The rules of data visualization made EASY!
Sir. Does a teacher need consent from the student to conduct action research?
This depends on a few factors. First, local or building level policy should be considered. Second, you need to consider if there is going to be any public sharing of your work - in which case, yes. Third, you need to consider if there are any potential harms to students, delayed learning, potential IEP impacts, etc. - if so, yes. If you’re just tweaking your existing instructional strategies and deploying action research methods to assess the success of your changes for your own continuous improvement, you generally don’t need permission. Transparency is never a bad idea and you should be communicating with parents and students about changes to your classroom regardless of whether you’re doing action research.
People lecturing to kids are not necessarily teachers. Some of them are propagandists. Reality is what they say it is...or else.
Thank you for your video, it's really helpful in clarify the concept
Nice try. They are just different spaces. Collaboration doesn’t have to mean that EVERYWHERE IS INCLUSION. Sometimes, for the sake of research, get your praxis out of my theory… (for now, anyway), and I will sometimes do the same. Please know that it is NOT a bad thing that a specialization within a field has a place where it can thrive untethered by the other specialities.
Thanks
Nice one
I am currently finishing a stats project. I was so stressed about understanding this topic, but you made it so simple and accessible. Thank you! This was so helpful!
couldn't finish it as this was the third video that failed to tell me in real terms what action research is up front.
I’m all in for data driven PD.
My mom teaches kindergarten and has a tattoo of my thumbprint as the center of a sunflower then my dad sometimes works in schools and has a tattoo om me and my brothers initials so personally these cause nothing bad so unless it's like a sleeve of skulls I find bo reason not
I’m sorry but as a student, surveys don’t and won’t give accurate results especially in schools due to students disengagement of the school due to poor teaching. If you want behavior to improve and to be able to track it you need to t change how kids are learning.
Demand respect, anything less should be punished. All of this emotional fluff needs to stay at home. Schools need to stop blurring the lines of education and parenting. Teach useful subject matter and go home, how can anyone justify spending school hours taking surveys about feelings, preferences and identity? As a pediatric nurse I assisted many elementary school students through their school year, they spend shockingly little time learning, the majority shuffling between rooms and listening to vapid fluff. On an average day in third grade in Colorado, there was only about 15 minutes of useful content between shuffling rooms, hearing about the teachers feelings, waiting in hallways and watching cartoons. You would all be shocked if you were able to shadow a student these days. Teachers wouldn't even notice from their point of view but from the students perspective, it's extremely hard to feel engaged regarding school when you are getting very little in return.
My biggest challenge at school is Math,I keep forgetting methods of how to do things and then I fail test. 😢
First lol
when the internal organs really be vibin
Duh. It ALWAYS annoyed my that my algebra teachers would say, "technically you're right but we haven't gotten to that lesson yet so this is the answer you should have". WTF?!?!?!!?!!! AND YOU ASK WHY WE HATE MATH?????
That seems kind of obvious when you consider the maze puzzles on restaurant place mats. Who didn’t put one finger on the beginning and one on the end and work the puzzle from both ends? That’s easily explainable by treating neurons like mycelium in that neurons will find the shortest path ween wi points by working all possibilities forwards and backwards.
It surprises me that someone needed external evidence...
The use of evidence to defend decision making is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act. Hopefully this evidence helps someone justify a best practice their already using should USED come asking for it.
@@mbcourtneyedd Sure, I get the requirement to show evidence for new or unique practices. But it's a bit like needing research to show students need to practice to learn...
is it more effective if we give the same amount of attempts on a non stretch text?
That’s a good question! This particular piece of evidence includes four recommendations for building comprehension. Stretch texts are treated here as a culmination of the other efforts. I would recommend reviewing the evidence document and focusing on the other three recommendations with your non stretch texts.
“I aint reading all that”
This guy was obviously not bullied enough in school.
You have to teach them the basics first. math, science, grammar and especially HISTORY. Which most schools are not.
As a student, number lines are just annoying.
This is so true. I had a math teacher that did this and she was the best teacher I ever had.
That's fine, so long as 1plus 1 still equals 2
Is there any way I could find the audiobook for any of these?
The Data Detective and Naked Statistics are both available in audio book format.
Can I use this tool to disaggregate annual streamflow data at a daily level? tnx

Does the data source that you uploaded already include the race and gender identifiers? How would this work using data from federal agencies?
The sample data includes generic indicators. The tool works by reading column headers on a csv file. When you upload your spreadsheet, it will automatically populate the two drop down menus with column headers. You can select whichever columns you want to compare. It will work with any csv file, but you should double check the formatting on a federal agency file to ensure that the data is tidy and includes one row per observation with no summary rows. You can access the tool directly at www.matthewbcourtney.com/repository
