Snakehunt 2011 Sunday on My YT175 - handle bar cam
Просмотров 42513 лет назад
Went out for 1 last ride on my YT175. This is the camera off my handle bars. I jumped off the 1 dune on accident. The wind was blowing 50-60mph Thursday and reshaped all the dunes to peaks. That's my brothers rail, 1915 VW engine, big valves, dunno 'bout cam and stroke. My YT175 has been ported bored .010 over, blaster reeds with boyesen pro series petals. spark arrester (lost at the dunes lol)...

This is after I warmed it up some. I didn't do a leak down yet. It's burning off the oil used during the assembly. I didn't do a leak down yet. Heating it up a couple of times. If you look closely, you can see smoke shoot out of the head gasket lol. I also forgot to block off the fuel pump for this. So lean right there. The 2nd heating cycle, after the oil burnt off, there wasn't much smoke. I ...

Testing/jetting my YT175 somewhat. This is my first port job on the YT. Added boyesen's and triple exhaust, raised the exhaust quite a bit and opened the transfers too far. It leaks around the base due to transfers, That is being fixed with my next cylinder :) This also has a 28mm blaster carb with a 330 jet. clamp on filter, carbon fiber reed petals, stock pipe, stock head, 100psi of compression

For those who want to know how to go fast. Not for the faint of heart. Cutting Triple Ports in a 1983 Tri-moto 175 cylinder. These are the initial holes. It's adviseable to draw your port with a sharpie first, drill the port and then start opening everything up.

