Nice Things #118 - The Pallet Sketch (#ThoraHird #FawltyTowers #Bergerac )
A heated discussion about why national treasure Dame Thora Hird was not only dangerous but also rubbish leads us to a story of a common man and his pallet. Whilst this is going on #FawltyTowers is the subject of debate and there's some actual breaking news about a much-loved British TV institution...

Noel Edmonds introduces Record Year and The Day They Remembered
Просмотров 4252 года назад
Back in 1980 you could send off for a wall planner if you bought a packet of Surf. Or maybe Persil. Anyway it came with a 7" single. On one side Procol Harum sang A Whiter Shade of Pale. On the side Noel Edmonds explained what the wall planner was for and then some session singers, in the style of ABBA, sang the song "The Day They Remembered".

I'm 100% sure Sky owns Heil Honey, as they bought the owners of Galaxy (which broadcasted the pilot)
HHIH was an independent production for British Satellite Broadcasting made by Noel Gay Productions. Like the majority of home made output being made by BSB it was not acquired by Sky. Rights issues meant shows made for BSB were only for broadcast in the UK. For broadcast overseas all contracts with all artists would have needed renegotiating from scratch. You wouldn’t do this. This is why Jupiter Moon continued production into 1991 but was not shown on Sky 1- it was already being paid for by a station in Malta which was already serviced by the Astra (Sky) satellite. So, in short, no. The rights are not owned by Sky. They never were.

Just seen this. Fabulous. I will watch this in the morning.
She hand her work will haunt and preoccupy me for the rest of my life. I have the utmost respect for her and her work and memory.
Aww 1980s....I mean I hated crossroads but the 80s was just brilliant! And not a damn computer in site!
I would have been seven and a half, at junior school. Johnny Ball presenting. I remember him well and his daughter Zoe is just five months younger than me! Now aged 53.
Terrible film
It isn't a film. It's a devised theatre piece. Seeing as you can't tell the difference between Film and Theatre I don't propose to waste much time worrying about your thoughts on this subject. Oh, nice original content you upload. (This is sarcasm, as you don't have any.)
I attended a performance of Acting Shakespeare nearly 40 years ago. This brings back wonderful memories...
Sarah Jane's whole speech about women liberation too.
dont censor frank wedekind c'mon.
wow,so many great memories flooding back!i am 58 now and this evokes wonderful memories.i do wish i could go back in time...
Thanks for posting. I watched the Mousetrap London in 1978. it was great to see victor maddern as one of the players because I remembered him from the dick emery show at the time. He was great as usual. i didnt know he could do so many accents. A great talent he was. I have watched lots of films with him since and it was a bonus for him to reveal a great trick.
Extreme Symbolism
I just found a copy of this single. Only it has Cavatina on the other side!
There''s a difference between woke and progressive. It's a show that should be driven by its writing, its lore and strong characters. It does seem to be desperately trying to resemble a society that the media is selectively portraying.
I'll just leave this: Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination". Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as racial injustice, sexism, and denial of LGBT rights.
Mary and Joseph do look insane. I loved making things from Playschool.
Jesus, I remember listening to this when it came out
wheres heil honey im home
On several different hard drives, safely stored.
@@paulcarmichael2368Just upload it already. You aren't going to be sued, if you're so concerned, find a way to do it anonymously, It doesn't matter. The internet deserves to preserve this show and not have it rot away on a hard drive
It won’t “rot” on a hard drive. Several episodes have been passed to a distributor with a view to a limited DVD release in 2024. I won’t be uploading these to RUclips but I will put a video up with links etc when there is a preorder.
@@paulcarmichael2368 Wait, really? That's good news actually
@@clouds-rb9xt Yes, really. These things take a long time. Episodes 1, 5, 7 and a much better quality copy of the Pilot are with the (probable/likely) distributor. All copyrights have been firmly established as have original contracts (paper copies!). 17 years since I acquired them but finally progress is being made. I will keep everyone up to date.
Horrible people 😪
Actually, this show dates to some years earlier. I know, because I'd had the great good-fortune of being among the studio audiences for one of performances which took place at CBS Studios, on NYC's West 57th St, in the fall of 1981. Recorded over 3 consecutive nights, the video footage was edited into this single performance which was later broadcast, on PBS, the following year. As a young actor, fresh out of grad school, my then-wife and I had just moved to NYC, at the end of August, 1981. A dear friend and former acting teacher of ours, who was then heading up the MFA Directing Program at Columbia University, had received 4 tix to one of those performances, which he'd shared with us, and we accompanied him and his wife. This show introduce my ex and I to McKellen (whom we'd know nothing of, previously) and it was truly an eye-opening inspiration for us both! In fact, I still have my program from the CBS performance which we'd attended.
We all must stand HARD and FIRM for the Queen.
And TALL
My good sir is quite eqsquitly correct
There is a difference about including a remark about the state of the world's problems in a sci fi tv show and making the entire premise about Woke Propaganda
Which they haven’t done. Take your fragility away.
@@paulcarmichael2368Dictor 14 is woke and low sakes , people don't like Doctor 14 (not as a person) as story .
The GOAT
Wanted to hear the full version for years, brilliant 👍
Human jungle theme
I used to listen to these for hours while I built my Fallout 4 settlements.
The greatest performer of a time, Ian McKellen; not only genius but superfluously sharp and steady and structured. In a world that doesn't know perfection, McKellen competitively pursued perfection in each word spoken on-and-off the stage.
I'm about to wrap up rehearsals for my second "Shakey in the Park" and after watching this I'm having serious doubts over how I've been doing literally everything to this point lol
Would this be strange to William Shakespeare? For one the words were pronounced a little differently... and though this is passionate, we wonder what Shakespeare preferred in terms of tone and did he like his actors to be more natural..!
I was sent here. Very happy thanks
Oh my goodness. You kept this quiet! Nice 😀

I think this clip was around the time sue already knew she got sacked however she still did not know how she was being written out so those final weeks she must have felt peeved 😢
Died in 1993 at the age of 65. Always a great supporting actor in films during the 50s, 60s and 70s. What a gem of a find.
Upload the rest of heil honey
I don’t own the copyright so cannot do this. There will hopefully be some movement on this project this year or 2024.
@@paulcarmichael2368 Out of interest, How did you come to find the other 7 episodes? Old shows can be an absolute pain to get re-released (especially if controversial). If you cannot release them yourself what other avenues do you think could be explored?

Ive got this single , is it worth anything ??
For me Elisabeth was my first crush, someone with whom I will always have tremendous affection for, RIP Elisabeth
I fuckin love these guys
Gross story lines.
This was the culmination of a 5 year storyline. It was cited in the House of Commons as being key to peoples understanding of, and the introduction of a law to stop, coercive control. I would say that’s a pretty good storyline, all things considered.
i mean, i'd say it's a storyline that brings attention to issues that those in abusive relationships face. wouldn't exactly call bringing clarity to an already sensitive topic "gross".
Tom baker best ever Dr Who, and my Dr he is so awesome in billions of ways and he has never been topped in popularity.
This man is the reason I want to learn more about Shakespeare!
Now I see why she is portrayed as PRICKLY and self-serving in the fabulous NOLLY! :D
