I was in Liverpool 5 times during Mathew street festival, good times

If you are a Beatle fan and have never experienced Mathew st and The Cavern at night you haven't lived.

They had that certain something that appealed to more people than any other band. They were 4 different personas that the public often easily identified with. Even if they weren't - they seemed united. People like it more when band members actually like each other. They attracted people in their early days with their boundless energy and by not taking themselves too seriously. They enjoyed being at the top but appeared grateful. As they got older they became more serious and experimental and the public respected their changes - it seemed as if we were all growing up together. When missteps were made - that was OK - we all make mistakes - and The Beatles were nothing if not honest - so we continued to be enamored. Even as the hits piled up to a ridiculous level - they still seemed grounded - they still seemed to be able to relate positively with the masses. As they continued to produce a high quality output of memorable songs it became natural to think that they could do this endlessly. We expected it. The Beatles' own fans - and that means most of the pop music world - our expectations of constantly more Beatle greatness began to weigh upon them. Even though they had positively responded to the utmost pressure - time after time - the pressure still kept building. Especially after all those prior successes. The Beatles' honesty won out. They never wanted to let us down. They expected what we the fans expected. As always we were on the same page. They parted ways because they did what we did - they grew apart as they grew up. They were the ultimate band - all for one and one for all. That's what was unique. Once they had to divide their allegiance to more life and less band - that was that. If they still had their manager Brian Epstein - maybe he could have kept them together. But even so - we loved them from beginning to end - and when they succumbed to regular life pressures - they even seemed more like us than ever. We respected them even more. We could relate to their dysfunction. We've all been there. Their stature was solidified. Mythical. Let It Be.