Random Guys jumping on some dirtbikes getting some big air.
Ew, trailpros!
I have a yt125 just like your 175 but the cdi crapped out. A used cdi cost more than I paid for the entire 3 wheeler. lol would any Yamaha 125 cdi (from late 70’s 80’s) from a local atv junkyard work?
@@johnwarren6049 negative, you'd need a yt125 or yt175 CDI. I can hook you up with a prototype one for cheap if you want. I've got PCBs and working designs. They're just not polished, and kind of bulky at the moment
Is that a selfmade ecu?
Yup. I've got much more refined versions now. Adjustable and enclosed in housing
lol 😂 so high revving
Stock motors peak around 7k rpm
What cylinder are you running with this head ?
Yt175, port work is stock atm on it.
Gotta love the extra power
Any jetting change after doing this.or does it make it picky or peeky power curve.
You should definitely check your jetting after. It improves the mid and upper range power the most
Pungsinya apaan itu
Is this possible with smaller bore engines 50cc ?
It depends on the cylinder and how much material is available. Some measuring would go a long way.
Hi! I have also handmade auxiliary ports on my 3mb cylinder. I have done those triple ex. portted cylinders few pieces and it is actually great way to modify the powerband and optimize the cylinder for higher revs. Only problem that I have found appearing when pulling max power to higher revs is crankshaft pressure. I have some videos in my channel but I wasn't happy with just 30hp from dyno so I started to build another engine
What is the name of new port sir?
rico hrc they're triple ports. More accurately refered to as auxillary exhaust ports.
Will that fit onto a DT 175?
shoominati23 they probably will. Im not familiar with the dt175 top end.
what is the advantage of drilling this holes?
It gives more fuel flow to the engine and gives more power
Not shit when you port them right to begin with
@@goodfellasinc.5648 They help flow more mid and top end power. If you look at any modern high performance engine with reeds on the cylinder, you'll see them. Adding these is part of porting them right.
@@RubberSalt so can you do this to pretty much any 2-stroke?
@@jcwar6753 Only those with reed/disc intakes on the jug. Piston port or case induction wont work
practice thats all. you a funny fucker
I would guess thats not going to make any difference to running whatsoever, and has simply destroyed a usable cylinder. Wonder what the point of putting vids like this one omn YT?
These make a huge difference in running. They allow for more time/area on the exhaust side. These are the initial ports for the triples. They need cut and shaped after drilling. Check out many of the modern 2 strokes dirt bikes. Higher compression is needed to take advantages of the wider ports. Taller ports provide higher RPM.
Also, I have the idea of throwing that jug to the trash and putting a dt175 cylinder since its ony $90 new, but that gave me another idea ... installing a big bore 240 blaster top end, do you think it can fit? .. is the base gasket the same for dt/it/yt and blaster? I know blaster jug has 7mm more stroke, but maybe with some machining it can fit, have you seen both jugs? I cant find a blaster jug to compare to
these engines are not well balanced, mine did the same for the tingles. getting the rotating assembly balanced would make a huge difference. Crank worx will do it for about $200. As for the head gasket. The 125 is limited with the 4 head bolts, it may just not seal well enough. one thing you can check is the flatness of the head and the jug. You can use a straight edge to check if it's flat, or just take some very fine sand paper (400+ grit) and a piece of glass. you can lap the head and see if there are any high/low spots. you can repeat the same for the cylinder, but will need to pull the studs out. if your reusing an old head gasket, it'll be worth replacing that while you check the head for straightness. another option is to pick up a 175 cylinder and head off eBay. if you have a standard piston and can find a stock bore, you'd be in luck. everything will swap over.
hello Gabriel, Im Carlos (fishertricar) from 3wheelerworld, you helped me with some tips to mod my yt125 3 years ago, once again I thank you. I havent riden, even finished the engine brake in since it was rebuilt , all these years it has been well storaged and finally Im going to complete it. I didnt know a thing about engines that time but I do now. The guy who rebuilt it, installed a big bore sleeve to take the yt175 piston, put it seems like a poor job because the ports are badly manually shaped. He said he copied the ports form the original sleeve. It has 2 problems you might help me: 1 it throws smoke from the head gasket (maybe ill buy a new one) and retorque the head. 2 engine shakes when its running at the point it tingles hard on my hands when I grab the bar, Any ideas?
These are unbalanced motors, they will make you tingle. As for a bigger motor, I've seen a guy take a stroked out blaster bottom end and top end and fit it into YT frame. He then machined a spacer and attached the YT flywheel pull start to the blaster bottom end. 244cc YT with 6 speed manual.
is that a brad point wood drill bit?
Negative. It's closer to a single step twist bit. Any metal cutting bit that is long enough will work. Don't go to far in with it though. Otherwise, welding is needed.
jahanam blok tu
bukan setakat jahanam langsung tak boleh nak guna dah hahahahahaha
espanish???
If you want rear suspension on these, look for a pro-tec suspension kit. They are very rare but will give you rear suspension.
I've considered it, but like you said it is rare. I've since moved on to a KXT 250. For some time, I was considering a blaster engine swap with a blaster swing arm/suspension. The motor almost bolts up.
that has the exhaust boost ports?
Yeah. This was an early design. It has been refined quite a bit since then.
@@RubberSalt , what is Nate's website or number? And please don't wait 4 years to answer.
@@Zionslayer1 lol
I'm not 100% sure where you can locate them(sides internet), i want to say they are pilot bits. We get them at a local avaition scrap yard(WOOT!!) If you want some tips on building, or numbers crunched, hit me up, we can work something out.
They allow more flow to the bottom end. They also dont quit flowing when the piston covers the port. On the down stroke, they allow the fuel /air to fill the intake and out the transfer port next to the reeds. Youll see them on ALL the dirt bikes out there, snow mobiles, etc. They are good stuff.
Does drilling the holes sacrifice top end power?
@@HamBone86 Almlows for more top end
@@HamBone86 Negative. It actually benefits top end power. The angle of port does play into power delivery. A port that flows in straighter will favor higher RPM. Ports that flow more towards the bottom of the transfers favor more mid range. Ports need to have sharp edges in the transfers.
Lol - As of now, that trike shall be called "potato"
what do boyesen ports do?
what other engine fits this frame?
good potato
i picked them up @ a job i had years ago . they are long pilot bits for aircraft work
@digschopper Wish i made a video of the pipe i built for this YT :) search "pipe design" on 3wheelerworld
@hokogan They are both 6 studs. Stud was out in the pics/vids. The IT cylinder i have fits the same head as the yt. But the transfers on the IT extend past the case, unless you build the metal up on the case to fit the 1978 IT cylinder, it wont happen.
@EJH2011 I want to say there is more, but the quality is pretty bad. From what i remember, that was your first jump, then you started getting it pretty good. You guys are bad ass! I was the dude on the old Yamaha trimoto
@RubberSalt Does that jug have the 5 bolt head? If so, then it's for the post '80 175s, which were an entirely different engine. I thought I saw five head studs in one of your 3WW pictures...
@hokogan Well, i got my 1978 IT175 cylinder.. I think they are lying, the transfers extend past the case >.< I've got a motor with a bad crank, pulled the crank, gonna weld the case, surface it, then port match it to the jug lol. Then i will fit CR125 reeds into it. - This isn't overkill, is it ? ;)
Ha, it's you, RubberSalt! I'm the dude on 3ww (Six Stroke) who put the YZ cylinder on the YT125. Triple ports really help, eh?
@hokogan The IT, DT, or mx175 are good starting jugs. But after you get them, you can still port them. You can add the triples ports.. Then they really RIP! They also have wider transfers in the sleeve and on the base. The biggest problem.. They have to be certain years and are hard to find + expensive. This mod also works for the Yamaha blaster and I'm sure several other machines. Gonna try a Polaris 350l cylinder soon! Gotta weld water jackets up first. More for testing than anything.
Or...you could use the cylinder off of the '77-'79 IT175. Bolts right up, and it has larger ports. Takes a different piston, though, I think.
I need to get another video of it up and goin lol
There's another green guy on the left :-p
@RubberSalt LOL Wreck's but yea this video depicts a slow stock 175, what you have now is probably twice as powerful and demands a lot more respect!
lol "Another Green Guy" You are too funny RubberSalt!
