you’d like help with how to get to a desired color, I’ve started creating Personalized Hair Color Guides and tell you exactly how to get from point A to point B! laurakcollins.com/guides-personalized-plans/
